Kitties!
Our Mommy has a Dirty Little Secret.
Do you want to know what it is?
Of course you do!

LOOK!
Mommy collects our whiskers!
And she sorts them by type.
These whiskers are from KonaKitty.
And these are from Rupert, Grayce, Salem, Felix, (his freckle whiskers are dark brown)
and the top two are from May Ling. Her whiskers are variegated along their length!
Mommy has never seen "ticked" whiskers before.
Mommy harvests our whiskers from all over the house and catio. She's noticed we tend to lose them the most in Spring, when we shed our Winter coats.
Look at how long this one is!
This is a Maui whisker...his are incredibly looong!
He looks like a Walrus.
The rest of us are responsible for alla the white ones.
Does your Mommy or Daddy collect your whiskers?
XX Lounge Kats
Whoa! I've never seen that many whiskers in one place (at least that are not on cats).
ReplyDeleteMy human doesn't collect our whiskers, but she did scotch tape one of mine to the laptop. Unfortunately it is not one of my ticked ones (I alternate between white and ticked).
Mom collects ones of the older cats - they may be gone someday and we have a whisker or lock of fur to remember them by.
ReplyDeleteNoooooo! Now Äiti has a new idea and our whiskers will not be safe. That is an awesome collection though, and at first we thought your Mom would show us a dozen pictures of all your whiskers individually catalogued, but it was a relief to see the 'and here's the rest' pile. Afterall DNA testing could be expensive, hehehe.
ReplyDeleteSo, what does your Mom do with your furballs?
Have a great whisker counting Wednesday
No, Mom does not collect our whiskers, but that is a very cool collection=it is unique and priceless!!...Happy Wednesday, sweet friends...kisses...Calle, Halle, Sukki
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lot of whiskers! Our mommy doesn't collect our whiskers mainly because we hide them where she can't find them. We'll try and drop a few where she can see them from now on though.
ReplyDeleteNo, no one collects my whiskers. I'll have to find out why... After all I am wonderful...
ReplyDeleteVery cool collection! They would make a good remembrance token. Our mum doesn't collect our whiskers...yet... but she sure makes a big deal when she finds them.
ReplyDelete-Pip, Smidgen, Minnie
Whisker saving is awesome! I have a couple, I can't save them all as I have no room (I really don't)...I also have one of Elizabeth's baby molars...
ReplyDeleteYup, she haf a couple from each one of us (including Punkin) and some of our furs and a couple of Zippy's baby teefs!
ReplyDeleteHow very strange. I'd keep an eye on her if I were you. :P
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
ReplyDeleteWe have never seen so many whisker in one place.
Dad has kept a couple but then lost them, guess I will have to sacrifice a couple in spring.
Thank you for sharing,
Miss Kitty
Well when I had an accident recently (when Milo smackpawed one of my whiskers owt) I hafta admit that momma kept it. She tucked it in a safe place 'cos she said it was too preshus to throw away!
ReplyDeleteI am relievd to read that ovver cats lose whiskers too ~ does this mean mine will grow back? I fort I'd lost it for ever!
Alfie xxx
What Au and Target said. Noooo, my Mom does many strange things, but she doesn't collect whiskers. But then there is only one of me. She admits it would be very interesting to compare whiskers if there was a whole houseful of whisker-producers here.
ReplyDeleteCool Collection !
ReplyDeletebut Boom just wonder how your mom collected from you guys ? Because Boom never seen my whisker drop on the floor !
Puddy : )
What a great collection! Those are some pretty cool whiskers :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lotta whiskers!! Momma collects ours too but I think we lose some Outside where she can't find them. One year at Halloween she dressed up as a cat and super glued real whiskers right to her face! Maybe she'll do that again one day......
ReplyDeleteWhiskers? I don't Tommy even knew we might shed them. She might look for now on, or make us carry around a Dust buster...do your Mom make pretty pictures with your whiskers?
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely long whiskers you kitties have. Our mum doesn't collect ours, but she always has a good look when she finds them.
ReplyDeleteUmm... No. That's a really lot of whiskers! Wowie.
ReplyDeleteThat is some collection of whiskers. Well done Mom. I guess because we go outside a lot, we lose ours outdoors. So Mom doesn't collect them but she is going to start looking for some now.
ReplyDeleteHope all of you at that Lounge have a great day.
Yes, our mom collects our whiskers, though she doesn't find them that often. She can't tell whose is whose, though. LOL.
ReplyDeleteShe also has saved some of our fur from brushing, because she has only a tiny bit of fur from Chumley that the vet sent her after he had to be pts. She wishes she had more of him, if you know what we mean, so now has separate baggies filled with all our fur!
Mom used to collect our whiskers, but with 15 it got out of control! When there was only me (Clarissa) and Sable, mom collected them. Mine are white and Sable has black whiskers. She was glad that she did have a couple of Angel Colin's whiskers. She has them with his ashes, collar, and picture of him.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Clarissa & Co.
OMG I do exactly the same thing!!!
ReplyDeleteI save the whiskers in my jewel box, although because everybody's are white, I have a hard time telling which ones came from which cat :-)
Our Moms don't collect our whiskers, but they do think they are pretty cool when they find them laying around.
ReplyDeleteWow, our Mom doesn't collect them, but when she finds one she makes a wish and blows them away! We think she always wishes for us to be happy and healthy, so we're okay with it...
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a bunch of whiskers, y'all can build something out of those!
