Kitties!
Sweet Pea here.
Monday night the Catio was invaded by a stupendously collossal insect. It was EPICALLY HUGE. Naturally, I was the ferocious kitty who snagged it--I wait all year for these guys to appear--MOTHZILLA! (flutterius ginormica)
::aaaaaaauuuuuuggghhhhh:: |
After I got him firmly betwixt my slavering jaws delicate teefs I sallied into the house to torment play with my pet victim in a leisurely way, (Mommy, why are you using so many strike outs?) where Mommy twigged onto what was going on and grabbed the camera.
Anyway...Rupert was all up in my stuff wanting to share when I didn't, so I had to hold Mothzilla in my mouth and moan at the same time; not an easy feat considering the size of my prize. Rupert was a tiny bit relentless, so eventually I spat out Mothzilla and we amused ourselves with him together...at first.
All of a sudden, Mothzilla made a break for freedom weakly fluttered across the floor!
Rupert was on Mothzilla like a shot.
He didn't keep him for long, though--because Scouty was lurking, and when Rupert let Mothzilla go for some further fun and games Scout faultlessly executed the classic "Sprint, Scoop-n-Swallow" maneuver, racing from the dining room to the back cat flap.
Alas, no images of this rare event exist.
There's always tonight, though!
Those Mothzillae are all over the yard. It's only a matter of time.
Happy Thursday!

Pee Ess: The birdy on our blog yesterday is a male Yellow-Headed Blackbird! Mommy is a moron and forgot to type it.

Fantastic action and a great shot of Rupert with his mothstache. We would like to know how they taste - they look quite dry to us so maybe nice and crunchy.
ReplyDeleteScouty, didn't that stick in the back of your throat? They look a bit dry to us, too.
ReplyDeleteDo you guys ever hauck them back up? That would be really disgusting.
ReplyDeleteYum! A fluffy, delectable moth! I love those, especially the big ones! Scouty sure lucked out.
ReplyDeleteYou let Scouty get away with the prize? Better luck tomorrow, kitties :)
ReplyDeleteUh, haven't tasted that yet. Is it good nom?
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWe like the delicate way Rupert is holding Mothzilla.
Ask Scouty if it tasted yummy?

Cindi Lou & The Kitty Krew
Oh, Gracie would LOVE to interact with Mothzillae. srsly.
ReplyDeleteDo you make little coughy chokey sounds when you eat moths? They're so dry, Leo always makes a little noise, but he loves to chase them! Scouty sure knew how to end your fun, didn't he? But wow, so fast there's no evidence! That's amazing!
ReplyDeleteWe have not been so lucky here. We get tiny ones. You guys sure get all the luck.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Mommy would have to hide if there's a Mothzilla fest here. No, she isn't afraid of them but she is highly allergic to the powdery stuff on their wings. MOL.
ReplyDeleteBlimey! Even your moths are bigger!! Awesome moth-in-gob shots ! :)
ReplyDeleteOhmyCAT, you are such a fabulous hunter!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
Luna - WE LOVE LUNA
Oh, look at that moth! OMC, Derry would be in heaven. And he wouldn't share, wouldn't let it go. Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteAll we had was a tiny moth outside this morning, not even enough for a snack.
Oh, please tell your dad that the tote bag our human ordered arrived yesterday. Pretty good travel time to Ontario, actually, about a week and a half. :-)
She loves the bag and wants to know if your dad will be making any that are larger as well.
If you get any spare moths we wondered if you could send us one please. Mum spoils our fun with them as she likes to catch then a throw them out the window which is such a waste of noms.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Now we are all dreaming of moths with fly chasers...the perfect spring snack.

epically impressive.
ReplyDeleteOMC! Mothzilla didn't stand a chance. Neither will any of his relatives.
ReplyDeleteWow, that moth never had a chance in the catio.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun!!! Now I feel like hunting down some moths....
ReplyDelete-- Nermal

ReplyDeleteOh dear cod... I'm pretty sure that's the moth I illustrated for Katie of the Sonoran Desert!!!
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky cats. We have the horrible Stinkbugs here where we live. Yes the occasional Mothzilla but those stinkers are not good for eatin!
ReplyDeleteThat is some mighty good looking prey. A nice big one. No wonder everyone was interested. Hope you all get another one. We would love a moth like that. Take care.
ReplyDelete::sigh:: I wish I was there hunting Mothzilla with you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for identifying the birdie. You all sure had a great time with mothzilla. Scouty is certainly an opportunist. Rupert really, really looks like our Fiona. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette.
ReplyDeleteKitty hunter of the year award goes to the one who caught the mothzilla......

That's usually when we yell thru the house "Don't kiss the cat on the lips!"
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to have a moth-free home but I've always wondered whether there is any nutritional benefits to eating them.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can box some up and send 'em our way.
ReplyDeleteYuck! Banjo likes eating moths too. Ptoooie!
