Frail Friday

Kitties!

The Mommy here.

Do you see my old gal, my sweetheart, my love, my Miss KonaKitty up on the third story?

I don't blog about her much; she's such a unassuming feline and her goal in life (at this point--she used to be a firecracker for play) is to while away the hours snoozing in her heated cat cup or outdoors in the sun.  Nothing very exciting to post about.  This, however, doesn't mean that she doesn't loom large in my daily life because she's my Constant Companion when she's awake.  My little girl  may be getting littler every day, but her affection grows daily; it's as if her body size has become inversely proportionate to her desire for love.  I can't sit down on the sofa and she's there for cuddles and scritchies--in a most demanding way.  I don't deny or begrudge her a single caress, I think our time together may be drawing to a close.

Not soon soon, but soon.  She is, after all, sixteen.  Healthy, but old, and maybe perhaps a wee tad senile--not that alternative mental health is up for judgement around this house.

In the meanwhile, I'll enjoy each moment we have.

I hope it's a lot longer yet; I'll never tire of looking at this sweet little face.
I love you, KonaKitty.

Happy Friday, and hug your furkids tight!

  1. Yes indeedy. These are precious times. We know this well, and how demanding our senior kitties can be and the huge love they give and bring. Miss K-K we salute you! Long may you nag your Mommy for scritches.

  4. We kitties are tougher than you think - maybe Kona will grace you with her presence and demands longer than you ever might suspect!

  5. She is indeed precious! I know that my Charlie will be 14 soon and I see him slowing down some. Still the best kitty boy always and forever!

  6. Oh Kona, you just go on doing what you like. You are lovely and you know what? Sweet Sixteen means you get treated extra special!

  7. I know how you feel. Pricilla is at the end of the age range for her breed and I worry every day that, well....

  8. Sinda lived to 21 - so you could still have 5 more wonderful years. T.

  9. I understand your thoughts and feelings about Miss Konakitty because I have the same thing going on with my Cali. She'll soon be 16 and I sense her time with me is drawing to a close. But for whatever time we have left, I will treasure every single day and love her with every fiber of my being, as I know you will with Kona.

  11. This brought a tear to Mommy's eyes. Princess is 19 this year and gets more frail all the time. She is very demanding in her time, love, and attention, too. XOXOXO

  12. We know that feeling well, hug her tight, take a photo every moment you can. And write about her. Your furfamily story is a book waiting to happen. Just sayin'....paw hugs, Savvy

  13. Aww, she is such a beauteous girl. I wonder if she remembers she sent me some furs a while back? I will make the Human bring them out this weekend for a nice sniffing. You are lucky to have her and she's a lucky girl to have you and to know she's warm and safe and loved all the time XOXOXOXO

  14. It is so hard to watch our furbabies grow old. We hope you and KK have many wonderful days remaining.

  15. KonaKitty is a gorgeous baby! I hope you have her for a long time. I feel the same way as you about my Star. She's getting close to 14 and despite lots of treats, is still slimer than I like. Not alarmingly, but I wish she had a cushion against any illness that might come along. I'm gonna go hug her now. Hugs to KonaKitty!

  18. Trish, we're sending purrs and purrayers and universal Light to you both. When it's KonaKitty's time to pass, we ask for mercy and for peace.

But for now, may both your hearts be filled with love and contentment, for the wonderful life you've had together.

    Peace.

  19. If there are any vacancies we have a house full of alternative mental health challenged individuals in our house. Careful screening would have to be conducted however since certain individuals might disrupt konakitty's peaceful existence.

  20. Ms Kona Kitty is very special and beautiful. Out kitty Megat who is 17 this year is the same. He demands scriches at every turn.

  21. Your KonaKitty looks so much like Emma who lived here before we arrived. She was almost 20 when she passed. Mum says she knows just how you feel about your sweet girl and says she hopes you'll have each other for a long time yet.

  24. Precious KonaKitty. I understand completely and could have even wrote this, only changed the name to Meshach. My old boy is 16, getting smaller and frailer, maybe a tad bit senile, very demanding and loving at times and I don't know what I'll do without him.

Here is to enjoying each moment and may it not be too soon that they leave us.

  44. Oh Kona Kitty, you sure are one lucky kitty to have such love from your Mom. You are one beautiful lady, inside and out. We know that the Mom is going to spend some really special time with you now but then she always has. We think you are so special to have that Mom of yours wrapped around all your paws. We sure do send you tons of purrs. We will be thinking about you a lot. Older kitties are the very best.
