ESS is for Silly Sunday!

 Kitties!

My name is Rupert, and I am a Rootaholic.

Valerian Root, that is.

Mommy purchases it for us, by the POUND, and Daddy sprinkles it around for us to enjoy.

It comes from an online store called Frontier Natural Products Co-Op.
The link to the Root we love is HERE.

I love the stinky feet smell.

I love the stinky feet taste.

It makes me so crazypants that Daddy can't get a clear photo!

I can't eat it fast enough.

I open my mouth WIDE to gobble it down.

EXTREME CLOSE UP!!!!

I foam and dribble in ecstasy.

I'm a tiny bit embarassed that you all saw me like this...but not enough to stop.

I can stop any time--in fact, I DO stop.

Mainly because I can't get the lid off the jar...

Happy Sunday!

XX  Rupert the Rootaholic

  2. I have never heard of this as a cat treat. Does it mae them as silly as catnip does? Or does it make them relax after ingesting it all? Sounds like an interesting idea to try out...especially if they eat it all up rather than leaving little bits all over the floor (which is what happens when we give out dried catnip...little trails all over the place!)

  3. Maybe we'll have to get some of this for our kitties. We just grew them some oat grass.

  4. Oh that tongue!!!!! Squeeeeee!

  5. I mean doesn't that mean you don't have a problem if there are times when you don't have it because you can't get the lid off the jar?

  6. I have never had valerian root. Rupert, you have me convinced that I am TOTALLY missing out!

  7. Love the extreme close up. You can even see the tiny barbs on the tongue!

  8. Rupert; your name is waaaaay cool by the way. Your steely gun metal grey color is quite 007! Accented by two purrrfectly gorgeous green eyes i think I'm feelin faint and it ain't the root!

I'll have That Woman bookmark the root page & order us some when she gets paid next.

Thanks for the referral of the pusher...er... supply!

  17. We asked mum about this and she said she didn't know that cats liked valerian root and she hadn't seen any. We think she may have a secret stash that she's keeping for herself!!

  18. hee hee hee what a silly boy. I'm not a fan of catnip but maybe I should try this, Rupert seems to like it.

  19. "root-a-holic" lol. Did you catch the new show called "Must Love Cats" on the Animal Planet last night? They had a hugely informative and entertaining segment about catnip farms that exist in the Pacific Northwest. I learned soooo much that I hadn't known before.

  20. Wow, Rupert, you sure do like your root! I love that stinky feet smell too. I'm gonna get Mama to check out that web site.

  21. Hey Rupert a kittie has to do what a kittie has to do regardless if there is a flashie box around. Don't fret as we all have been caught in this type of situation before. I am glad that you enjoy your root stuff so much! Life is good, no life is great!

  22. hahahaaa - we are amazed at your passion for the root and have instructed Mrs H to investigate this for US! Lovely post and thanks for visiting us, we value you popping by. Love Darcy, Bingley, Helen xxx

  24. Great tongue shots, Rupert :). We prefer nip over valerian, but that's just us (and also mainly becuase mom doesn't like the stinky feet smell...) have a great Sunday!

  25. That looks soooooo good. We have never had pure root, but our plague ratsie is stuffed with a mixture of nip and valerian and I love it. Even Eric who doesn't do nip like the smell of the valerian.

  37. hmmmmmmmmmm I't totally a nip head, but maybe it is time for something stronger. Maybe nip is my gateway herb into valarien root...
i wonder if I can get the credit card outta mommy's purse...

Hey, I can't get stoopid blogger to add your blog address as a link! Isn't that bizarre? Mommy is going to try again tomorrow.

  38. Love the extreme close up!!!!

  39. I've never had any of that stuff before, but that is some recommendation!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh Cod. Now I suppose the Admiral is going to forget all about me.

    ReplyDelete
  41. We think there's an intervention in your future, Rupert.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Rupert, if you could stretch that tongue any longer, it would reach China! Oh my cod, you are so addicted! (I want some) Do you worry? (I want some NOW). Maybe it only "seems" addicting (that's what I'll tell Mom). Yep, that's settled, I'm going to ask Mom to ck it out :D All that happiness should really be passed around!

  43. Lovely pics! Thanks for your kind words about Au. We will make sure his last days are happy, and we won't let him suffer.

  44. We've never heard of Valerian root as a kitty treat. There is a holistic shop in town that sell all kinds of roots and stuff. Mom said she'll see if they have it there. If not, then she'll order us some. She's wondering if the few of us who don't like nip might like this instead.

    Purrs,
    Clarissa & Co.

  45. Yes...we like it too, as well as stinky socks! But Teri hasn't never caught it on film like this!
