And Now a Word from Our Sponsor...

Kitties!

The Baby here.
 Guess what?

Today is Mommy & Daddy's 17th wedding anniversary!

So I'm gonna gossip a little about them, especially Daddy.

A long time ago, when I was still a youngster, Mommy & Daddy lived in Illinois where there are long cold dreary Winters.  They lasted forever.  This didn't bother us Kitties much, but they affected Mommy terribly.  She would get profoundly depressed.

Of course this worried Daddy to no end.  So in May of 2001 they decided to shake up their lives and move where there were no more horrible days without Mister Sun.  They applied for jobs in Las Vegas, and made a deal that whoever got a job first would be the "traditional" worker and the other person would stay home and be the support system.  They decided that life was too short and simplification was the way to go.

Mommy got the call first, and by the end of August she was living in Las Vegas, starting her new job!
Then September 11, 2001 happened.  Mommy & Daddy were very concerned...they were 2000 miles apart, with a house to sell, and kitties in both locations.  But it happened!  By the end of October we were all back together.

And after the initial flurry of buying a house, et cetera, Daddy was bored stiff with being a house husband.
He had a small business selling stuff from the 1960's & 70's;  cool, cheezy retro things, and he got personalized car plates with the name of his business on them:  Cheez-Biz!
Yes, Mommy knows that there aren't 12 kitties on the car!

As businesses sometimes do, Daddy's changed, and he now specializes in selling cassette tapes.  He has the largest eBay store (in the world!) dealing in vintage cassette tapes.  Look it up!  The store name is "only vintagecassettetapes", or click here.

But Daddy kept his car plates...
...and yesterday Mommy & Daddy gave the car a new name!
heh heh.

Kitties, this is the front of Daddy's business card...

...and this is the back.
Srsly, contact him if you have a collection of tapes to get rid of!
Mommy says 30,000 tapes isn't enough.

So that is what our Daddy does when he's not herding 12 Kats.
(Which sometimes takes all day...)

Kitties, we LOVES our Daddy & Mommy.

Happy Seventeenth!

Our mom haf SAD, seasonal affective disorder but daddy maded her a light box (because dey were really aspensive) and now she sits wif her head in it and doesn't feel so bad in da winter. Besides, she sez she handles cold better den da hots. She sez yoo can always put on yoor woolies and a sweater but you can only take off so much afore yoo start taking off skin...and she likes haffing skin cuz it keeps her insides from falling out.

  9. Happy anniversary to your Mom and Dad. This is an interesting story about how and why they moved. Mom remembers the scaryness of being away from family members after 9/11. It was awful.

We'll keep the eBay business in mind when we get around to going through some old cassette tapes we still have.

  10. Happy anniversary to your mom and dad! We think they're pretty cool people. We hope they have a terrific day!

Our mom understands all about SADs because her own struggles are harder during the long, cold, dark, green-less months. Smart of your parents, to move to a place with plenty of sunshine and no snow!

  28. Hi Baby,
A very big congrats to your mommy and daddy on their 17th wedding anniversary! Thanks for sharing their story of why and how they came to live in Vegas. It was fun to read.

Mama is bummed. They used to have LOTS of cassettes. They lived near Berkley, CA for a few years and there was a used cassette tape store there. They bought and traded all the time. At some point, probably during one of their many moves, they got rid of them all. Darn!

    Love the new car's name!

  29. Happy Anniversary. We like hearing about you and your history :) We asked Äiti what cassettes are and they sound like fun - all that little tape inside to pull and chew, hehehe. But she doesn't have any cassettes - not proper ones anyway. But Äiti does have SAD and now she lives in FInland that's a bit of a challenge and she has lots of lights to get through it. But the summer nights - wow - they just go on forever :)

  42. 17 years is a real achievement these days.. congratulations! And wonderful to have two kindred spirits with such a love for cats. I laughed when I read your comment that there weren't 12 cats on the car window. I'll bet I wasn't the only one who started to count them before reading the narrative!

  43. Happy 17th Anniversary!! We're glad they came ro Las Vegas!!

  44. Concats on 17 years - that is an accomplishment!! The story of the move gives a lot of insight into why the marriage is a successful one. Our mom has some cassettes, but she just cannot part with them. Something about being significant teenage memories. Get over it, lady - you're 40 now and there is no going back!

  47. Happy Anniversary to your mummy and daddy - we've just had our 22nd! I think it's really sensible of them to have taken such decisive action about moving and sorting out jobs, I'm so glad it worked out and you can all be together. We hate dreary winters and sunshine is definitely the answer if you can find more of it! xx

  48. Glad you two are together in a sunny clime! Happy belated anniversary! (with a lot of cats of course)
