Kitties!
One of us, He Who Shall Remain Unnamed (HWSRU)...
*kaff*kaffJohnnykaff*
...bit Mommy Wednesday night! It was an accident and Mommy isn't mad at HWSRU or anything. She was grooming HWSRU and said kitty got a little over-enthusiastic away biting the comb and latched on to her hand instead.
Thursday morning her hand looked like this:
See the two fang holes?
Mommy went to the doctor and got antibiotics, and a tetanus shot, and a flu shot, just to round things out. We are sad to report that they did not take her temperature rectally, which we think is totally unfair. Plus, she can take pills all by herself! We were hoping that Daddy would have to wrassle her down and pill her. Now that would be some Good Times to watch.
HWSRU did not have to be quarantined, even though we do not have our shots, (Mommy does not condone shots) which is a relief.
The upshot of HWSRU's antics is that our blogging and commenting are gonna be curtailed until the swelling goes down, because Mommy is a whiner finds typing a wee tad painful. What a wimp.
Happy Friday!

I'm glad your Mom went to the doctor cos TW has a friend who has a friend who had to get her hand amputated because of an infected cat bite. Hope the swelling goes down quickly.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is some bite!
ReplyDeleteThat bites! We hope your Mommy feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh dear - but this is an occupational hazard when wrasslin' and combing and having general bitey fun with exuberant fun loving kitty hulks. Impressive fang marks - oh what a big bite said ajohnnymous kitty has! And we hope he also feels okay - when Tuomo chomped Äiti to the bone. also by accident, he couldn't look at her for ages and had his head hanging in shame.
ReplyDeleteVery good that your Mom got all the jabs and pills, even if she can take them herself and know projectiles were involved. Cat bitey infections can be nasty apparently. And there's also a possibility that some nasty little microbe eats into the brain and makes you mad. Or is that too late already ?
You should get those fingerless bicycling gloves and wear them when brushing that cat.
ReplyDeleteGives some armor against bites and scratches
OWWEEEE! That looks like it hurts. Hope you get better soon. Are you soaking it? T.
ReplyDeleteWowee, what a nip! (Here we are forced to get shots, otherwise we wouldn't.) In any event, my mom is such a wimp that she'd sooner let her arm fall off than get a tetanus shot!
ReplyDeleteIs she wearing a Cone of Shame? Cause, you know, I'd pay good money to see that.
ReplyDeletethat must have been one big boy kitty putting on such bitey! We don't know who?!! ... just saying!
ReplyDeletePee Ess. We think as a precaution the girl kitties should be sent over to us for a day or two or three or... well until those unruly boys learn some manners!
yow-ch! we can't be held accountable for biteys incurred during play or brushing...that's a rule...or at least it should be :) we hope your mommy's hand is better soon. but she should just adopt the one-hand hunt and peck typing method in the mean time ;) purrs,
ReplyDeletePip, Smidgen, Minnie, Hollie
We are very glad Sheebie got antibiotics! You never know with cat bites. Sometimes, no problems. Other times, big infection.
ReplyDeleteRest up!
you sure you weren't taking liberties with the brush? Roman bristles and Russian combs? Maybe a little too much Furminating? beware the tooths!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, some cat is going to get coal in his stocking!
ReplyDeleteI hope your mommy feels better very soon.
Mommies owie. mommies swollen... blah blah blah! What about poor Johnny? Are his fangs ok? Did he prince his mouth out properly so as to remove any homo sapien germs? I mean really! He could have had a serious reaction or choked or at the very least had a profusion of drool. priorities kitties, That's all I'm sayin, priorities.
ReplyDeleteCat bites can be nasty. I am glad you got treatment. Good wishes on your healing.
ReplyDeleteTalk about biting the hands that feed you.....hmmm........ purrr.....meow!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that was one heck of a bite. We hope the swelling goes down soon.
ReplyDeleteOur mama got bitten by a feral a few months ago and got the same tetanus and antibiotics. It took two or three days before she could move her hand.
Purrs,
Cindi Lou & The Kitty Krew
Ouch! Your human did the smart thing by getting it taken care of promptly! Swelling from cat bites does NOT go away on its own! Other humans, take note!
ReplyDeleteSending lots of purrs, and hopes that the wounds from "HWSRU" are not too awfully poisonous.
OMC! She is missing TWO toes! What have you done?
ReplyDeleteUm, were they tasty?
Your poor Mummy, hope her hands get better soon. Your posts are just so funny. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.:)
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I burst out laughing and thinking that, "We are sad to report that they did not take her temperature rectally" would be hysterical in a obit?
ReplyDeleteYes, that's probably a little bit wrong.
Never mind.
Wow,thats look not nice...hope you are quik recover
ReplyDeleteYikes! Yep, we see the fang holes and the swelling! We're glad your mom went to the doctor. Our human still has the scar from when Annie bit her back in the summer 2006 (redirected aggression, long story). The human got her tetanus booster then, just to be safe!
ReplyDeletePurrs for your mom's speedy healing! This could impede her ability to open cans of stinky goodness!
