Friday Fun with Feces!

Kitties!

Scooping the litterbox pools at out house is not for the faint of heart or the weak of back.
Thirteen Cats make a LOT of dung.

Daddy is Cap'n Scoop!

He takes a garden rake through the sand to loosen and gather our offerings together, and then he scoops 'em up into a biodegradeble plastic bag.

In the name of Science for fun, he weighed our 24-hour output.
Bear in mind it's hot here so our clumps are dry.

Nine pounds, eight ounces.
Is that incredible or what!?!
We need to work harder.

Happy Friday!

  1. Holy Jumpin' Cod! Ever since I first saw that you use a kiddy-pool, I have always wanted to know this factoid. Now my mind is at rest. It is keeled over, as a matter of fact. Out cold. Some would say that'd be a relief.

  12. Whoa! How many acres of farm would 9lb 9oz fertilise? My Mama always complain what the six of us pooped daily can enrich a 200-acre land. But she hasn't gotten round to weighing the poop yet. Kudos to your Dad. He's a hero. har har har *evil laughs*

  14. Don't think I could have lived another day without knowing this fact! Though I rushed in here thinking you'd made a typo for "faces"!!!

Happily I don't have to weigh Austin's poop as he takes his little private moments in the big outdoors.

I think daddy is a hero, I really do :)

  29. I get pretty grossed out by TWO cats' worth of stuff - your dad is one brave dude to deal with all of yours!! On the plus side, it sounds like none of you have the stinky poo issue that Melly does. I am considering investing in a gas mask.

  30. Cap'n Scoop at your service!!
We Love your daily life type posts. There's never a shortage of stuff going on at your place, even the mundane becomes interesting.

  44. Aaah..yes...the necessary but not so enjoyable part of having kitties! If we had room in our basement for the kiddy ("kitty") pool that would be a good idea. Currently we have four toilets tucked underneath the stairs (supposedly one per cat) but it always seems there is one favorite spot that all four go to.

    ReplyDelete
  45. that is pretty sizable for 12 kitties
bonks and bronks for a fun 4th of July

    ReplyDelete
  46. Holy crap! That's a full time job! Every time Mom sees one of those little blue pools at the store, she thinks of you guys!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow! That is half my weight, so every 2 days you all do an Eric's worth of poop.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mom just started giggling over your title! She laffed and laffed, but she said she figures our daily output is around 5lbs. Some days are lighter than others for some reason. But then there are only 5 of us...
