Kitties!
We've talked about Mr Chewy before: it's an on-line pet supply store that we simply LOVE.
We have a standing order for Taste of the Wild kibble which we find very delicious. More importantly, we haven't run out of kibble once since Mommy started the automatic delivery service.

So when we got an email offer to try a Natural Balance product we were verreh excited!
We all enjoy fishy flavors, so we picked out the Salmon Formula.
We could hardly wait for it to arrive.

We normally get Friskies Pate canned food.
The peeps buy it in ginormous 48-can cases at Sam's Club, eight cases at a time. We eat a lot!
The Friskies has artificial color in it, and it's not as nutritious as the Natural Balance. Mommy says the Natural Balance has more of an odor, but it's a food smell, not gross or stinky or anything.
Here's what's in the Salmon Formula:
Salmon, Whitefish, Fish Broth, Chicken Liver, Chicken, Ground Brown Rice, Carrots, Eggs, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Guar Gum, Taurine, Dried Cranberries, Carrageenan, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Copper Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Niacin Supplement, Sodium Selenite, Thiamine Mononitrate, Calcium Pantothenate, Calcium Iodate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Riboflavin, Vitamin A Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement.
Our opinion is that this can is chock full of wonderfulness!
We did a side by side comparison with our (former) favorite fish flavor.

The results:
Time after time, cat after cat, the Natural Balance won paws down in our highly rigorous scientific taste test.
We recommend it. It is pricier than what we eat now, but Mommy thinks that we can afford the Natural Balance a couple times a week, especially because KonaKitty, who detests wet food, chows this down with gusto.

Now, a word about the Customer Service at Mr Chewy.
It's fantastic!
For example--
Mommy had an issue with her debit card on file and Customer Service called her before our order was scheduled to ship.
With the recent food recall, our Taste of the Wild kibble delivery was delayed, and once again Customer service called to let Mommy know; they even had suggestions for a replacement food.
That's right, an actual phone call from a real live person! Mommy was very impressed.
And we are impressed with our new food...is it supper time yet?

We love Mr. Chewy. It's about time for us to order more food, but it's also time for us to start eating adult food instead of kitten food, so Mom Paula is going to try individual cans first before ordering a case.

ReplyDeleteGreat review! I've ordered from Mr Chewy a couple of times now and I've had really good luck. The natural cat food does stink, but at least it smells like what it is (chicken, in our case).

ReplyDeleteThe only problem I can see with Mr. Chewy is that the Human would not be wandering the aisles of PetSmart making impulse purchases of exciting TOYZ to bring home as a surprise for me.
Course, I guess I could send her there anyway. I dunno know, though--she's awful layzee.

ReplyDeleteWhen Megat first came to live with us, he was furry thin san says. The vet told her to give him better food and she gave him Natural Balance. He ate tin after tin until he came to a good weight and his fur becme very smooth and soft too. Now of cos he eats lingzhi :) None offur us, other than Megat likes it though.

ReplyDeleteWe are furry impressed wif Mr Chewy too! Mommy had us on auto delivery then had to cancel because we just decided to get finicky on her. As soon as we settle on a few flavors, she'll reinstate it. She hopes. We're keeping her wondering MOL!
ReplyDeleteMommy picks up our canned Wellness from Petfood Direct.....it would be tons of green papers to get delivered! She buys the 12.5oz cans which feeds 6 of us...1 can 2xs a day. Setzer has to have a different food.......he was on IV for almost a week due to the 2007 recall. Boomer wanted him on dry then. Mommy got scared with this new recall and Wellness had one item they out sourced to Diamond. She was going to try Blue Buffalo....a Diamond product, so that was out! We love lunchtime, real chicken YUM!!!

ReplyDeleteThis wet food is all I would feed my 6 until they discovered that Fancy Feast crap. BUT, They still love this and I love knowing it's healthy. They refuse to eat it out of the fridge however or even slightly warmed back to room temp in the microwave. Glad yours are slurpin it up!

We had a good experience with Mr Chewy too. That is a good food test...we may have to try that kind and see if the boys will eat it. They can be quite picky!

That is great that the herd likes the natural Balance. We tried some of it and didn't like it. But we didn't try the fishy flavor. We might have to do that. We like Mr.Chewy too. Wish they took Pay Pal. Anyway, glad you kitties like that great food.
ReplyDeleteLove your feeding station! Did you know that some Natural Balance was recalled last week?? I also didn't see that all-impawtant disclaimer that the FTC just made even stricter. You are truly rebels. I'll bet Mr Chewy is trying the old bait-and-switch to get you to buy a more expensive brand of food. How cool, tho, that you found a food you like.

We love Natural Balance foods...Ernie has allergies and eats the limited ingredient food all the time!! And we think Mr. Chewy is great too! We have never had a problem when we order from them.
ReplyDeleteI used to like my Natural Balance dry food...but I had chronic bladder infections...so now I am on my Vet's food which actually...I luvluvluv even more...and no bladder problems. Not sayin Natural Balance 'caused' my problem...don't even think that...
