Wednesday Wildlife in Arizona!

Kitties!

Mommy Trish here, reporting from Sedona, Arizona!

I can only IMAGINE how much trouble I'm in at home with The Horde...and it's not gonna get any better after they see this post, because it's all NOT about them.

Instead, here's some wildlife from my Mom & Dad's yard in Tucson.  The Sonoran Desert has almost three times as much rain than the Mohave (where Las Vegas is) and has a lot more plants and animals.
Mr. Roadrunner--meep meep!

An anonymous orb weaver.

Bobcat kitten settling into the hose pot for a snooze...this is in their front yard!

Kitten #2 at the base of the Palo Verde tree in front.

And strolling along the rocks by the sidewalk.

Kitten #3 was busy climbing the tree.

Mama must have been around, unless she parked the kittens while she went hunting--she's done that before--but my Mom didn't see her with them.  They are already larger than Johnny!

  2. See, you just can't get away from the Kittehs.

You know, I bet just ONE a them Bobcat kittens could keep all 13 of your crew in line pretty good. Even The Baby, MOL.

  5. We are supporting the abandoned 13 and refuse to comment on this post even if it does include cute bobcats and tasty fast food. We demand your instant return and will not be commenting until you do.

  9. Whoa, a real live roadrunner! Cool! Those kittens are so cute, but I'm sure I would not like to meet them in a dark alley.

  15. Bobcats...in the front yard! I suppose you can't just walk out and pet them but are they aggressive in anyway? They look absolutely stunning.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow! what beauties! We have nothing like that. Yes I was wondering whether they were aggressive?

  21. How amazing and wonderful to see bobcats in your very own yard!

  22. A serious question from the mom: How do the humans in general get along with the wildlife (specifically the bobcats) being *right there*? Here many would be up in arms, some would be ready to shoot to kill, others would be locking their children in the house, fearful. Happens with coyotes and bears in our region and too many times the four-leggeds are killed outright, under some trumped up excuse.

  23. Oh my gosh, the bobcats are amazing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd be scadaddaling if I was that roadrunner.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Absolutely amazing! And what great photography. That last picture is especially stunning.

It's great that you got the opportunity to get so up-close and personal with the wildlife. It must make your trip all the more memorable.

I'm sure The Horde will survive!

  26. Those bobcats are gorgeous and so are your pictures. The only interesting wildlife we get around her are bears and we tend to stay very far away from them when they are nearby.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Those bob cats are really stunning. They probably don't bother humans as long as the humans don't bother them. I certainly wouldn't feed them. I imagine the grandparents really enjoy watching them. Great pictures.

  28. Darling!!!! Look at those big ole paws they have to grow into! And I love those big tufted ears!

Ok mom, that's enough with the squee!
Round us up a flock of roadrunners and we'll be eternally grateful! Plus, those tail fevvers look like fun to play with when the bird is all nommed up.

  29. The bobcats are beautiful but I would not want them near me. I am a scaredypants goat.

The publicist fondly remembers the roadrunners from when she and the male person where traveling around in their fifthwheel and they stayed in New Mexico and Arizona.

  30. That is absolutely amazing how very wonderful to have those gorgeous creatures so very close. Mum was in raptures at the pictures. Hugs GJ xx

  32. What beautiful kittens! If you are in Sedona and they are in Tucson, did you get to see them? Our mommy would try to pet one.

  33. That's one smart mama Bobcat leavin' the wee ones at your mum's house! My GAWD aren't they just adorable!! Great shots too!

I must say I'm so happy to see the Roadrunner. I used to see them all the time at my grandma's house in Bullhead but it's so over developed now you hardly ever see them! :( We used to hunt for horny toads too when we were little, so much fun.

    Great post T!

  36. How cool to be so close to such wild wildlife.

    Beautiful photos..

  37. Stunning animals!!
I had no idea they came in so close to homes. I suppose it's like everywhere else..they've no where to go.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow! You have some very interesting wildlife there. I live in England and didn't even realise a roadrunner is a real bird, I just thought it was a cartoon! Excuse my ignorance.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Amazing pictures! Those little bob cat kittens are so cute. Pretty bird too. Hugs

  40. You left kitties only to be surrounded by wild kitties!!!

It would be cool to see them so close.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow! More kitties to adopt! When you took in CC & Scouty, they were only 2. Here's 3 kitties! And we're pretty sure they would make Scouty look like a tame cuddle bug. The mom lived in Phoenix for a couple years & never saw any bobcat kittens - she is SO jealous!

  42. Beautiful bobcat babies! We know of a woman who found a bobcat cub on the side of the road on her way to Whistler and thought it was a domestic kitten... brought it home ,bottle fed it and it grew and grew and grew...

  43. Some of us received an email at work one time with pictures of a bobcat roaming around our division in Colorado. They are gorgeous cats.

    ReplyDelete
  44. We don't get many bobcats in Missouri. They're beautiful creatures. I'll bet the smallest one would fit in a suitcase. Well, you don't have one, yet?

    ReplyDelete
  45. These guys look amazingly cuddly. Granted, you're not going to catch me trying to cuddle them.

    ReplyDelete
  46. How cool is that??? We 'specially liked that roadrunner! We'd like to chase him like the wiley coyote does!!

  47. Your paradice on earth is like ours!
Mes loves to see wildlife in other places!

  49. Oh my, I am catching up after not gtting to do my usual blog rounds yesterday and I'm so glad I didn't miss this - that last picture is just beautiful!!

  50. These are such amazing photos. I LOVED Arizona when I visited in April (and I spent two years illustrating a kids' book about Katie of the Sonoran Desert, so I know the flora and fauna well.) I wish I'd seen a roadrunner when I was there, but I did get to see a bobcat. The bobcat kittens are just gorgeous! (Okay, okay, not as gorgeous as the kitties of Katnip Lounge!)
