  9. And in fact Miss Bee's tongue is much like a straw, and as you can see, sort of pinkish red. :) She and her sisters have to get a lot of moisture out of that hummer food to make honey. In fact, sugar water makes lousy honey for human consumption, but it'll get the bees through a tough winter (or make for easy pickings when out foraging.)

    I had to move one of my hummingbird feeders last summer when my honeybees found it. It was just a little too close to my beehives... :)

  12. Loving the pics. That sort of picture is my own fave as wekl, meaning mcros of birds and flowers. I get out in the Spring thru late fall for these and landscapes in between.
