A Giant FAIL

Kitties!

The Mommy here.

So, last Wednesday night I was goofing off crocheting relaxing on the sofa when suddenly there arose such a clatter...no wait...wrong story...try this again...all of a sudden a Cat Conga line danced indoors through the cat flap from the Catio and converged on the rug.  Since the gang had been glued to one corner of the Catio for most of the afternoon I knew this was gonna be good...and it was!

Somekitty (CC, I assume--he's a prolific hunter) had caught themselves a small skittery creature and thought that *maybe* they might get some much needed alone time indoors to better enjoy their small furry guest.  Alas, their hope was in vain...rodent hockey ensued with Rupert as the victor making tracks through the cat flap with the crowd thundering back out to the Catio and me right behind brandishing my phone.

Where I found the second period of hockey happening.
Note: This is where innumerable small guests have perished been entertained so I didn't have great hopes for the latest one.

Naturally I got video:
or click HERE.

Rupert then tired of the litter-box action and moved the venue to the carpet...

...where he re-attracted the crowd.*

And then...THE MOUSIE GOT AWAY!!!!!

There was the tiniest aperture of escape during the final period of Rodent Hockey, and Mousie raced to the goal and freedom.

*sheesh*

I live with ELEBENTY cats, and they can't dispatch ONE mouse?  It's totally embarrassing!  On the bright side, I didn't have to clean up any regurgitated rodentia...

Happy Monday!

*Please note how Johnson has no clue what's going on--that boy is special, bless his heart*

  3. I am dying laughing here! Oh how I wish the whole thing had been caught on video! I would love to see the conga line!
Sadly, we have had a similar issue in the past. Three cats and one little mouse that we had to actually buy a mouse trap for because they couldn't get the job done. They did catch one once, but were quite dismayed when their new 'toy' stopped moving. They kept tapping it with their paw to see if they could get it to start up again, nope.

  4. Wow! What kind of mousie was that? What a long tail it had! I have to be honest, I'm pretty bad at rodent catching. Usually my human has to step in and help.

  8. That's okay, kitties. We aren't good at catching them here either. It will just give you another chance on a another day.

  9. Any rodents that get anywhere near your Catio is just ... insane. Even if this one did get away, still, not a bright mousie move.

  21. You let it get away????? That was certainly a lively mousie and it was like watching a gladiator in the arena.

  22. Seriously?!? Those cats should be so embarrassed. Wait, what are we talking about?? We've never seen a mouse let alone catch one. We probably woulda let it get away too.

  23. Wow ! That tail make it look like a Kangaroo Rat (they aren't Rat-sized, that's just what they're called) and it kind of jumps like one too, which may have led to its escape !
Apparently, the mice around here are starting to come in the house to escape the heat, because twice last week I found the kitties had neatly placed a dead mousie right beside their empty kibble dish.

  24. Eleven cats and you couldn't get a mouse- I wouldn't be telling anyone that - MOL!

  25. Derby used to play with them too, driving mum so mad she sometimes would get her shoe and smack the mouse to dead it. Since mum fixed the dungeon walls, no more mousies inside. I never really messed with them.

  28. OH I loved this. Only Admiral dispatched her mouses. Katie plays with them and brings the for me to see. Good job boys and I am amazed that the schmousie didn't run from the litter pool.
