The Evil Hummerburd Returneth

Kitties!

The Baby here, and wowie-kazowie do I have a story for YOU!
Grab a few kibbles and some cat sip and pull up a bed--it's a long one.
So, I was noodling around Outside the other morning...

...just checking out the area to make sure everything was in order.
Henry's Hut was stocked, so after having a nibble and a freestyle pee in the dirt...

...I settled in my regular spot under the Mexican Honeysuckle.
I hang out here in the mornings, it's a nice quiet spot.

Until it isn't.
The Evil Hummer started shouting at me!
Do you see him up on the left in the star jasmine?

He sure had a foul mouth.
I can' believe his kisses his wife with that beak.

Naturally, I couldn't let that go--I told him off BIG time!
I told him "Eck eck eck eck eck"!!
And you all know what THAT means.

Unfortunately, so did he...
...and he took exception to my remarks!

He decided to dive bomb me, the cheeky bugger.
And was he ever FAST, darting all over.

Kitties, you might not know this, but Hummers are Evil.
They get right up in your face and taunt you and tease you and...

...they ATTACK you!
It's pretty traumatic.

In fact, he Ruined my Good Time.
I had to go sit under the Red Bench to escape him, for Cod's sake.

Kitties, do you know where I can get a net?
And a Cannon?
tweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
(translation:  "heh heh")

Happy Thursday!

  1. Yes, The Baby, I know where you can get what you need to deal with the evil hummer. I can paw at my mom's purse and get her credit card...and my paws are infamous for working a keyboard. Online order was made for us kitties!

  2. Pisi and Squeak also said "eck eck eck eck" when they saw that evil hummer. And -- you are one gorgeous cat! Lovin' those green eyes.

  3. He who laughs last, laughs best. Still. My money's on The Baby. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

  4. Why didn't you smack some manners into that cheeky little bird?

  5. We cannot believe you've gone public with this! You got your butt thwacked by a hummer! He was ducking and diving and humming and flying rings round you - you have to do something (maybe try using your paws to thwack him). Hang on, Äiti is saying something about how fast they are - think Finnish mosquito only with a million times the body weight....). Okay, that is scary. Maybe you are forgiven. But you HAVE to do something - he is a cheeky bugger indeed. If you like I can send the Burmese butterballs over as they are bound to be faster!

  6. Wow, what fantastic pictures!!!! Maybe the hummer has a nest nearby and didn't want the Baby around her babies.

  8. We think that Hummer was just getting closer to admire your beauty The Baby! Your purrsonal photographer got some great photos of the whole meeting!

  9. Wow, The Baby, I can't believe how nervy that bird was, getting all close like that.

You showed remarkable restraint. Although...there's not much to those tiny things. Kinda like eating a fly, I'd imagine.

  10. Ha!! Awesome action shots of the evil hummingbird! Poor Baby, being tormented by the eensy birdy. On the plus side, it's so little that it probably wouldn't be worth the energy to catch it!

  16. We have seen our hummers dive bomb each other but never a kitty! Your humans got some fantastic pictures there. Glad you are safe!

  17. LOL! Years ago, I was dive-bombed by a hummer protecting its nest, conveniently located in my rose bush! It was like getting stabbed in the head by a pin - quickly and repeatedly.

The pain is made worse by the fact that you can't really see what is doing it to you since the bird flies quickly behind you when you look up.

I had to leave the area and kind of sneak up on it to learn it had been a hummer attacking me. It was all pretty traumatic.

I eventually resorted to wearing a hard hat in the garden until the baby hummers were reared. That part was fun. I got to watch the parents teaching the chicks to fly.

  19. I think birds in general are kind of an obnoxious critter - but that one in particular is pure evil.

Best of Luck to you in your quest for revenge on that cheeky little bugger.

  44. Oh COD, that was so exciting. That hammer has your number. Those aren't as bad an the mocking birds we have here. They actually peck us. But the hammers do dive bomb really badly. Glad you survived. Take care.

  46. What a mean little bird! We would think he'd understand what you meant when you said, "Eck Eck Eck." Maybe they don't understand kitteh-ese. Sorry he ruined your good time, Baby. :(

    ReplyDelete
  53. You know what, The Baby? I think you are just too well-fed to bother with something that's barely a mouthful.

But I think he deserved a swat, just for the disrespect.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Dear Cod I have the same thing going on over here!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Baby, how bad mr hummer attacked you. We saw one fly really close to mum once when she was standing by their feeder. She ducked.

  56. Our Granny has bunches of Hummers and they are the fightinest birdies around! Its like our Julie, just cause they're cute, doesn't mean they nice! (And the girl ones are worse than the boy ones - like Julie)

  57. Baby, Baby, Baby. All you have to do is recruit a few of the gang, set up your game plan, and wait for his return. If four of you felines can't take care of one little hummer, however sly and crafty, you may want to ask mom not to document it with her beautiful pictures. I have every confidence that you and a few of the boys can take care of one little birdie. Happy hunting.

  58. Holy canoli! We never knew hummers could be so vishus!! Michigan Hummers aren't like that at all!!

  62. That was too cute, ummmmm our hummers are afraid of us Scylla actually caught one and Arty almost did.

Don't worry Daddy saved the one Scylla caught. He took it away from her and it flew off.
