Goodbye, Sweet Grayce



Friends and Kitties~

Amidst tears and love Scott and I helped Grayce go this afternoon.
The past few days Grayce was obviously uncomfortable and there was nothing more we could do to help her.  She was never going to get well, and our Happiest Cat Ever was no longer her cheerful, eager self any more.

So Tuesday afternoon our vet came to the house and gifted Grayce with mercy.
Her passing was peaceful and quick, I think she was ready and grateful to explore the next life; one in which her body will be healthy again.

Grayce, we will miss you...tomorrow I'll be able to walk through the kitchen without tripping over your little dancing body, eat a meal unsnoopervised, sit with an empty lap.  Never again will we hear your insistent "MOW-ow-ow-ow" letting us know the service wasn't up to your standards.  I'll miss Teh Bitey of Discipline most of all.

We are bereft.

I will be taking a couple of days off from blogging to take a breath.

Thank you all for being such wonderful understanding people.  Knowing that we'll have your support makes our loss easier to bear.  It enabled making the decision to let her go easier as well.

    I am so very, very sorry. This is so damn hard. I wish you peace and comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain. I know the brain knows that, but the heart tends to forget sometimes.

    We are very sad that the Time had come for Grayce, but knew that this had been likely soon. I am very pleased to have seen her on our skype calls, and to make her acquaintance. The big gray bitey hole can never be filled and nor should it, as a celebration for the wonderful life she had, and the rules she made for you. The candle on the catio is wishing her godspeed, and also to you and Scott as you can take deep breaths and grieve. The love goes on even when the body fails.

    Mercy is surely the only gift which is difficult to give in this scenario but certainly the one most appreciated by the receiver.     But, you surely know she is dancing-prancing across that bridge, Mow-ow-owing her approval or disapproval of the greetings she's being given.     So sorry to hear about the passing of Grayce. She was a dear girl and will be missed greatly. The decision to help one cross the bridge isn't taken lightly and I find comes with a sense of sadness and relief at the same time. Just knowing they aren't hurting or feeling poorly and are able to play and enjoy the new life again brings a comfort. Hugs and Purrs to you all as you miss and remember Grayce.
