Kitties!
We admit it, we've been holding out on you. There's really THIRTEEN felines at our house!
The last (and largest) Kat around here is Chester!
Chester the Cheetah, that is.
Hundreds of years ago, Mommy was 39. She and Daddy visited the San Diego Zoo that September, and naturally they saw the big cat habitat and the cheetahs.
In the gift shop Mommy saw some life-size bronze statues of Cheetahs, and fell in love. Now, our Mommy will spend all kinds of money on us and other folks, but never on herself. So Daddy decided that Mommy was going to get a statue for her 40th Birthday.
Soooo, when they got home Daddy called the San Diego Zoo gift shop. A helpful lady asked him if he wanted the male or female statue. Daddy asked how you could tell the difference...and the lady laughed and said "You can tell"! Kitties, Chester is a male and he has NOT had a hoo-haectomy. But he's bronze so it's OK.
And then Mommy turned forty!
She had to work that day. At the time Daddy wasn't working at home, and had had Chester delivered to where he worked. He got Chester home before Mommy got there and got him all unpacked and facing the door so when Mommy walked in she would see him right away.
And she did!
Mommy was a little overcome by such a wonderful present.
Needless to say, our Mommy loves our Daddy very much, and he loves her, too.
And she loves her beautiful bronze cheetah, Chester.
When Chester first moved in, The Baby was Deeply Suspicious of him. She would make a big circle around the great room, avoiding getting near Chester. It took a couple of weeks before she decided she wasn't going to be eaten. MOL!
So that's the tale of the Thirteenth Kat!
We hope you enjoyed it...

ReplyDeleteSecondly, what a FABULOUS birthday present! Very thoughtful--what a wonderful "daddy" you have and hubby your mom has!
Hahahaha!! What a great gift!
ReplyDeleteWow that is a big kitty. But Chester is very handsome. What a wonderful Daddy that man servant is. We would have been very scart of that large kitty.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Loved the story.l
Chester is a big cutie! What a wonderful gift for your Mom, too!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great story, and you must have a very nice Daddy for him to do all of that sneaking around for your Mommy.
ReplyDeleteSo the secret to keeping your hoo-has is being made of bronze. Guess that's not real helpful. . .
Have great weekends!
The statue is gorgeous! But what is most beautiful is the care and thought your dad put into getting the gift for your mom!
ReplyDeleteawwwwwww Kitties at Katnip Lounge! Your mum and dad are incredibly romantic and lovely! That is such a lovely story behind your 13th kitty family member!

ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend,
Madi and Mom
What a sweet story. And such a beautiful bronze kitteh, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely story! I am not sure what we would do if a big bronze kitty moved in. I think I would only let him stay if I could beat him up and win at rasslin'.
ReplyDeleteOMC! We think our mum is in love with Chester too!
ReplyDeleteWOWIE! Our mom says if she had room, she's adopt a Chester today! Thanks for sharing that cool story!
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty, do you ride on it much?
ReplyDeleteWe love the story of your mom's birthday and how your daddy made it a birthday to remember. My mommy's 39th was several millennia ago. I loved the comment about about the secret of keeping your hoohah is for them to be made of bronze. I wish my brother Hopping John had been aware of that. Maybe his kitty parents would have arranged for him to have that accoutrement!
ReplyDeleteMeow
That is a romantic tale!!! I love it! I wish the Male were that romantic--of course where we would put such a statue I don't know...
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift!!!!!!!!! And we're mighty happy that Chester didn't eat The Baby!!!!! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a very cool story! And MOL about the Baby--although, my mom says there was a cat way before us who regularly growled and hissed at and attacked a stuffed cat she had. Now *that* was pretty silly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post on my blog, and for ordering The World Is STILL Your Litter Box. Unfortunately, the first book is not available on Kindle, so if you want it, you'll have to read it the old-fashioned way. Regardless, I hope you enjoy both books.
ReplyDeleteYour Friend,
Quasi
What a great story -- on so many levels! Chester is really a beautiful work of art. I, like your Mommy, love any kind of cat -- wilcats are especially intriguing.
ReplyDeleteYour Daddy certainly went to lots of thought and effort to get something your Mommy would love. He sounds like a great guy!
Chester is fabulous!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow what a great story about how Chester came to live with you! And he is so cool - what an awesome present for your mom!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfectly sweet b-day gift for yer mommy! Chester is quite the majestic kitty (if we had a big kitty i bet one of us would have to sit on him every once in a while to make sure he knew his place!).
ReplyDeleteDat is a furry nice story. We can tell dat yoor dad is speshul, furry speshul.
ReplyDeleteChester is VERY impressive!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful story about Chester. Our fambly has a real "soft spot' in our hearts for Cheetahs. Mom visited a Cheetah farm in South Africa once and learned about how difficult they are to breed in captivity, and how endangered they are. They are beautiful animals.
ReplyDeleteYour Mommy has a very good Daddy!!! Chester is beautiful!!! Many many years ago my Hubby got me a special gift. I had lost a wonderful dog and my Hubby got a marble engraved head stone for his grave!!! Yours and mine are keepers!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
XXOO, Fern
