Wrath, Written

Kitties!

The Peeps gave me a manicure.  Daddy claimed that I was getting "snagged" on the fleece box liners--maybe I was, but I was doing it on purpose!  It's not my fault it made him crazypants(ier).

And in one of those odd twists of fate, not only was I angered, I was inspired.
*ahem*

Loss
by Maui

How dare you clip these mighty claws
Mine alone to groom

Strop against the furniture
ruining showroom bloom

Deprive'd of my primal right
to flay your tender skin

And nothing left to tattoo you
'cept fangs upon your shin

I'll ne'er forget your grave trespass
vividly inhumed

Rest assured that soon you'll feel
my saber points of doom

Happy Monday!

  9. Maui, that was a GREAT poem! Who knew you were so talented?

  10. That most excellent juxtaposition of 'grave' and 'inhume' is what elevates this from mere catterel to Art. (Although the Human says she's going to deduct a tenth of a point for the questionable suitability of the word inhumed here as it puzzles her--not being feline, she's at a natural disadvantage).

I cannot believe you allow a Human with clippers within 20 yards of you, Maui. Rookie mistake, Man.

  11. Äiti's also running for the dictionary to find out what 'inhumed' means. She doesn't get it. All great poets invent their own words to fit the metre and meaning of their art. This is magnificent, and we vote you for Poet Laureate of the Blogoshpere. We so look forward to more poems, especially Ode to a Turd and Sonnet to a Furball.
Shall I compare thee to a flay'ed mouse; thou art more luverly and beautiful etc.
So, out of extreme pain and humiliation came something great - perhaps the clipping was worth it ?

  24. Maui, You might be pretty lucky to get those claws clipped at home! Some of us have go to the vet, because Mom can not hold and clip at the same time.

  45. Awesome poem Maui. Our mom is afraid to give us manicures, she made Silver bleed once and that was the end of that. Not like we care - we prefer using the furniture or the door frames, mol!

  46. What a great poem. You will get those humans back after that manicure. Too funny. Take care.

  47. Maui, have you found a publisher? That was great. We are too lazy to write poetry here.

  48. Mess with the nail,
    Your mission will fail,
    With mighty fang,
    Your skin will son hang.

Not nearly as eloquent as Mr. Maui. I have a couple Maui's here and am well aware of the risk. That's why vet techs have leather elbow gloves. John and I did the room with seven kittens last night. 126 tiny daggers. You should have seen them jumping on the side of the bed and sliding down to the floor.

  49. You should be counted amongst the masters of poetry, Maui! Your voCATbulary is quite awesome.

  50. Maui, there should be a Cat-O-Lympic of verse! You'd of course take the gold!

  51. You Maui! What a poet...but given how much I hate my nails trimmed I probably won't be writing poetry next time they do it...but the shredding something while they do it, like Mom's fingers, now that's another thought...
