Wherein Sheebie Rambles.

Friends and Kitties!

I bought myself new flannel sheets!
Two sets, one is lilac with hootie owls, and the second is...wait for it...

Yes!  CUPCAKES!!!!
Totally calorie free.
And on sale.

The cats love 'em, and so do I.  It just about killed me to leave my snug sheets and get up Saturday morning at 05:30 and return to the Salt Mines.  Yup, my vacation is over.
*sob*

For the many of you who wondered about the dessert I ate at Mom and Dad's house--it was angel food cake covered in non-dairy whipped topping, with fresh raspberries and Trader Joe's fat-free fudge sauce.  SO delicious.  My folks never fail to spoil me culinarily rotten when I visit them, and this trip was no exception.  Thank goodness they keep me on my toes, doing stuff, or they'd have to roll me onto the plane for the return flight.  Their kitty Shadow is so friendly, she slept tight against me the first night but bugged out as soon as I paid her any attention.  Typical feline.  It's been a while since I've had a chance to play with a young cat for an extended period of time and we had tons of fun; she's a goof, stalking Monsters and leaping in the air at Fairies.  My folks are completely enslaved, which cracks me up...I kept telling them "times this by thirteen!"

In other news, Scott was interviewed (with a few other wonderful Cat Daddies) on being be a Cat Guy!
He's a great Cat Dad and there would be no way on earth that we could care for so may cats without him working from home and catering to their every whim tending to them during the day.  I take the evening shift, with playing, grooming, and treats.  They have preferences for me or him--Salem keeps company with Scott when he's in his office (desk pestering) but enjoys morning time (combing and general fussing) in the bathroom with me.  Felix is Daddy's boy entirely.  Sure, he'll accept rubbins and luvvins from me, but Daddy is the One.  Rupert is my big Gray Man.  And so it goes.

The weather here has been beautiful, perfect for lazing around on the Catio, reading.  I'm deep into the second book The Twelve of Justin Cronin's "The Passage" trilogy, for the second time actually.  I blazed through it the first time in two days just to see how it turned out, and now I'm rereading it, purely to immerse myself in the story.  I am eagerly awaiting November 13th which is when Joe Abercrombie's new book Red Country will be released in the US.  Don't expect to find me doing anything else but reading that day, snuggled up in my snazzy new sheets.

Happy Sunday, and have a GREAT week!

  1. Love the new bed wraps! Pity the hols are over though. I've never tried non-dairy cream. It sounds very strange. I hope it tasted good!

  2. Great cupcake sheets! I'd hate to get out of them too... But it reminds me of a sheet set I used to have.. It had large circles and squares and occasionally I'd half wake up, crack open my eyes and see SOMETHING right by my face and I'd jump up slapping at it like a mad woman.. only to find that it was one of those circles.. I hope you dont go smashing cupcakes when you're half asleep! MOL

I read half of that cat guy thing before I realized that the Scott was YOUR Scott!

  7. I saw that interview earlier today - there were several male humans I recognized, but yours was the first (after Brian's human, who provided the link) because he mentioned Sylvester! If I hadn't caught on then, I sure would have a little while later when he mentioned the tie-dyed shirt, MOL!

  9. Ph, nothin better than new sheets! The last set I got at Sears were only $19 for KING SIZE flannel sheets - they have pictures of fall leaves on them - very apropos for this time of the year :-)

Good interview Scott - I noticed you bowed out when they were talking about naughty cats.... T.

  10. As a true European, #1 would like to say that she thinks "non-dairy whipped topping" and "fat-free fudge sauce" should be illegal in that they go against the very nature of what they are supposed to be.

Flannel sheets, however, are a true wonder and very much approved of!

  11. Cupcake sheets? I bet I could never find those up here in Canuckistan!

And I want to know why Scott didn't mention a naughty thing your cats had done. Are they all angels?

    Great interview!

  27. Congrats to Scott a very cat-tastic cat Dad! Scott kind of reminds me of Jackson Galaxy the most wonderful host of Cat from Hell. This is a big compliment I think Jackson is the cat's meow. Ok now Scott's head is swelling. LOL

  31. The sheets are adorable! I love flannel sheets, especially when it is freezing out!
That cake wasn't that fattening at all! Angel Food cake is low fat and the fat-free Trader Joes chocolate? I live within WALKING distance of a Trader Joe's...I MUST get some!

  35. I read the interview, thought, wait a minute, I "know" Scott and Kevin and Terry. LOL. It was fun to read, well done to all.

Oh, I love flannel sheets. They're a must for this climate. I've hesitated on buying any new ones, though, because I really, really want to get a new bed, a double instead of my queen-sized. Some day. So I'm making do with my existing, mending ones. They're still cosy, so it's all good. :-)

Actually, the dessert at your parents' place would be pretty low-cal. I haven't had angel food cake in years, ought to pick some up (not going to back for just myself), to do the same, when I get a craving.

  36. Bake. Not going to "bake" for just myself. :-p

  38. Oh my gosh, I LOVE those sheets! I usually have boring sheets but silly PJs--now I'm thinking I might have to add some fun sheets to the mix.
