Friends and Kitties!
Sheebie here.
I've been wrestling with my word--Content--this week. I don't know if it's the full moon or what, but my mood lately has been the antithesis of contentment, complete with terrible sweaty dreams for the past three nights.
Unsettling.
Perhaps it's just post-vacation letdown, maybe it's the fact I'm tapering off the prozac. In any case, I'm not feeling very prolix today. Hence, just a couple of phone photos taken at work last week:
Since our winter was nonexistent so mild, and we had two lovely drenching rains in December the desert wildflowers are starting to bloom like gangbusters. I'm not sure what these particular plants are called, but they're showing their cheerful yellow faces everywhere and they are the first flowers blooming each year. In a week or two the whole desert will be yellow!
I saw Spring's first customers too; see Miss Bee? (Sorry about the blurriness, it was windy!) She and her sisters were too busy gathering nectar and pollen to pay any attention to me, barging around the flowers. There must be quite a hive somewhere near the property because we always have plenty of bees around. I like to watch them, totally absorbed in their work. It must be nice, to have one purpose and be wonderfully crafted to do it so well.
Something I'll bear in mind this week.
Happy Sunday!
xx Sheebie XX
I think the act of wishing for contentment would totally fit the theme..
ReplyDeleteI love the desert after a rain.
ReplyDeleteYou need a goat to hug.
So pretty these yellow flowers. My sister who works in Kabul buys wild flowers online and plant them where she is. It makes the dreary landscape bearable and everyone feels cheerful when the wild flowers bloom.
ReplyDeleteour human says she is experiencing her season of discontent as well.

I'm no doctor, but I did study anti-depressants some while working on my MSW. If you're having trouble getting off the Prozac, maybe ask your doctor if you can titrate off it more slowly. It can be difficult to get off of anti-depressants, especially if you're coming off of them too quickly. Hang in there, ok?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! :)
Mommy calls this time of year the "blahs" because that is how she feels. This year has been very bad since Prancer went to the Bridge. She thinks signs of spring really help. Thank you for sharing your flowers and hang in there!
ReplyDelete((Hugs))
I wonder if your yellow flowers are some kind of a buttercup? We had them when I was growing up in the high desert of East. Washington but they were very tiny - maybe only a 3 or 4 inch stem at best, and they were the harbinger of Spring. Over here on the west side they are tall and scraggly and very much a weed - but the blossoms look kind of like yours.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that you have bees. I worry so much about our bee population!
Maybe Elliott, our ram, is feeling the same problems that you are, except he is expressing it by tearing his barn apart. The Shepherd is fit to be tied. If it's not raining too hard tomorrow, maybe I'll traipse out and take some pictures of the carnage.
You take care, and when the darkness threatens to overtake you, remember that yellow from the flowers and let it push the darkness away. We love you and wish you were closer - I'd bring you a piece of pumpkin cake - it has lots of vitamins and fiber to make you feel better :-) XOX T.
If bad dreams are getting at you, take three more cats to bed to snuggle, make them chase the bad dreams away. Hugs and purrs and hopes for better sleep and more contentment!
ReplyDeleteI rarely remember my dreams and thankfully, the ones I do rememeber are mostly just wierd... not terible OR sweaty.
ReplyDeleteThe Magnolias are blooming here and the wicked blanket of green pollen has begun to cover everything. Despite the freezing evidence to the contrary, Spring IS coming!
Have a purrfectly marvelous day!
This time of year seems hard for everyone, no matter whether they are snowbound or not. Hang in there, Sheebie, and hug a kitty since we can't hug you!
ReplyDeletePee Ess... You wouldn't want to hug Newton anyhow. He has no manners with that kind of thing. -Pierre
ReplyDeleteWell, you made me feel content...bees and flowers...exactly what I'm craving right now in my white world.
ReplyDeleteJane x
We would be quite content is Spring would show up!
ReplyDeleteI love those pretty cheerful wildflowers. Spring truly is coming. I hope you'll feel better soon. It seems many are struggling right now.
ReplyDeletep.s. I hope Sweet Pea is doing better!
Bad dreams suck. Hope that passes soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE THE BEE!! Especially the crapload of snow we got on Friday. Next month, my own bees will be out looking for dandelions. I hope.
I hope spring is on the way but I remain skeptical...
ReplyDeleteWe send purrs and hope the discontent eases off and as quickly as possible. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteBeautiful signs of Spring.
Such pretty flowers. Bet it will be great when they are all over the place. Take good care.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a Mojave sun cup.
ReplyDeleteHave you monitored the barometric pressures in relation to mood change.
I hope you get your content back. I hate those uneasy dreams.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish for color in my life. I'll see it soon, if only temporarily. This winter, unfortunately has been neither non-existent nor mild. Huh, content would not be a word for me.
Have a great week!
Thanks for sharing those yellow flowers with us. Given that everything around here is still covered in white, seeing flowers is so welcomed!
ReplyDeleteI hope your dreams get better...and you find your contentment again.
Sue
Yay for the lovely spring blooms...we are counting down the days until spring..NC has had a rough winter for us anyway. We had two snows in 24 hours over 6". We rarely get 6" every 2 years.
ReplyDeleteHugs madi your bfff
The flowers are lovely and so spring like. I can so relate to how you feel and its not a good feeling. Don't come off the Prozac too quickly though please. Hope you are feeling more like yourself soon. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteHope the lovely bright flowers made you feel a bit better. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteThose were beautiful pics. We're sorry to hear this isn't one of your better moments.

Hope things start looking brighter--I think *I* am finally turning the corner, or the Human thinks so anyway. But she's so batsh!t crazy this week I wouldn't trust a word she says. Srsly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving me such sweet messages during my recent troubles!
we love the bees too. enjoy the sea of yellow!
ReplyDeleteHang in there. We totally understand - going through something similar. Purring that you will begin to feel better soon. And how lovely to see yellow - instead of WHITE. (And muddy white as it melts, MOL!)
