SuperCat Saturday!

Kitties!

Felix here.

Mommy found some fun photos of me in the archives...
As you know, one of my main duties is to help Daddy with his business.

Some of his stock comes in fun boxes and baskets and such.
I subject each one to rigorous quality control testing.
First, I approach the container suspiciously with my neck stretched out as faaaaar as it will go.  (Mommy calls this the "Giraffe Kitty".  She is mean and does Not Understand that menacing creatures could be lurking.)
I make sure I'm ready to LEAP BACK at all times. You never know if there's a monster or ogre or troll on there!  It doesn't matter if it's a clear plastic box or an open basket like this red one, they get the same inspection, because everybody knows the HORRIBLEST monsters are invisible.
Once I'm reasonably happy the container is safe, I'll sniff it, and rub my (face) cheeks on it.  My whisker holes exude my Special Scent that marks the box (or whatever) as MINE.

Then, and only then, will I get in the box.
Or, in this case, the basket.

Eventually Daddy notices me, picks me up, and puts me on his desk.
Then he pesters me.
He tries giving me the "Parrot Treatment" to put me to sleep.

WRONG!
Daddy, I can't sleep, you know I have a job to do!

I'm the Chief Wax Paper Eater,
And I have the Cape to prove it!

Happy Saturday!

  2. Felix, I get the sneaking suspicion that your humans do not appreciate the good job you do of inspecting these foreign containers!

  4. Lol ! Arthur jumps in every box or basket without any checking out and stays glued into it. No way to get him out. It's crazy that all cats in the world love boxes so much !

  8. Felix dear,
Do you charge by the hour or day? Also make sure your Dad observes the minimum wage rule...you know...so many scritches per week, so many treats etc etc etc. Oooo...is the wax paper HACCP accredited as well? har har har *evil laughs*

  9. Felix, are you going to let Dad get away with dressing you in a cape?? We thinks we would object big time to that dress. But you are a good boy to help Dad. Take care and hope all at the Lounge have a fun week end.

You are so right that the most horriblest of all monsters are invisible.

  17. You do all that for your dad and he just removes you from the basket? Cripes you need to find another job where you'll be more appreciated.

  18. You are very dedicated at the task on hand, and they say all cats have asperger's. You proved them wrong.

  21. Quality control on the baskets is very important! You are right to give them all the same inspection!

THE PARROT TREATMENT! Did you sqawk and ask for crackers? NO! He nuts! Glad you don't put up with that kind of behavior and stick seriously to your job.

  22. Felix, I love the clothespin and the dress-up cape outfit. But...overall, I don't think you're taken seriously enough. You are a cat who thinks inspections should be part of everyday quality control!

  23. Felix,

    Now that, is a cape!

Looks like you're got your routine down pat, too. Ummm, you've also been a bit hard on that red basket. But as long as you can still fit in there and get your job done, it's all good.

  24. I love the way you clarified the statement "rub my (face) cheeks". You funny funny boy.

  25. Quality Control is a very important job. Scooter snoopervises all my jewelry making endeavors, while Harry and Dizzy prefer watching me cook. Pip is just generally happy being lazy. PS: Can we get capes, too?

  26. We love your cape! Thanks so much for the nice comment on our new blog. Looks like we can learn alot from you, like blogging and basket testing.

  27. Felix, your container checking out technique sounds very thorough and it's good you practice such safety like being ready to leap back if something skerry is inside it. You do deserve that super cape and we also think you deserve lots of treats for all your help to your daddy!

  28. Good job Felix. Every home needs a supercat

  29. Wow, Felix, you are furry brave to check out those baskets like that! You definitely deserve your superhero cape!

  30. Hey! That clothes-pin idea is a great one. I love your commentators' yuks with the cape thing, but on the serious side, the cloth Felix models as a cape can also be used to replicate the effect of Temple Grandin's "squeeze machine," to help an angry or distressed animal feel more secure. My TTouch coach and I are working Bugs in that direction, and you should just see what Linda Tellington-Jones does -- I'll send you a link in another comment. The clothes-pin might really help. Cool-ee-oh as usual from you dear Nipper! AND -- I also enjoyed all the employment-law advice your commentators supplied. Let me add the suggestion that Felix might want to join an ERISA-qualified retirement program. If he ever needs to declare bankruptcy -- which I KNOW he won't, of COURSE he won't, not at the Lounge, good heavens what was I thinking, but in this economic climate you never know, it's possible, the retirement fund might be exemptible. Felix will know where to find a good lawyer to advise him on this point. Maybe Huffle Mawson might be willing? If Felix could afford her hourly rate? She seems pretty dang clever at getting Teddy to take blame for stuff . . . . Just a thought. --Anita & Bugs.

  32. OK here's the link to where I write about Tellington & include a video of Linda Tellington-Jones. If you wanna skip my verbiage and get to the video -- I highly recommend it, it's really something to see -- just scroll down to the end of the post and click on the YouTube link. Cheerio y'all. 33. Whoops -- just had to add real quick, when watching the vid one more time -- I'm guessing the clothes-pin would go around the BACK of the animal. Not under the chin. Not for this use. With Felix and the cape, tho, no prob. I'm talking about an animal that's angry or scared and clearly Felix is total coolness personified. Catonified, that is. Anyway, I'm gonna consult my TTouch coach about this clothes-pin idea in the application I'm thinking of (and I may write more over @ my place some other time). x0x0x A&B

  34. Especially love the last photo! So cute. I think it is so funny that your have a porch that is filled with all kinds of things to climb on and hide in and you like the little red plastic box.
I do have to agree with you on that though as the boxes are the bestest of the best to play in.

  35. We can see you work very hard checking baskets. You look very impressive in your cape.

  36. Hi Felix, you are such a hardworking kitty :-) It's funny your dad gave you a "Parrot Treatment"! Yes, he is so wrong... :-)
You are very cute in the cape. We hope you will have a very happy weekend!!

  38. Felix, your daddy is very lucky to have such a good helper. You look like a superhero in your cape.

    ReplyDelete
  39. We do think that cape is pretty nifty! I think I need one! You like to eat waxed paper? My sister Spooky likes to eat envelopes!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh Felix! How could your Daddeh put that cape of shame around your mancatly neck--and to close it with a clothespin! Insult to injury, Man, insult to injury.

    He needs to PAY.

  41. Felix, you are such a good helper. We know your daddy couldn't get anything done without you. And we like your cape...it makes you look like a super hero!!

  42. With so many computer-literate kitties out there, I'm so glad mine aren't among them. They'd all be pestering me relentlessly to make them capes. Very cool.
