ManCat Monday with Mommy

Kitties!

Tiny Johnson here, and I have a fun story to tell.

The other night, Mommy was almost asleep.  Me and CC and Konakitty and Grayce and Rupert were all in bed with her, and I had shotgun by her pillow.  The bed was full of purring happy sleepy kitties, and one pinned-in Mommy, who was getting hot.  And thirsty.

A Re-enactment.

Mommy decided she needed a sip of water, so she slithered up and out the middle of the bed and toddled towards the kitchen.

Suddenly, the peaceful night was rent by terrible growls and howls!

The toddling sped up and a light went on--and Mommy saw Sylvester, with a bottlebrush tail and the rest of him poufed out to twice his size.  Truly, she never imagined he could make his tail that HUGE.  Apparently Henry (our Outdoor Boy) was staring in through the front windows and Sylvester took exception to this.

Mommy soothed Mister Angry Tux and coaxed him into his fleecy box bed on the coffee table, turned off the light, and finally got that drink of water.  Quenched, she came back to bed, and patted all around on the covers to make sure she didn't squish anycat when she reinserted herself back into her designated six-inch wide slot.
The Angry Party
Which had been pre-empted by ME!  I was in the warm spot with my head on the pillow.
ha ha ha ha!

Another re-enactment.
Well.  Mommy was undeterred, she got into bed and pulled the covers over me!  She snuggled me into her chest and told me that I was so nice to cuddle; that I hadn't done this since I was a wee kitten tot.

Me and Mommy in her fancy jammies.
Kitties, I caved.  I purred like a freight train and we fell asleep.

Mommy - 1
Me - 1

I say we both won that round.

Happy Monday!

Still Feral Friday

Kitties!

Henry here.
I thought perhaps you all would like to see me today, so I came in for my foods early one evening and The Man took pictures.
I don't let The Man or The Woman get too close to me, although I do sit on the wall and watch them, and I know their voices.
Mommy:  Henry will eat out of my hand if I put it underneath the Catio wall.  He obviously feels safer with the wire between us.
I have some pretty swank digs--check out the stencil on my Hut--recently this cozy brown blanket appeared which is mysteriously warm all the time.
Mommy:  The magical heating pad!
A feral Mancat can't let himself get too soft though.  I need to do some patrolling.  After I finish off my nightly bowl of Stinky Goodness, that is.
Time to check out the mouthy palm tree denizens.
Those cheeky Hummers torment me, and the Mockerburds are just as bad!
You have NEVER heard such fowl language.
I have to talk back.
*eck, eck, chitter chitter ang ang*
I patrol the front yard too.
Yes?  May I help you?
Can't talk any longer; I've got Catly Business to attend to!

Mommy:  Now that the days are shorter Henry comes in to eat about 4:30 or so.  Our vet is open late two days a week, so the plan is to trap Henry soon and get him in to be neutered.  He isn't totally wild, but he's definitely Not Tame.  And we simply cannot have any more Cats in the house, so we're not pushing the issue.  Henry appears to be quite happy outside, and smart enough to stay out of trouble.  There's not a lot of traffic on our corner, either.  So we hope that he won't be offended by getting fixed and stick around--he keeps the pack rats and mice under control, as well as being a handsome addition to our yard.  Not that I wouldn't love to pet him...

Happy Friday!

Henry's New Hut!

::cruncha cruncha munch munch munch::
*burp*
Oh hi there Kitties!
The Baby here.
(Oh for Cod's sake I wonder how long they've been watching me...)
Daddy made a new Hut for our Homeless Kitty Boy, Henry.  I like to check out the food quality...you know, to make sure it's all nutritious and stuff.
It's excellent!
Henry has no complaints, I'm sure.
hmmmm, although it does smell like he was a little...um..."peev'd" at something.

The new Blue Anniversary Bench went where Henry's old Hut was...and the Pie Safe merely collected junk so Daddy decided to kill two birds with one stone (such an delicious saying) and converted it!
Mommy was worried that Henry wouldn't find his new digs and wanted to put his wet food out beside it, but Daddy poo-pooed (ANOTHER great expression!) her idea and of course Henry found his supper, and cleaned his bowl!  They don't call canned food Stinky Goodness for nothing.
This is what the new Hut looks like inside.
The spot to the left of the kibble is for Henry's wet food bowl, and in the right corner (where you can't see) is a pile of nip and valerian root for an after-supper treat.  Daddy carpeted the floor, and he's going to insulate the punched tin doors and hang a fabric flap over the entrance hole to keep out drafts.
(Or draughts, for our King's English friends)

Henry never slept in the old Hut so this one doesn't have a bed in it.  Mommy and Daddy would love to know where he sleeps.  Of course WE know, but we're not telling.
hee hee!  It's our little secret.

