Kitties!
We have Toads.
At least two of them live under the bushes in the front yard--in amongst the leaf litter--where it stays relatively cool and damp from the irrigation. They come out in the evening to feast on the moths that flutter around the lights at the front of the house.
Mommy braved incredible amphibian toady reptilian wrath (and their beady eye lasers) to snap a couple of photos.
They are voracious. And fast. The other night Mommy observed one while it hunted/caught/gulped down a HUGE insect in the blink of an eye! (a revolting one with billions of legs, ewwwww--ed.) They must dine fairly extravagantly because what Mommy thought was lizard poop on the driveway turned out to be toad turds and they are BIG. Like 5-6 cm long. Just in case you were interested.
This one looks about as happy as we do with flash photography. Ha!
Mommy is pretty sure that our toads are Woodhouse's Toads.
(Click the link, they are interesting creatures!)
We have been warned not to play with the toads as they *might* be poisonous, but the odds of them wanting to get into the Catio are slim; we eat all the bugs there!
Happy Toadsday!
