EXCITEMENT.

Kitties!

We had some excitement here at the Lounge which we were NOT ALLOWED to witness!

Mommy was whaling relaxing on the sofa when Daddy burst into the kitchen from the garage..there was a HUMMINGBIRD in there and couldn't find his way out, even though the big garage door was open.  Naturally we knew he wanted to come indoors to "amuse" us but the peeps, dense as they are, were determined to shoo him back out into the Great Outdoors.

What morons.

What ensued was ten minutes of inept hummer-hunting by two panicked peeps...involving brooms, mops, raising and lowering the garage door, and much frantic shouting.  Eventually Daddy was able to trap the Hummer inside a big square plastic container butted up against the ceiling--and standing on his tippy toes he had to wait an eternity until Mommy got a ladder, set it up, and slid on the lid--but not before the hummer escaped and they had to repeat the maneuver all over again!

And then they set him free.  OUTSIDE.  After all that work.

Revenge will be had...

Happy Friday!

  5. The Shepherd uses his pond net, which is on a long pole, to catch wayward burdies who end up in the house by mistake. He is still in the hospital, BTW. :-( T.

  6. Seriously, they should have consulted you guys as expert hunters, then they would have gotten it much easier and faster! (Though I am glad they got him back outside where he can entertain everyone with his beautiful flitting!)

  10. Absolutely, traitors! Although, as many as you are, probably wouldn't be much to share about all of you.

  11. Well, he might have been a fun toy, but really, there's no meat on those tiny things. You should hold out for a dove or something.

  12. After all, they are pretty tiny. The outcome wouldn't have been worth the effort for you kittehs. Wait for something bigger...a roadrunner perhaps? Or a crow? Now THAT is a big burd!

  13. Oh but the video of the humans would have been amazingly amusing right??

  14. All that effort for nuffing? Man you should retrain your peeps.

  15. We find the fact that they let the hummer go appalling but our mommy is giggling at the scent your peeps must have created!

  16. We can only imagine the scenes that transpired, but the thought of elebenty cats after a hummingbird sounds entertaining, too :)

  19. This is for your peeps: sorry kittehs ! Several years ago a hummy got in the neighbors garage and we could not get ot out either - until it dawned on me that hummies are attracted to red & orange, so I scooped up a basket of nasturtiums and hung it on the outside door handle. Once the hummer zeroed in on it, he got himself oriented and flew away. So you might want to keep a basket of nasturtiums (or some other red or orange flower - the neighbrs happened to have 'sturtiums) handy !

  20. Barely a snack, those little birds! Not worth much effort for a cat, I'm thinking.

  24. The Crew totally agree with you. I've shoo'd two birds out of my garage over the years, and they were certain the bird came to offer itself to them.
