Kitties!
The Moment you've been excitedly awaiting has arrived...
solving the Mystery of the Object in the Ashtray!
Many of you correctly guessed that it was Cat Fur, and a discerning few even whittled down the possible Ornj donors to Scouty--which was correct!
Scouty does Not Allow brushing, the evil cousin of Touching.
Every summer when we take off our winter coats Mommy and Daddy groom us like madpeeps (or have our hairy hides shaved--Maui & John) to keep up with all our loose fur. Even Rupert, with his short sleek pelt, sheds by the bushel. For the most part we all enjoy being brushed, combed, zoomed, and furminated. Some of us (CC, May Ling) love it so much they dribble with happiness whilst being combed.
But not Scouty.
So, every Summer Scouty sports a mohawk (or two or five) on his ridgeback until they loosen up enough for him to remove 'em unassisted. This one was the last, lone holdout. He had it for weeks, and Daddy found it in the living room Friday morning when he was tidying. Naturally, he emailed a photo to Mommy at work right away.
Mommy threatens to sneak up on Scouty when he's sleeping and snip his 'hawks off, but she never does--that woman is full of hot air, sometimes--something about not wanting to destroy his trust, blah blah blah.
What trust?
I see you back there, Mommy, zoom lens and all.
In other news, we had 46 comments on Saturday's post, so Mommy went to a random number generator and 14 was the lucky number! Skipper, from Musings of a Marmalade Moggy is our winner of a fun prize--please email us your snail mail addy to katniplounge AT gmail DOT com, ans we'll get it off to you ASAP.
We had so much fun reading your guesses!
Hopefully we can find another Mysterious Object again soon.
Happy Monday!
XX The Katnip Lounge Kats, especially Scouty XX
Congratulations Skipper!
ReplyDeleteScouty might be starting a new fur-trend, I like it!
ReplyDeleteHe looks so much like Sherpa!
ReplyDeleteHa!! I knew it!! But really, in a house with that many cats, what else could it be? MOL.
ReplyDeleteToo bad it wasn't a old horked-up hairball! That would have really been cool!
ReplyDeleteIf we remember it correctly Scouty might be the one who gives Johnny boy certain hupming pleasures! We think that must have created the mohawk!
ReplyDeleteYay! Congratulations, Skipper!
ReplyDeletePS/ Mommy's fingers got all tingly just looking at that 'hawk on Scouty's back. We don't think she'll be able to refrain from plucking it off.
We kinda like the mohawk style. Our mama would be all over those with her trusty scissors.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Cindi Lou & The Kitty Krew
Lola thinks the brush is evil too.
ReplyDeleteThe Paw Relations
I LOVE my comb . but HATE the brush :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you could get rid of the mohawk without human interference ;-)
XOXO
Poor Scouty! If only he'd learn the joy of brushing so he didn't have to struggle with those nasty things on his own! Congratulations to Skipper!
ReplyDeleteConcatulations to Skipper... and I am very glad Scouty did not get eaten!

ReplyDeleteConcats to Skipper. Yeah, Mom would have snuck up on that with scissors. It would have been a two-person job or sure. I have several mats currently, but they aren't obvious looking at me. Mom feels them for sure if she picks me up. One day soon...........
ReplyDeleteI am SO SORRY!! I deleted my comment cos I called beautiful Scouty, CC! LOL!! I am silly!!
ReplyDeleteThe Gumster and Charlie are shaking their heads in utter shame!!
Scouty and CC - you are both lovely!!!
Take care
x
Oh boy, how lucky am I! THank you so much kitties. Lots of Purrs Skipper. Got mummy on the job of doing the email thing. :)
ReplyDeleteScouty, being brushed is so much fun, you are missing out!
Aren't 'hawks trendy now, Scouty? Brushing -- and especially furminating -- is a lot of fun, though, Scouty. Just ask Ashton. She loves the furminator so much it makes Pierre jealous, and he doesn't even want to be furminated.
ReplyDeleteGracie is not fond of brushing. I get the occasional swipe here and there. Grayson and Gandalf would let me brush them bald!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the randomly generated lucky winner! And Scouty, for being hawk-less! ha!
MOL MOL MOL SCOTY
ReplyDeleteYOU HAVE A HORN SPROUTING....TOO FUNNY THANK GOODNESS FOR MOMS W SCISSORS
HUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
Congrats Skipper!!!
ReplyDeleteThe REAL Maple Syrup Mob xxxxx
is that a mohawk scouty or are you just happy to see me?
ReplyDeleteScouty you need to get with the program!! Brushing is the next best thing to nip sniffin'!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteScouty, the FURminator is your furrend. It feels oh so good. I'm feral and I like it. You don't want to become like Ann Gora and have an entire side of your furs peel off, do you?
ReplyDeleteScouty, are you sure your name isn't Alfalfa?
ReplyDeleteI think that is quite fashionable Scouty!
ReplyDeleteWe're so glad there's no Scouty stew!
ReplyDeleteOur sisfur Silver didn't like brushing either Scouty. But she had furry short fur so there were no mohawks in our house. Mom wouldn't have been able to resist removing it but we bets you'd remove something of hers too, MOL.
ReplyDeleteSasha, Sami, & Saku
Oh I had it wrong! I thought it was either Felix or Scouty, and I went for Felix. Love these cute pictures :-) I understand not wanting to destroy trust!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday xoxo
Scouty, good thing it came off. We love the mohawk altar your mommy created for it!
ReplyDeleteConcats to Skippy. We think kitty mohawks are cool.
ReplyDeleteWe loved your mohawk while it lasted, Scouty!

We like that fur-hawk! We can't wait for Scout to sprout another one!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Skipper!
Oh theese one was a good one! We bet Johnny created the mohawk look for Scouty!
ReplyDeleteI was REALLY wrong. I guessed it was cat fur but that was where me and reality parted company.
ReplyDeleteScouty, my brother Apollo has a similar issue. He rolls in the garden and get slugs and dirt stuck around his hips and they form dreadlocks. Mama tries to brush and pull them out, but sometimes she has to cut them off. At least Apollo likes to be touched. Me-Ommmmm
ReplyDeleteDear Scouty,
ReplyDeleteHave you seen my coiffure (coiffur?)? Just another way to deal with furs yourself so peeps don't feel the need to "help" us. {{sigh}} They just can't leave well enough alone!
Purrs from your furriend,
MMM
wow, Scouty. I wish I could have a mohawk. yours looks totally bad ass. you Mom Woman sez she doesn't want to "destroy trust, yahdida-yahdidah..." but she's really scared of you. who wouldn't be? Rock On, you Bad Boy...
ReplyDeleteThat is just SILLY! I've never seen a mohawk on a cat's back!
ReplyDeleteWe knew it was Scouty. Yippee for us. We had no idea we were looking at an ashtray. Nobody we know smokes. Concats to the winners. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
