Rupert's Awful, Horrible, No Good Day

Kitties!

Rupert here, and I have had the WORST day a kitty can have without going to the vet.
Mommy didn't go to work today, but she deserted me anyway!
It was awful.
And do you know what she did?  She went OUTSIDE of the Catio, where we are Not Allowed, and pulled weeds, which I did NOT get to inspect eat and barf up later.
Here I am, all dejected.  I had been enjoying a nice snuggle with Mommy on the sofa while she ate toast and read.  We were all wrapped up in the oh so cozy Leopard Blanket when she cruelly abandoned me to the call of the wild back yard.

See?  She even left her shoes behind!  Mommy wears different dorky shoes when she does yard work.

I kept an eye on her at all times.

I went up to the highest ramps to have the best view.

Mommy worked her way around the back yard, weeding, and I worked my way around the Catio, surveilling.

And then, I couldn't see her AT ALL!  She moved down the side of the house, into the front yard.
Kitties, it was a gut-wrenching nightmare.

I ask you,
How could she have possibly left THIS??

Happy Tuesday!

  1. She shouldnt have abandoned ya like that Rupert!

But ya said "she ate toast and read". What does "read" taste like?

  2. Rupert, I tell you, I just don't understand why moms torture us so sometimes. I just had the worst day too!

  3. Her behavior is clearly unconscionable and in direct violation of the House Cat code stating: 'Any and all servants while in residence are to be immediately in view of any household feline in case there is an emergency or any said household feline requires attention, food, brushing, pets or just a lap to rest in. '

She has clearly exhibited a willful, wanton disregard for your personal care and well being & I would move that you bring her up on charges this instant!

Rupert; I grieve for your loss and humbly submit that you move to my domicile forthwith so that during any and all legal proceedings you won't be bothered by the press. (for your own safety of course).

  5. Life is just so unfair to us sometimes, but you are a big mancat and must bear these tragedies. And when she comes back, just guilt trip her into oblivion.

  6. Bella and BooBoo agree with you Rupert! Their humans had the audacity to go on VACATION without them last week! Humans... what do they know?

  7. We at the IUC are shocked. The union is behind you 100%. Just let us know if we have to take action. We can be ready with strongly worded placards and guilt-inducing mornful facial expressions in no time at all.

  8. Humans are so weird. I can't imagine how she could have left that. That is so wrong.

  9. Well, Rupert, I guess I will have to lay down my rivalry and stand in solidarity with you over this outrage. You *did* have a pretty good chance there to take a little poopie in her nice shoes, you know--but I guess that ship has sailed now. You'll have to find some other way to express your displeasure and distress. I am sure you can imagine some solution--right?
And BTW, what on earth is your Mommy doing working out in the yard like that?!?!! She needs to stay wrapped up in her blankie with you, having tea and toast and recuperating some more. She's clearly not milking this whole surgery think as much as she should!

  10. Oh my, I had no idea your human did such stupid things!

  11. Poor Rupert, hard to believe your mama would do that to you but perhaps she wanted you to stay behind for your safety? Love that belly pic of yours. :)

  26. Dear Rupert - we can understand how dejected you feel after feeding her a delicious tea and toast
brekkie. Next time she has toast and tea do a big smelly fart right under her nose - that should be a fine pay back.

  28. She must be stark raving mad to leave you!

    ReplyDelete
  29. We have no idea how your mom could have left that belleh all by itself. No weeds deserve that much attention....

  30. My poor sweet friend, I just don't understand it either!

  31. Awwww Rupert, how could you mummy desert a cute snuggly tummy like that. I hope she came back and made up for abandoning you like that :) xx

  33. We really think you should have pooped in her shoes, as our friend Spitty suggested.

  34. Hi Rupert, it could have been worse. She could have not have been home at all! At least you could keep an eye on her out there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rupert, you should protest. Would you like me to help you create some signs? I'll bring the glitter and the opposable thumbs, you bring your wit, and we'll have ourselves a formal protest. :)

BTW, I blogged the second part of the comic today, if you guys are interested in seeing Scoot's next trick: http://www.abbygabs.com/2011/03/continuation-of-yesterdays-comic.html

  36. How oh how could she abandon you to go pull weeds!
By far and away that is not an even trade off.

  37. Rupert, your Mom can't be thinking straight.Weeding over snuggling with you? How difficult could the RIGHT choice be.And yet she got it WRONG!
We feel for you.We really do...

  38. Rupert, I can't imagine why she would leave all that to pick weeds. She must have finally lost it. That's the only explanation.

  39. **plunk** Meowm? Meowm?

Rupert, that last picture made our meowm pass right out. Your cuteness did her in! We have no idea how your Mom left you!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh Rupert, that was so norty of your Mom to do that. She truly needs to be punished. How in the world could she leave that wonderful belleh that needs snorgling badly. Bad Mom.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh my, how COULD she?? She did all that fun stuff and she left you out? You did a great job of watching over her though. Your mom is lucky to have a cat who can tolerate such shennanigans.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh Rupert, that was for sure an awful, horrible, no good day. That was just plain rotten of your Mommy, and she must be punished.

TJ, thank you for your support. It's nice to have someone else who understands my pain. Though if you tell The Baby that I want you to beat the stuffing out of her, I'm going to deny it. Just sayin'.

    Your friend, Zoe

  43. Your mom must have momentarily taken leave of her senses to leave you, Rupert! Sorry you had a bum-scrubbly day.

  44. Rupert was that the cozy leopard blanket that you and your Mommy cuddled in?
I don't know she could leave you for weeds!

  46. Oh you poor dear! HOW could she have been so cruel?! I mean, clearly the outside gardens should just take care of themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh noes Rupert! If we didn't see the proof of how distraught you were we would never have believed that your mom would do such a thing! What was she thinking? Clearly, she wasn't thinking if she chose weeds over adorable you!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh Rupert!! We can't believe you were allowed to suffer this way!! Are you sure they didn't do something to your mom's brain when she was in that hospital?? What else would explain this behavior??

    ReplyDelete
  49. Don't know how Mom could have left that hunk o mancat on the leopard throw for the yard!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Rupert, she must have still been sick if she left the catio to weed instead of petting your tummy. Wow, sometimes Mom's do the most ridiculous things. Good thing you watched her so well that she couldn't get away. You never know what she could have done then.

  51. Oh, you poor thing! I completely understand! It's bad enough when the people go away, but to choose to do something that excludes you when they're home? That's just wrong!
    Grr

    ReplyDelete
  52. Rupert, that was so mean to leave your tummy like that. You need to give your mum some serious re-training. Our mum wouldn't dare to go in the garden without us to snoopervise her.
