Kitties!
Johnny here.
A word of advice: If you feel all gulpy and sick and raspy, do NOT sleep with your Mommy (or Dad). They will notice and then, well, you are hauled off to the vet.
Like so.
The vet does unspeakable things to see if you have a fever...
...and listens to all the highly private things happening in your innards.
The stress of it all can cause you to lose a whisker!
The Mommy here: Poor John has been under the weather for a couple of days so I carted him off for a check-up; little guy was so low he didn't even make a peep in the car on the trip there. No fever, and his lungs sound clear--Dr. Auggie suspects either allergies or an irritated trachea from the dental procedure--he is doing a weird swallowing thing and his purr sounds really raspy. He got a steroid shot as an allergy preventative and has antibiotics "just in case"; he's prone to kitty colds when stressed and the dental certainly qualified as that. I fed him some minced broasted chicken with a side of cream when we got home, and he toddled off to sleep in the sun for the afternoon. I'm sure he'll be just fine but a few purrs wouldn't go amiss...and I'll make sure he gets the prime spooning spot at bedtime. Thanks everyone...xx
Happy Friday!

ReplyDeleteAllie gets tracheitis every time she gets intubated. If they think that's a possibility, there's a drug (which of course I can't recall) that they give her before anesthesia to help with that. It's now in her medical file.
ReplyDeleteUsually she wheezes and coughs for a few days afterward though :-(
purrs coming STAT! xoxo catchatwithcarenandcody
ReplyDeleteHere come the purrs Johnny,
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon!
Poor Johnny. We're purring he's back to his ol' self real soon.
ReplyDeleteI will say a prayer for Johnny. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteJohn, when ya are feeling THAT badly, ya gotta just turn yerself over to the vet and keep yer eyes closed til its all over...
ReplyDeleteAlfie and Binky offer many purrs. (Maybe they knew before I read the blog, because they were hanging around their Mommy's computer today and purring without the usual reasons. And of course, I offer my human purr equivalent. I have developed a particular affection for Johnnie / Tiny Johnson, whereas I merely adore the others.)
ReplyDeleteOh my, poor Johnny we are sending you healing purrs and we know wherever Arty Mouse is she is sending you healing purrs to TJ.
ReplyDeleteSocks had those symptoms once and the vet thought he must have irritated his throat some how she gave him some medicine to coat it and he perked right up and started eating.
We've read that Johnny is oaky, but we'll send some purrs and prayers for good measure. We think that was pretty insensitive that you posted the photo of Johnny being probed by that thermometer. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeletePoor fellow, I hope he feels better soon!! Big hugs from us. xox