ReplyDeleteGosh your mom has hundreds of your whiskers - mum doesn't save ours unless they are extra long.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your Mom is planning on building her own, very big robot cat and she needs whiskers to put on it to make it look 'real' or maybe she is planning on making a big snowcat this Winter and she's going to put the whiskers on that. Hmm, our Mom has saved a few of ours, but I found out where she put them...on those funny stuffed bears she has that our auntie gave her. Those bears almost look real now since they have our whiskers!! haha! Purrs, Lautrec
ReplyDeleteOur mom collects our whiskers too, and then puts them in this stuffed pig. That pig is crazy looking!
ReplyDeleteWe have collected whiskers to give to a friend of ours, who uses them in paper marbling to make interesting designs. We are glad our cats help make artwork. But we don't collect them regularly. We'd like to, but we don't know what to do with them, LOL.
ReplyDeleteArchie says, 'My mum can't find any of my whiskers because they are so very black, and I don't think I've lost many yet - but she has kept some of Newton's white whiskers taped into a little book. Humans are strange.' xx
ReplyDeleteOH MY WHISKERS!!! That is hilarious....what does you plan to do with them????Possibly make you a whisker toy?
ReplyDeleteMOL
Madi update on Papa on tomorrow's post...
What a wonderful collection!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove to all of you from all of us.
Our mom doesn't collect whiskers, but she feels a little pang of guilt whenever she finds one and throws it away!
ReplyDeleteA most impressive collection! #1 says she used to collect fallen whiskers from her first cat, Ikkyu, and keep them for good luck. But she hasn't been doing it for us.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Our mom collects our whiskers!
ReplyDeleteShe saw in another blog someone who did it and had them in a pretty vase. They looked beautiful in it.
She only started about a year ago, but she keeps them in a pretty vase too.
pee ess to The Girls: Thanks for the whisker humps comment. Made my day!
WOW~!!! That's A LOT of whiskers! Mom finds ours around the house and then pokes us with them and says, "How do you like it?" She's an ass.
ReplyDeleteGoodness!!! What an incredible collection!! How wonderful and brilliant that mum knows which ones belong to which beautiful kitty - that's truly amazing! Me and Charlie are impressed!! I'm quite your mum's opposite - I tend to hoover up Charlie's shed fur and whiskers and anything else asap!!
ReplyDeleteCharlie says: the silly lady I live with has no sense of nostalgia or whimsy. I truly despair.
Take care
x
My humans don't keep my whiskers, but they might if they could find them!
ReplyDeleteNo, Mama doesn't do this and juding by this post and lots of the comments, she's the unique one. This is so sweet. I think it means you're all loved a lot (of course, you already knew that(.
ReplyDeleteOh noes! We think now our mom will be sharing your mom's dirty little secret! Ours use to save all the furs she would comb out in plastic baggies. She has since stopped. One kitty who-came-before-us she had collected over 20 baggies in 2 years! She was a long haired Himmalayan. Now she just keeps it down to one bag from everycat she's ever had.
ReplyDeleteOur Meowm was collecting our whiskers, but she went on a cleaning spree and tossed them all out! Can you believe she threw out such special mementos?
ReplyDeleteMy mom collects our whiskers too! When she finds one lying around, she puts it in her jewelry box, because she can't bear to throw away something so special. Ambrose has super long white ones with dark brown roots, Teddi has white ones, and Grrreta and Chloe have gray ones. Mommy feels very relieved that she's not the only mom who does this. (The Kool-Kitty-Krew's comment made us laugh a lot).
ReplyDeleteMom has saved some of mine. She's even saved some of my furrs, I don't know what she is up to with it.
ReplyDeletepurrin

Abby
My Mommy saves mine,,,and she saved my before Sisfur, Robin's whiskers. Her human sons were so heartbroken that they have some whiskers that Robin shared with us. Mine..she tapes to her Daddy's picture. Mommy loves our whiskers.
ReplyDeleteomgosh you could make a whisker collage!!
ReplyDeletethank you for commenting on our post just now. we are contacting the CB to see if we can get the word out.
thank you.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteMy mom had some baby teeth from my old bro Eddie. Then one day, some mean person came into the house and stole them (and some other stuff, too)! That was way, way before me. And even though I was tiny when I moved in, she never found any of my baby teeth.
*eyes widen* What do you do with those whiskers?? Every once in a while our Mom will find a whisker of ours here & there. She just throws them away because ONE of us likes to eat them (& everything else!!)
ReplyDeleteWe'll give you three guess who that is - (& here's a hint, he's not a meezer!)
~Nico, Simon & JayJay :)
ps. May Ling, can you please come over & snuggle with Simon - he's not feeling very well right now & he may have to go to the *gasp* v-e-t tomorrow!! :(
I am torn between saying "Yeeeeeewwwwww" and feeling resentful that my Human doesn't consider my whiskers worth saving. She just says, "Huh. A whisker" and then she throws it right in the garbage can like it was nothing at all!
ReplyDeleteBut still: Yeeeewww.
Wow! That is a whole lotta whiskers!! And we're amazed that your mom can tell which one came from what cat!! Our mom keeps our whiskers when she finds one but she doesn't have a whole lot.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! No, our mom does not collect our precious whiskers. Anything that falls off of us gets ruthlessly sucked up by a vaccuum cleaner.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a lot of whiskers. Our mum just keeps one from every cat she has had. Dad keeps one of each of ours in his glasses case when he goes on holiday.
ReplyDeleteWay Kewl! Our mewmie has a few, maybe a dozen or so, from cats who came before. She has them in a little wine glass from Germany that her mom brought her from Schwarzkatz country. Our CRex whisker are kinda fine and small and curly and unless she plucked them from us (perish the thought!) she would never find them.
