Kitties,
We had a dilemma here today.
Mommy & Daddy came home from the Dentist this afternoon (good checkups for both) and their neighbor came over with this:
And wondered if they knew what to do! Well, WE know what we would have done, but NO! Mommy has a co-worker whose wife rehabilitates birds, and Daddy said: "You should call Crystal". So Mommy did! And Crystal said she'd be right over.
Mommy didn't want the little birdy to get cold, so she held on to it for the half-hour it took for Crystal to get there. And Kitties, did she wait in the house and let us examine the birdy? She did NOT! She sat on a bucket of paint in the garage, waiting, totally out of range.
Crystal thinks the little baby birdy might be a Mockingbird, but she's not 100% sure about that. She'll call Mommy this weekend and let her know how it's going...and if he doesn't make it, at least he'll ease into the next life warm, hydrated, fed and loved.
But we still would have liked to met him...smelling Mommy's hands afterwards wasn't nearly close enough!

We are so glad you dozen of cats didn't hurt that little baby bird. We get to go outside so we do catch birds every now and again and it makes Mom very sad. Hope the little birdie made it.
ReplyDeletePoor liitle birdie, I hope that he will be OK!
ReplyDeleteOh that birdy looks so tasty, I mean cute! I hope he'll be okay.
ReplyDelete:) So close, yet so far eh?
ReplyDeleteGood luck little birdy...
P:S: Lucky and Meowmmy say thanks for everything!
Good luck, little birdie! I hope you grow up and learn to fly!
ReplyDeleteWow! We have never seen such a tiny little bird. We hope it will grow big and strong so that it will be able to fly around and tease kitties again one day.
ReplyDeleteWe're sure you would have liked to have "met" the baby bird--we would have too!--but our human is glad you didn't. And also glad he'll be taken care of until he either flourishes or crosses over. Well done to your mom and to Crystal!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious, errr, cute little birdie! We're glad your Mom knew who to call!
ReplyDeleteWe had an egg in our woodstove so I guess that's what it would have turned into. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteYour Mom is great for taking care of it and making sure it gets the best help!!!
Purrs to you all for being good kitties.
Thanks to Mom for chirping in to help out, we're purring for the little one!
ReplyDeleteHm..... we think temptation might have been a tad strong on this one. And we're very glad that the bebeh is with someone who can take care of her/him. At least our the Mom is. :)
ReplyDeleteWe hopes the baby bird makes it. Your Mommy was very wise and sweet to stay in the garage with it. ~AFSS
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww your mummy did the best thing for this little birdy!!!
ReplyDeleteMe and Charlie are sending tons of purry hugs that this sweet baby makes it ok!
We are very sorry that you lovely kitties didn't get a chance to er... say hello to it but we are sure that you got lots of other treats instead cos you have a wonderful mum and dad!
Take care
x
I am not sure if that was nice of your mom or not. I mean it was very nice for the baby bird but you know? For you guys?! How frustrating.
ReplyDeleteYou have so much self-control! But maybe if the birdie gets fatter it'll be more tasty ? Paws crossed it does okay. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little bird! We hope he survives and your mommy didn't want you to do what cats do best...have a snack.
ReplyDeleteYou did well not to pounce on that poor baby bird - it's probably good that your Mom sat in the garage waiting for her friend to come and collect him. Hope you got treats afterwards for being good kitties.
ReplyDeleteAwww! What a sweet baby! So glad to hear it will get a chance to make it. We wish the baby birdie lots of luck!
ReplyDeleteMmm, baby birdie...glad yoor mom knew who to call. Really, none of us haf ever gotten a birdy and mom is really glad about dat.
ReplyDeleteMEOWZA!!!!!!!!!! What an adventure....and bless your mom and Crystal!!!! We hope you will keep us posted on how the little feathers is doing. xxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteYour mommy must be on to you that's why she held onto the birdie. But we don't blame you for being curious about it. That was nice of your mom to call Crystal to come get the birdie.
ReplyDeleteAwww that baby birdie is missing his Momma!
ReplyDeleteYour Momma was really kind to put this baby in the care of someone who knows how to be a birdie Momma. We hope that baby bird makes it...

ReplyDeleteWhat a yummilicious appetizer that little birdie would have been!
ReplyDeleteHi All just a quick note to thank you for you thoughts....seems many thought it was My mom but it was my Mom's 82 y.o. Mom aka Madi's Grandma....all is well and we have a update set to post tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWe've been up since 4am we are about ready to hit the sack as soon as the sun goes down.
Madi and Mom

Thanks for the Gotcha Day wishes.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm...we woulda been tempted too! Good thing your mom kept that birdie out of range of all of you!
ReplyDeleteEven though it is a birdie, we're purring for it to make it....
Oh, we hope the little dude makes it. That was good that your Mom kept him warm til the lady arrived.
ReplyDeleteOoh SNACKIES!!! We stared (drooled) at the screen until The Big Thing brought out treats to get us away!
ReplyDeleteAw,poor baby bird. Mommy raised a few baby birds with the help of her DAD who was a Fireman and brought home many animals from storms or area fires. We hope that baby bird survives.....purrz=^Y^=
ReplyDeleteWe hope the baby bird survives. And the words:
ReplyDelete"and if he doesn't make it, at least he'll ease into the next life warm, hydrated, fed and loved"
brought us great comfort and a warm feeling in our hearts. Because all we can do is give creatures a chance, help them and hope for the best. Then Nature decides. Tell yoou mom thank you.
I'm so torn here, I was rooting for him till I heard Mocking Bird. I don't care for the Mockers, but I do hope he makes it.
ReplyDeleteWe hope he makes it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you knew someone who could take him in and take care of him right!
Oh noes, we hope the little birdie lives!
ReplyDeleteWe have been finding half eaten eggs in our yard lately. And yesterday mom found a cardinal's bird nest in a rosebush, with 4 eggs in it! We will watch it carefully for fevvers.
