Kitties!
We have some new inhabitants in our yard, Woodhouse's Toads.
There is at least one living in the front entryway, and Mommy has seen two at once in the back yard!
Being the avid naturalists that we are, one of us (not saying who) brought a specimen in for closer examination in the wee hours of the morning.
Mommy spotted him when she came into the kitchen to feed us...at first she thought he was *ahem* a TURD but then he hopped...and since she'd never seen leaping feces before she grabbed her phone, just in case this was a toadally (sorry) historical event.

After the video Mommy took Mr. Toad out to the garden and set him free. She examined him first for viability, 'cos you never know if our victims pets have been irreversibly...um... "compromised" and need to go into The Morgue* for later disposal. He didn't have any holes though, and all his parts were intact. And functional. So out he went.
After he warmed up a bit outside--it's cold on the tile floor--he lurched off under the catnip.
Until we meet again...
Happy Tuesday!

pee ess: the plastic mat deters the Mystery Pee'r from utilizing the corner. Just in case you were wondering. We know it's ugly but it works!
How exciting! I wish we had toads... my human kind of does too.
ReplyDeleteHurrah for Mr Toad. And hurrah for Miss May Ling - Mirsku is very proud that she was the Chief Investigator. Apprently the Amphibious Turd Doubles actually pee over anything that they feel is hostile so we hope the plastic mat worked on Toadie and he did not spoil the paintwork.
ReplyDeleteAnd look at Scouty! Go boy!
There is a great British recipe called Toad in the Hole so perhaps Mommy should be ready with some batter for the next time....?
That is one ugly toad. You guys are very brave. Buster would have run away.

Mr. Toad's ugly-arse cousin is living at our house and pooping beatle-y poop all over our porch. Mom is "toadally" put out with him!

We have frogs that tease us through the windows, but not toads. And we don't have jumping turds, either!
ReplyDeleteSometimes toads can make a kitty sick...so maybe that is why he didn't get eaten. But, I'm really glad he didn't...you know I have a thing for frogs and toads. :)
ReplyDeleteToads sometimes go in the garage. I leave them alone though because they taste bad and make my mouth froth. Mum picks them up and puts them under the hedge. She says they are very unappreciative though because they pee on her hand.
ReplyDeletewhenever I start seeing leaping turds I know it's time to stop drinking.
ReplyDeleteThings are always hopping at your place!
ReplyDelete"Irreversably 'compromised'"--bwahahahahaha! "Leaping turd" --bwahahahahaha! You guys have such fun!

ReplyDeleteI love this blog!
ReplyDeleteNone of us has ever corner a toad before!
ReplyDeleteThat was certainly exciting.
The way I understand it, a cat will only ever eat one toad in their life because of something in the taste or skin or some other ickyness. So perhaps Mr. TurdToad was unharmed is because one of his relatives had already been dispatched and the mighty hunters already knew better? Of course, that could just be an old wives tale..
ReplyDeleteguys....act shoo a lee.. Mr Hankey can hop ~~~ !! ♥♥
ReplyDeleteWe never met a toad, but Mum told us there were some in our area. Purrs

Too bad your mom rescued and saved Mr. Toad. The mom found a big fat toad on our patio and instead of bringing him into the house for us, she set him free under some trees in the back of our yard. Spoil sport.
ReplyDeleteYuck that's one ugly looking turd...er toad. He's furry fortunate to escape uncompromised...which appawently isn't a word, MOL

We had a good laugh trying to envision hopping feces. That's a very interesting looking toad. So happy he could be returned to the out of doors to hop another day. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