HWSRU - If you are going to do something, do it to the best of your ability! Looks like you showed the mom who is the best around this time. We hope the swelling will go down and the hand will start to feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel guilty at traumitizin' poor Johnny!
ReplyDeleteThe Maple Syrup Mob
xxxxxxxx
hope your mom's hand heals soon. also hope the hwsru isn't a vampire.
ReplyDeleteThere goes another myth...don't bite the hand that feeds you. Purrs to Mom for a quick recovery!
ReplyDeleteOuch! We're glad your mom went to the doctor and we hope she heals quickly. But we sure would like to see your dad wrassle her to get some pills in her! HAHA!
ReplyDeleteThe mom has been bit a number of times by the cat who came before us and has had to go to the doctor for them. So she says she can relate...'specially as to how painful those bites can be!
I've never commented before, but always loved to read your blog. Thought i'd jut drop in a line by my experience and learning as a "human vet". Any animal bite, you need to see a doc coz even more than rabies the danger is from wound infection due to normal flora that reside in the mouth of the biter, thus immediate washing and antibiotics are needed :)
ReplyDeleteHope your mom would get well soon,,,
Espero que sua mamãe se recupere rapidamente. As vezes mordidas e arranhões em brincadeiras podem realmente nos machucar e como dói!
ReplyDeleteOh MY! That is nasty! Take care of yourself Sheebie. Get lots of rest, purrs and cuddles!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww hugs to mum!! Hope all the shots work!!! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Poor Mommy!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies! I was recently bitten too. they are not fun to deal with.
ReplyDeleteHow about shark suit gloves :)
ReplyDeleteAww, poor mommy! That looks like it hurts! Give her lots of love you guys! And espeically you Johnny, though I have no idea why...
ReplyDeleteWe're glad your mommy got all doctored up and will be okay. We're glad your daddy doesn't have to wrassle her down and pill her too!
ReplyDeleteOMC...leave it to you to make us crack up and cry we're laughing so hard over something like this. ; )
ReplyDeleteWe're glad the mom is on the mend.
And I could not agree with you more on the thermometer thing. They could just distract her with chocolate or something and she'd never know. heh heh.
By the way, I still see one good hand. So tell her to quit her whining. (JK)
xo,
Katie
Ouch! She's not a wimp- cat bites are very painful.
ReplyDeleteHope you can still open cat food cans...
Maggie
Glad Mommy went to the doctor and had some shots. We don't get shots around here either. Hope the hand heals up really soon. Won't hurt her to have a oouple of days off.
ReplyDeleteI twould be fitting if we got to pill our humans from time to time. Such a lovely image!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice comments about our brofur Junior. We are missing him, but we will see him again.
Oh poor Mom is right! Those things do happen though,
ReplyDeletewe hope she gets better soon!
(we would like to see our Mom wrasseld to pill also-MOL)
Owieee !!
ReplyDeleteYou babys be sure and give Mama lots of loves and pets to help her feel better soon !!
xoxo
Our mom feels your pain. She got it on the arm breaking up a catfight between Scout & Patches last month.
ReplyDeleteBy sheer coincidence she was having her yearly check up the very next day.
Oh, we are SO glad your mom got treatment right away! And you are right, no fair that she didn't get a rectal temperature.
ReplyDeleteOuch! That looks painful. We are glad your mum got her antibiotics, but we think you should complain that she didn't get the thermometer stuck where the sun don't shine. If we go to the evil vet, that is the first thing they do to us, so why should she be different?
ReplyDeleteOuch! We're glad your mom got treatment right away. Even healthy kitties like HWSRU can do some dangerous biting. It seems like the hands always get the bites, too, don't they?
ReplyDeleteWe hope your mom is on the mend soon. In the meantime, hey, she's convalescing. Your dad is going to make you all a fancy Christmas dinner, right?
We send healing purrs. That looks painful! Johnny didn't mean to do it. Too much excitement with the solstice and all?
ReplyDeletePurrs your mum's had feels better soonest. We would like to see pictures of your mum getting pilled. HAHAHAHAHA.
ReplyDeleteWe know he didn't mean to bite. Seems like your Mommy got enough shots for everybody.
ReplyDeleteOuch, poor Mommy :) Wez pleased she went to see the Doc, did he look like Doctor House ?? :) xx00xx
ReplyDeleteMollie and Alfie
Oh no! Sending your mommy all of our purrs for healing! And we know HWSRU didn't mean to do this, and we're VERY relieved that there was no quarantine involved! When we went to the vet this year they tried to scare us into getting shots that we didn't find necessary since we live indoors 24/7, and we swears the vet was trying to make Teddy bite him just to prove a point! Now comes the search for a new vet that cares about us kitties more than our pawents money.
ReplyDeletePoor mom - hope she feels better soon. We sumtimes accidentally bites our mom too but so far she hasn't swelled up like that, MOL
ReplyDeleteSasha, Sami, & Saku
Our mom got bitten a few years ago and she had to stay in the hospital for 2 DAYS. WE did not bite our mom, she was cat-sitting for a friend. The doctor said cat bites are the worst.
ReplyDeleteWe hope your mom gets better soon.
