Phoning it In...

Friends and Kitties!

Sheebie here.

First, a bit of housekeeping--so far about twenty of you have responded for a Catio tour during BlogPaws.  I'm going to go scope out the hotel and find a good meeting spot, which I'll post next week, and I'll privately email a roster for all y'alls approval.

Secondly, a blogging pal, Tammy, from Musings from Fairlight Farm is looking for a good small animal vet in her area. She lives in Missouri--in the country about 50 miles from Springfield, and would consider going to Springfield if there was someone that wasn't outlandishly expensive.  She writes:  I live nearest to Buffalo which has the two farm vets, and I work in Lebanon and travel to Bolivar to the 'cat vet'.
Anybody out there that can help Tammy?

I think most of you know I enjoy irony/silliness, and I also enjoy my job.  So when the two collide combine I'm in heaven.  I always have my phone with me so I'm ready to document whatever tickles my funnybone:
See anything wrong with this sign?  I didn't, not for thirteen years, when I finally realized that the "ventilation" had two "L"s.  And when I pointed it out to some co-workers they had never noticed, either!  I'm not sure what this proves but the sign cracks me up now.  Every.  Single.  Time.

My rebellious steak lives!
This is the Director's parking spot, but not when he's not here...
And yes, my car is dirty.  Shut up.

The room that's open?  That's the server room, the one that runs the computers that monitor the entire treatment plant.  The A/C system for the room was grossly under-engineered ("Engineer" is a four-letter word IMO) and died--so the temporary (month-long) fix was two portable units that vented out into a hallway.  I give our facility crew props because this actually kept the room cooler than the original roof units!  Everything was eventually repaired but really?  Anemic cooling in a computer room is...um...how do I put this nicely...stupid.

Now this is engineering at it finest!
(See the the support wire?)
I'm not sure where to start with this one.  Suffice to say this was planned, and leave it at that...oh, and it's nearly six feet off the floor so dialing involves some leaping on my part.

Never a dull moment!  It keeps me chuckling, that's for sure.

Happy Sunday, and have a great week!

  5. You go with that rebellious streak! We got a good giggle out of the AC! One place Mumsy worked had one of those break the glass in case of emergency boxes on the wall. But there was nothing behind the glass! She used to always just look at it.

  9. That is all hysterical. Love the sign. That phone is up there. Wonder if anyone can use it and that might be why it is so high. Anyway, have a great day. Glad work amuses you so much.

  10. We love your rebellious streak. Don't worry, the head peep's car is much dirtier than that.

The vents in the hallway reminded the head peep of when lightning struck the main a/c unit for her office building and they did something similar, only the ducts were pumping cold air in from a huge machine on the back of a flatbed semi truck in that case.

Oh, and she can't *wait* to meet you and the tour the catio to meet the kitties.

  14. We had portable units for engineering where I used to work. That is real air conditioning!

One of my favorite engineer sayings: Sometimes you have to shoot the engineer and start production.

  15. Sheebie you nailed these.
The last one is absolutely too funny. It would be interesting to see how many employees could actually use the phone successfully.
You'd have to be about 6'2"

  16. PS Have I ever told you about the peep hole I requested for our front door. The door was a couple of years old came w/o a peep. I'm 5'4" on a good hair day. About 5 years ago when having the house painted I also requested that a peep hole be installed. Hubby marked where it needed to be for me to see out. Crazy times we live in so I didn't want to just open the door to anyone. I was at work when it was installed. As soon as I walked up the stairs I thought it looked a little high.
IT WAS....about 3 inches above my head. Needless to say I was astounded. I asked why it was so high. Hubby said the workman were about to drill the hole he decided putting the hole where I could see would not look good. So they put it higher. REALLY..how do you think it will look to have a step stool sitting by the front door? What good is that doing me I can't see so from now on when the door bell rings you get to answer it.

  20. Interesting signs. It's amazing what tricks our eyes can tell us. I didn't catch the incorrect spelling either.

  22. The phone totally cracks me up!

My favorite sign was at a restaurant. It had a hallway leading into the kitchen from the main entrance. They had posted "no food passed here".

Yeah, they went out of business. :)

  27. Bwahahahaha! Those were great, Sheebie. I noticed the extra "L" right off, but I'm more interested to know if door number 2 gets used on a regular basis. If so, I hope the people are tall, with long legs.

And what exactly is this rebellious steak of which you write? ;)

  28. I am so excited to meet you and see the Catio! Surprisingly, I noticed that 2nd "L". I'm not great at spelling as I'm dyslexic and everything looks ok to me.

  31. TBT here: I love the way people just accept what they see. At one office, a 2'x2' piece of plywood was put on a hallway wall to cover a hole, then along came guys to paint the hallway. They painted right over the plywood. My agency had odd art throughout the building, so after a month, I made up a label as if the plywood was deliberate art: Title, creator, date, and description of meaning...

I saw people read my fake label often and no one ever questioned it!

    "Viva Le Ventillation"
