Friends and Kitties!
Sheebie here, plain and stubby.
That sounds sorta awful, doesn't it? But it's perfectly OK with me. I am happy with not being a frilly glamorous sort of girl, in fact, I find that gewgaws and furbelows itch. I like stuff that's functional--which does not mean I don't enjoy wearing beautiful things, I do. So when Scott asked me what I wanted for our 20th wedding anniversary (October 2nd) I had an answer ready: a new wedding band. I quit wearing my original wedding set about a year ago because the diamond needs to be reset (for the third time) and although I deliberately picked out a small stone--over Scott's objections, what is up men's obsession with size--I've whacked it and caught it on just about everything over the past nineteen years.
It was time to go Utilitarian.
But not Ugly.
So I went looking on line with my mental list (as opposed to my mental list) of requirements:
Original. I wanted a one of a kind piece.
Functional. No pointy bits, nothing sticking up or snaggy.
Quirky. I love things that are different.

Gorgeous. 'Nuff said.
I looked off and on for weeks, and I eventually found exactly what I wanted on Etsy, crafted by the imaginative and talented artisan/jeweler Karen Haney.
I showed it to Scott , told him the price, (very reasonable) and placed my custom order...and last week it arrived.
Friends, it is PERFECT.
It is precisely what I wanted.
It is me!
It's a palladium/sterling alloy which is whiter and stronger than sterling, and has a beautiful mirror finish. The design goes all around the band, so I can play with it and spin it around. Plus it feels nice and sturdy on my finger and I don't have to worry about losing a stone. I couldn't be happier--I feel married again! heh.
Thank you Karen, for helping make our 20th so memorable. I love my ring.
Happy Sunday!

It's super pretty!! And it looks like you!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that ring totally suits you! It's stunning and unusual. Very special!
ReplyDeleteIt IS beautiful. And definitely one of a kind. So cool to have something that you won't see on another. :)
ReplyDeleteTHAT is really a nice ring and being able to play with it as well..well that is a bonus.
ReplyDeleteThat is very very pretty and will be so pleasing for you to glimpse your hand out of the corner of your eye and, think with a contented sigh - "I have a new ring" :-) T.

What a wonderful ring even though it's not a cat ring. TW used to wear lots of rings but now that she's home, she doesn't bother. when she goes out, she forgets. Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. I really like it!
ReplyDeleteIt's very lovely! Our Mommy loves one of a kind pieces.
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed beautiful. And it has holes in for trapping cat fur. In fact, isn't palladium used in CATalytic convertors? Beware, felines, beware!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! Purrs!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty and original! I love it. Can't help the following pun: A true symbol that marriage is a holy (holey) union!
ReplyDeleteOk, I apologize for that, hee hee
Woohoo! And one of a kind by an artist. LOVE that!
ReplyDeleteMe? I like diamonds. :D But only on my left hand for some reason. I have 3 rings which I've had forever. One was my grandmother's. I'm fixing to have to take them all off and put them up until I get to my target weight. They're all trying to fall off my fingers now. Not good.
Happy 20th, you guys!!
Beautiful and so unusual.
ReplyDeletePurrs ... Rainbow

ReplyDeleteSuperb, Sheebie! Very lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat ring, and story! I never knew you could design a ring like that. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful choice. May you enjoy this for years to come
ReplyDeleteTrish, I LOVE it!!! It is just the kind of ring I love too. I so understand your not unreasonable requirements. I have something similar, except with a non-pointy-sticky-outy stone made in Welsh gold with a beautiful design. :) Happy 20th anniversary for the 2nd. Caro xx
ReplyDeletePurrty!
ReplyDeleteHappy 20th! This is a perfect way to mark the milestone! Oct. 2 is Merlin birthday so we won't forget. P.S. you won our Lil BUB giveaway :-0

ReplyDeleteThat is really special! Love the design and look of the ring on you. Congratulations and Happy 20th for Oct. 2!
ReplyDeleteWhat a really pretty ring. It looks perfect for you!
ReplyDeleteQuite beautiful. At forty years, I am on my fourth band, the first one that has any stones. Like you I looked for months and months. My previous three and been sized up and down so much, the jeweler said, they could not be done again. Phooey! Your band is gorgeous. How fun that you got to have it made especially for you. Congratulations on your 20th. I remember that was the first time we ever had a real vacation (not spent visiting family). May you and Scott enjoy this milestone and oodles, oodles and oodles more. Janet
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!! I've got two simple bands that I switch off with, but my diamond is still hanging on too! With 2 kids in college, I've got to make my wedding band work for a few more years.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of finding a cool ring on Etsy--you done good!! That is a beautiful ring!
Happy Anniversary, you two crazy love birds. :)
BEAUTIFUL!! We think we might go trolling around over there - does she do anything cat related in palladium/silver? Love the look!
ReplyDeleteLove your ring! We had to look close to see if there were ears on those circles! :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!!
ReplyDeletexo Catherine
It's a beautiful ring. My human, who is more of an expert than me on this kind of things, loves it very much.
ReplyDeletePurrs
Your new ring is absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations on your 20th Anniversary, too.
ReplyDeleteReally excellent. I rejoice for you. Yay you for being you. I love the combination of strength and lightness, like bubbles . . . and the shiny metal with the warmth of your skin through it. This is a wonderful thing to enjoy! Many congratulations to you and your fine fella.
ReplyDeleteIT IS GORGEOUS!!! And...HAPPY HAPPY EARLY ANNIVERSARY!
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeletePurrfect.
Um...but can you explain what gegaws and furbelows are???
; )

ReplyDeleteMy mom have a ring with a stone that she almost never use for the same reason as you :)
