Friends and Kitties!
So far my time off of work has been just what I needed. I've caught up on my sleep, done as much reading as I want, drunk lots of coffee, and Scott and I have gotten a ton of nagging little jobs done. Just how hard is it to replace a clock battery, anyway?
Saturday was a whirlwind day...up early and off to the airport and sunny Tucson to visit my sisfur Shadow (who is a hoot), and my parents, incidentally. I've been here less than 12 hours and I'm already worn out...my folks let no moss gather. We hit my favorite shoe store on the way home from the airport, and a grocery store for a carton of half-n-half and emergency stinky goodness. Apparently Shadow is a picky eater (imagine that) and refused her premium high-priced breakfast. Again. I recommended a can of low rent Friskies pate which of course she ate with gusto...this time.
Ah, Shadow. She is such a fun little kitty! Only two years old and already on her third home, but that hasn't affected her disposition one jot or tittle; she came right up to me and made friends the minute I came through the door. She is learning how to play--I don't think she had much interaction as a kitten-- and I've had a ton of fun already with a feather wand and hand rasslin'. She reminds me temperamentally of Felix (Deeply Suspicious) and physically of The Baby as a youngster. She's sleek and sassy and she smells pretty darn good, too. (Of course I huffed her fur, what do you think I am--crazypants?)
Mom and I went to a nice boutique after lunch and she bought me a gorgeous dark navy and black surplice-neckline top, I imagine you may see it in some photos in the days to follow. Then, we all went to the pet store to scope out further cat fuuds options and to return the unopened cans of the rejected Horrible Awful Slop. After that we went out for dinner at a yummy Chinese restaurant where I had some of the best pan fried noodles since Scott and I moved from Chicago.
No pictures to post, but I'll have some for you tomorrow...stay tuned.
Happy Sunday, and Enjoy the week!

Oh, I miss going to Tucson - The Shepherd grew up there and when his mom was alive we went there every year on "our vacation" - but only one time now since she passed.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great time with your mummy & daddy and huff a little fur for me. Hello to all those left behind in the Lounge - I'm sure they and Daddy are having a great time together. T.

ReplyDeleteCOME ON! Where are the pictures of Shadow?
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm with Shadow on rejecting that high-falutin' top of the line wet cat food....the ones that pictures of a lynx or tigers or something. Give me Fancy Feast or give me...well, more Fancy Feast.
Our Mommy lufs to huff kitteh fur, too. It's an addiction she's always battled! MOL!
ReplyDeleteWe're with Spitty - pictures please. Of the furs, not the flesh. And we are glad you are working hard on your vacation. serving Shadow's every need and desire. She's sounding like a typical girlcat - you're taking stuff back to the shops already for her, hehehe.

ReplyDeleteWe sense a disturbance in the catioverse! Did something get changed?
ReplyDeleteSheeesh Sheebie! Shadow should show! Shun shilly shally!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised Spitty did not ask if the half and half was for Shadow. She s Audrey's kind of cat if she likes Friskies Pate. Our cupboard has the Audrey tower (pate) and the Simba tower (meaty bits and gravy) in the cupboard - a veritable Friskies advert.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing Shadow pictures.
ReplyDeleteHorrible Awful Slop is No Good! Vacations are Yes Good! srsly.

ReplyDeleteSounds like Shadow has things well in hand over there! Smart kitty, making her demands known and followed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame that she's two and having to learn now how to play.. Too bad her previous homes didn't have fun with her, and thank goodness your parents know how to! Or are learning as well!
Can't wait to see pictures!!!
What *do* they put in the cheap stuff? Anyway? I cannot believe that my kids would prefer dry kibble "treats" (premium over here, but I hear about similar properties in the MeowMix from my friend Kim) over REAL chicken jerky that I made MYSELF BY HAND after HOURS of work cutting the meat from and my fingers to the bone. I mean, free-range meat (the chicken, not my fingers). From the farmer's market. Never been frozen. Direct from the field to the chopping block. No. Give us dry kibble. WTF?? WTF??
