Hi!

My name is Sophy, and I rule the house in Illinois where Auntie Trish stayed in May; my Mommies are Barbara and Ellen.  I graciously share the house with three other felines--Simon, Ingrid, and Joe.

I had a such wonderful time with Aunty Trish (she brought me us a FURMINATOR--bliss) that I guess I'll forgive her the fact it took two months to post my picture.

Hawaiian ManCat Monday

Aloha Kitties!

Keanu here.

I'm the Resident Feline and Official Greeter at the Waimanalo Beach Cottages.

It's my job to make all the guests feed me feel at home if they are missing their kitties.

I have a nice cosy beach towel bed on one of the front steps so I can be ready to escort folks around the property at a moment's notice!

Or be escorted, as the case dictates.

I'm such a happy guy.  I work outside during the day, catching rats and lizards...

...and at night I sleep indoors, if I so choose.

Life is good on the island.

Rumbling Rio!

Kitties!

Daddy has a friend, T, who loves Cats.  We like it when he comes over, because he's always good for a nice scratch behind the ears...he doesn't even mind Grayce and her Biting Ways!

T has a doggy and we're used to smelling Sampson on him.  But one day last week T came over and he had an entirely different odor on him...

It was that NEW KITTEN SMELL!!!

We immediately sent Mommy and Daddy over to investigate.

They found this lil' guy...

...who was kind of shy at first.

Mommy hauled him out from behind the table to gave him pets and kisses and he relaxed right away.

His name is Rio!

Rio:  Hi Everybody!

Um, I am not doing what you think.

The Visiting Lady Who Squishes and Kisses me put some NIP down for me!

mmmmmmmm, I LIKE catnip. 

As much as like tummy rubs.

They make me purr like a motorboat.

I'm a four-month old wild and crazy guy! 

The Visiting Man Who Eats Kitten Ears gave me this toy.

Actually, me and Sampson get along pretty good.  I like to follow him around and see what he's doing.

I really like the younger human here, too. 

See how he holds the scratchy post for me?

I sleep with him at night and make squillions of biscuits on his pillow.

Yup, I like my new home and my new family.

I'll have them whipped into shape in no time!

So kitties, that's who we smelled on T, and when Mommy and Daddy got home we sniffed them, too.  We'll get some more photos as Rio gets older.  He's gonna be a Handsome ManCat!

Tell Your Humans What You Want for Christmas!

A few days ago I wrote a post on my own blog about lame Christmas gifts I've gotten. While my human was the one who bought these awful things, I should also shoulder a small amount of responsibility because I was not specific enough about what I wanted. Do not let this happen to you! If you give your humans the right clues, they should be able to figure out exactly the right gift to give you this holiday season. So use these tips when you want to drop your humans a hint... and if they still don't get it, maybe bookmark this post for them. Remember: you are not being bad! You are merely trying to explain what presents you want.

1. If you want a new scratcher, the best thing you can do is - scratch! You can even tell your human if you want a horizontal or vertical scratcher: let them catch you scratching the rug if you want a horizontal scratcher. Use the side of the couch or a chair if you want a vertical scratcher. Do both if you want a whole cat tree.


2. You know those cool shelves that some humans attach to the wall for their cats? You can have those too! Just jump repeatedly on the china cabinet or on the mantel. You do not have to knock off or break anything - in fact it is better if you don't, because humans seem to be even more strongly motivated at the suggestion that something like that might happen, rather than when it actually does happen. Jumping on mantels and cabinets is another good way to hint that you could use a cat tree.


3. Let your human know you want treats by begging at dinnertime and jumping on the kitchen counter in search of tastes. Get really excited over your favorite flavors, such as salmon or turkey!


4. If you don't have enough cat toys, you can drop a big hint by leaving your humans a bug on their pillow! If you want something that flies through the air like Da Bird, then leave a flying creature like a moth. If you prefer toy mice, or something you can chase along the floor, leave a beetle or a cricket. If you find anything bigger than a bug, say, a real bird or mouse, then you probably don't need any more cat toys. You are already doing fine on your own.


Of course the Katnip Lounge cats don't have to do any of this because they have the pawsome Catio! But if you are not a cat who has everything, then try these out, and keep at it until you get exactly what you want!
