Kitties!
Daddy was walking down the hall when he saw this:
Now, while the fact the bed is made is amazing, the thing we'd really like you to notice is The Lump.
Now, Lumps aren't something you see every day around here. Bed Warts yes, Lumps no.
Daddy had to check it out.
He started his investigation by gently touching The Lump. It was small, firm, and emitted tiny irritated "mews" when palpated.
Intrigued, Daddy decided to delve into The Lumpen mystery further.
He lifted the quilt...
..and The Lump was revealed.
Salem: Daddy, I'm trying to sleep here!
Curiosity satisfied (and suitably chastened), Daddy lowered the quilt,
tip-toed out of the room,
and The Lump resumed her slumber.
Happy Wednesday!

Miss Salem, is it cold in the desert? Looks like you've got a great den there!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you weren't disturbed while you were making a lump...
ReplyDeleteOMG, I'm stunned, Salem !
ReplyDeleteFrom the first photo, The bed looks so neat !!!
I wonder How you get in there without the blankie been moved !
Great Sneaky : )
xoxo
That's excellent undercover fur infiltration - did you manage a little yakking of grass on the sheets as a reminder that lumping is a private activity, not to be disturbed. How mean of your Daddy to check on you - he should have just counted the others and worked out it was you Salem! Or were the others being lumps elsewhere ?
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, Salem! Looks really nice and inviting in there, what with those JLLs all warm and toasty. Maybe I could join you sometime?
ReplyDeleteOur lump is usually named Farm Cat Sherpa and it's a bit erm, lumpier
ReplyDeleteMust be a tuxie girl thing, Sadie loves to sleep under the kwilt too!
ReplyDeleteHee! We have a tuxie lump here too!!
ReplyDeleteSalem you looked very comfy! We hope you resumed your lump nap!
ReplyDeleteBaby and Jack don't sleep under the covers and wonder how there is enough air under there.
ReplyDeleteLeave it to a human to not leave well enough alone, right, Salem? At least he took off fairly quickly.
ReplyDeleteWell how can you blame her? I'd emit irritated mews too if I was being palpated for pitys sake!

Ms Stella O'Houligan
At least Daddy didn't prick the lump with anything sharp! purrr....meow!
ReplyDeletehi Ms Salem, i'm Mr BoBo Salem hehehe
ReplyDeleteLumping is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteDad's can be such a pest, can't they? They pester yoo when yoo're busy sleeping.
ReplyDeleteWe get similar lumps around here too *innocent eyes*
ReplyDeleteSuch a neat lump too!
ReplyDeleteSalem, that's so cute and cosy! We wouldn't figure out how to crawl under the covers--we don't do that!
ReplyDelete-Fuzzy Tales
It's the lumps that make the batter good!
ReplyDeletehe he that lump is so cute.
ReplyDeleteSalem, I hope you enjoyed that slumber. Too bad your dad tried to disturb it!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY LUMP DAY!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to sleep, Salem! We think you figured out a way to have some alone time in a house full of kitties. Hopefully your Daddy won't spill the beans to the other kitties!
ReplyDeleteAwww beautiful Salem!! You are the bestest looking and most mysterious lump ever!!! How you got under the covers without crinkling the sheets is truly a work of wonder!! Yay for you!! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Oh goodness those humans are not very bright sometimes. Any kitty would know that it was a kitty under the blankets without needing to take picutres and poke!
ReplyDeleteinevitably whenever i find a bed lump Diego-san is not present and accounted for...
ReplyDeleteSalem - Your Daddy was not satisfied with just disturbing your lumping he's told the whole world where your lump is!!
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
He was right to check out the lump, all mysterious lumps must be investigated, both bed and skin types.
ReplyDeleteSalem we are glad he didn't decide to excise you and just left you there instead!
Mom and dad try to figure out who the lump is without looking. It's kind of a game to them.
ReplyDeleteMy Bean is making a similar kind of lump now. Thank you for the heads-up about what to do. My usual approach is to instigate the claw-launch game, but if I do that then she refuses to feed me treats for forever, like I don't know, ten minutes. Maybe the snappy tactic is the way to go. Where is that snappy thing?
ReplyDelete[Later.] Well I tried the snappy thing but she wrenched it out of my paws and smashed it. She was yelling something about if I post pictures of her like that, next thing she'll do is kill me.
You can see. We're getting kinda cabin-crazy here. It's still raining.
Send help.

We don't get to make too many bed lumps since mom leaves the bedroom door closed during the day, but Tim likes to make sofa lumps under the sofa cover. :)
ReplyDeleteScooter prefers the "hide and seek" game under the covers rather than napping. I love that she managed to crawl up in there without disturbing the rest of the made bed--impressive stealthery! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is lounging lumping at its finest!
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, we used to have lumps just like that all over our house. I don't know how many times Mom sat on our lump.Glad you got to get back to your nap Salem.
ReplyDeletehehehe. Gandalf's litter-mate brother BooBoo is also a Lump, every day-all day! He's been doing that since he was a wee tiny kitten and he has not yet broken with tradition. He doesn't come out until suppertime!
ReplyDeleteVery good work Salem! This post makes my mommy laff-n-laff. She likeded when your Daddy palpitated the lump. We also laffed at Peaceful's commint, very witty!
ReplyDeleteHave a good lump day kitties!
Lumps must be contagious. We discovered one here for the first time last week too.
ReplyDeleteWe have been making like lumps here too cuz we are afraid of the thunder!
ReplyDeleteIza is the bed lump in our house. And I am the designated lump-whapper!

What a tidy lump of sweetness! Esme loves lumping too:)
ReplyDeletethe critters in The Cottage
I know my mom loves lumps so I oblige her once in a while when I'm feeling good. If Rupert is here though, we always go under and there's a bigger lump.
ReplyDeletexoxox
My boy, Tucker, is our lump. He only does it, though, when somebody comes to do work on the house. My girls head under the bed; Tucker lumps. He clearly thinks he's invisible!
ReplyDeleteLizzie & 3 kitties
Hmmmm.....we are not under cover sleepers. We purrfur sleeping on the top of the covers. But it must be warm under there!
ReplyDeleteWe hope you had a nice nap Salem, despite the interruption!
Nothing wrong with that, Salem! Moosey likes to be the bed lump here sometimes, and Angel Graphite used to do it all the time. Pleasant dreams. :)

MOL Salem you are a kitty after my own heart. I love being under the covers too.
ReplyDeleteI had a good MOL at mom being selfless to buy Dad a cake. As you probably figured out it was 50% for her and 50% for him.
They are about to indulge as soon as she stops typing. Hugs Madi
Salem
ReplyDeleteWe hope you got all of your catnaps in!
