Still Feral Friday

Kitties!

Henry here.
I thought perhaps you all would like to see me today, so I came in for my foods early one evening and The Man took pictures.
I don't let The Man or The Woman get too close to me, although I do sit on the wall and watch them, and I know their voices.
Mommy:  Henry will eat out of my hand if I put it underneath the Catio wall.  He obviously feels safer with the wire between us.
I have some pretty swank digs--check out the stencil on my Hut--recently this cozy brown blanket appeared which is mysteriously warm all the time.
Mommy:  The magical heating pad!
A feral Mancat can't let himself get too soft though.  I need to do some patrolling.  After I finish off my nightly bowl of Stinky Goodness, that is.
Time to check out the mouthy palm tree denizens.
Those cheeky Hummers torment me, and the Mockerburds are just as bad!
You have NEVER heard such fowl language.
I have to talk back.
*eck, eck, chitter chitter ang ang*
I patrol the front yard too.
Yes?  May I help you?
Can't talk any longer; I've got Catly Business to attend to!

Mommy:  Now that the days are shorter Henry comes in to eat about 4:30 or so.  Our vet is open late two days a week, so the plan is to trap Henry soon and get him in to be neutered.  He isn't totally wild, but he's definitely Not Tame.  And we simply cannot have any more Cats in the house, so we're not pushing the issue.  Henry appears to be quite happy outside, and smart enough to stay out of trouble.  There's not a lot of traffic on our corner, either.  So we hope that he won't be offended by getting fixed and stick around--he keeps the pack rats and mice under control, as well as being a handsome addition to our yard.  Not that I wouldn't love to pet him...

Happy Friday!

  1. Woah - beware Henry: those humans want your 'nads for wall trophies, hehehehe. Actually, it seems that's the best place for 'em as it causes all sorts of suffering if you get to keep 'em.
You are such a lucky feral boy - we don't even have outdoor heated accommodation.
And by the way, we have heard the phrse 'can't possibly have anymore cats in our house' here - than along came Pekka, and then Jaava & Jura........
    Happy Friday all.

  3. I wish all out-door cats had your digs. That 'mom & dad' are terrific, aren't they? I like the saying..there's always room for one more.

  5. Henry, you are a very handsome Mancat! We know you're smart too because you picked the right house to hang out at!

  6. He certainly looks fat and sleek and super-well-cared-for for a feral boy! He should thank Mommy and Daddy who make his world such a rockin' place. (Well, he might not thank them too much for that whole snipping thing, but I think he knows he has such a good deal going on that it's in his own best interest to be forgiving!)

  7. Beautiful, you are. Nice to finally get to see you. I look forward to hearing how the trapping and vet adventure goes.

    Stay out of the road!

  8. Wow is he beautiful! I can relate to wanting to pet him, not sure I could resist trying to keep him in if I trapped him for fixing. He does look healthy for a feral guy, must be the good care he gets, the kindness of strangers.

  22. Henry's got a great set up and once he's neutered, he'll stick around, we're pretty sure. Toby did, he still comes for breakfast in the mornings, though it's rare to see him at other times of the day.

    Good luck trapping him!

  23. Wow, those are really cool digs...with Henry's name on it!!! Good luck with the trapping. He will forgive you I promise.

  24. Henry, I think you have a pretty awesome situation there. You're a handsome boy and will still be manly without your 'nads, not to worry.

  25. Good luck - and we are sure Henry knows he has found a good thing. We regularly see a couple of the kitties we TNR'd this summer....

  27. Henry, you have it good. Domino still has his heating pad outside but prefers his indoor nest. If it can happen to him it can happen to Henry. Purrsss.

  28. We understand about not needing another cat in the house! Sometimes it is hard for all of us to live here, nicely ^..^
Henry, you have a great set-up, and we are looking forward to reading about your adventure!!
    Happy Veterans Day,

  29. Henry is very handsome and it's great how he loves his warm blankie. We're sure he will be staying around.

  30. We certainly think Henry should make a trip to the vets and then he can still stay outside. Betcha too, that he will eventually let you pat him if you make him wait for his food rather than just have good there all the time for him. That is one great looking place for his bed and food. I was just trying to figure out some places for some of my outside cats.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So glad to see you, Henry! We hope your humans can trap you and get you snipped. You won't be happy about the latter, but you will stay closer to your wonderful house and out of trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Henry you are a handsome mancat!!
You have a nice set-up like our Zolie, except it gets to 20 below in the winter in these parts, and she is already enjoying her heaty bed. Its an attempt to get her out of the insulation in the rafters where she has spent the last two winters, so dad can seal that area off.
Mom longs to pet Zolie too, but she will bolt if anyone gets too close. Its good just knowing we are giving her the best life possible. Don't know if you remember but we trapped her this spring and got her spayed. Now she looks better, is calmer and stays close to home now. Maybe Henry will too.

  33. Henry! You and Bugs were separated at birth!! Wait, wait, incoming from Bugs -- what's that Bugs? I think he wants you to know that sacrificing the 'nads is no biggy. He said to tell you that he's been through that and it was actually a fun kind of thing for him coz he got to take a strip out of the vet's arm. bwahahah. You go Henry. Stinky treats after.

  34. Henry is a handsome cat! And he has a wonderful condo, me would loves to have a condo like that. They does lots of catch in release where we has lived. Outside cats can really help with the rodents. And yous don't need the nads. If yous keeps them yous don't live as long.
    Kisses
    Nellie

  35. You are wonderful to care for Henry like that. I am sure he will come back after the neuter--he has it too good to leave!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Henry's a very handsome cat. We hope his neutering goes well and he'll continue to stick around after that...and why not when he has his own hut (WITH his name printed on it) AND a heated bed. PLUS yummy food.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow, Henry! We had no idea the life of a feral cat could be so exciting. Your humans should be honored that you so carefully and steadfastly patrol the area for them. They are right to maintain such swank digs for you.

  38. OMC Henry and I could be siblings...Mom was amazed how how much we resemble one another even our eye color. Now if Henry just had a little black patch on his nose....
    Hugs Madi

  39. This is such a nice post, and you are so generous to give him such terrific digs! He is a handsome one, I must say.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love this and love that you give him a great warm place to sleep and food. I so think geting him fixed is a great idea and he will be all the better for that. You are such good people and I for one thak you for all the caring.. Hugs GJ xx

  41. Henry is such a handsome mancat, and even though he is an "outside cat" he sure does have nice digs. And a heated blankie too!! How cool is that?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks for your concern about Ed. He is on medi-cam for inflammation and was given a shot of pain-killer that should last a while. I don't think he is in pain as he lets us lift him massage his leg and try and exercise him without any distress. He is eating well, too. Baby steps I guess.
    Hugs, Deb

  44. We loved seeing Henry! We have a bet that one day your header will read "A Baker's Dozen +1 of Fabulous Kats!". After all, what's one more - right? Hee, hee, hee. Inside, outside, he's sort of yours. Oh well, either way, you and your home are an important part of his life and that's what counts.