Happy Thursday!

Friends on Friday!

:tap tap::

Is this thing on?

I think so...

Hi Kitties!

Henry here.
The Lady who lives here left her Magic Innernets Box out here on the Patio, so I decided to reveal some of my secrets to you.
I know all about you kitties and the blogsophere and other stuff from the Kats who live inside the Catio, and they told me all y'all were curious about me.  Which is only natural, being that you're CATS.

Anyway, I have a pretty nice gig going on here at my Restaurant Stop.  The People put a nice big serving (two cans!) of wet food out every evening, and there's always kibble to eat along with fresh water in my Hut.
I come in at dusk to eat and socialize, and sometimes I swing by in the morning to say hello.
The Man who lives here is very intriguing.  I've sniffed his hand a few times and one of these days I'll let him pet me.  He's pretty cool, unlike the Lady who talks to me in this ear-splitting screechy high voice.  I might let her get near me if she promises to keep her pie hole closed.

Since my Restaurant Spot is part of my Territory, I need to make sure it smells like me.
This area is a little deficient...

...yup, the overly-zealous People have once again (!!!) hosed my Manly Pee Odor off the screen.
*sigh*

A ManCat's work is never done.
::tssst!  tssst!  tssst!::

There.
All is right with the world now, everycat will know that this Catio is Mine.
At least on the Outside.
*dusts off paws*

OK, time for me to go take a nap.
I don't sleep in the Hut that the People built for a couple of reasons; first off because I'm a Cat and you know how we feel about beds WE don't pick out, and secondly I have a Sleeping Spot I already feel really safe in.  Where is it?  I can't tell you--it wouldn't be safe then!
I like to hop up on the wall from the new launching area the Man built.

The walls in the neighborhood are my purrsonal highways!
The Lady says that soon I'm going to go someplace to get "fixed".  I've got news for her; I'm not broken!  Look at how healthy I am and what big CatNuts I have.
Fixed!  As if.

And I have no plans to go anywhere...
...except up onto this flyover wall.

Another good ManSquirt onto the palm fronds.
My work here is done.

See y'all later!
I'll be back for dinner tonight.
Can I have the Salmon Dinner?  I like that flavor best.

Happy Friday Kitties!

ManCat Monday with Henry!

Kitties!

Miss Sweet Pea here, to tell you all about Henry!
He's not talking yet to Mommy or Daddy, so it's up to me to tell you all the latest poop.

Daddy put bird seed out last week to fill their tummies and keep us amused with Bird-O-Vision.  Naturally, Henry likes to watch birds, too.  Birds come and visit during the day, so Henry has been in as well.
He's for sure a Tom...and we're almost sure he's homeless.  He may be domesticated, but right now he's still skittish and keeps his distance.  But he's interested!

Henry and Johnny visiting.

Talking to the Birdies!

Five ManCats in one frame.

Henry's first close up!

Walking the North wall to the neighbor's yard.

Hopping down.

Meandering off to nap.

Our back yard neighbor is NEVER home (we watch her house)...Daddy is gonna go explore and see if he can find Henry's den.

Happy Monday!

Maui's Busy Monday...AND a Special Guest!

Kitties!

Maui here.

One of my many jobs here at The Lounge is Quality Control Inspector, Kitchen Area.

I have to lick the sandwich bread wrapper,

Sniff the artisan bread,
and test it for freshness.

Mommy bought this bread on sale...I think she'd better get it into the refrigerator!

hmmmm, are these tissues up to par?

YUP!

OK, everything is copacetic in the kitchen.

Now I would like to introduce our Special Guest,

Henry!

Henry is getting a little braver, he sat up on the wall by the jasmine vine and watched Daddy on the Catio for a bit, and he's looked in the windows by the front door.

Daddy is pretty sure he's seen a couple of ping-pongs under Henry's tail, so he'll be getting a trip to the vet one of these days...the Havaheart trap will strike and voila!, no more kitten-making for Henry.

We don't know if he's truly feral or not...so we don't have any answers as to what's gonna happen after his snip.  We shall have to wait and see.

Happy Monday!

Paying it Forward on Thanksgiving

Kitties!

We have something to show you...
There's a power cord on our Catio.

It leads Outside to the side of the house...
...and into here!

Kitties, this is Henry's Hut.
Henry is a handsome grey and white Tuxedo kitty, who doesn't have a home.  He showed up a couple of months ago, and we have been feeding him every day.  Tonight it's going to get really cold here in the desert, down to 29 F (0 C), which is why we're super glad Daddy built Henry a Hut.
Henry is pretty shy, which is why we don't have a picture of him...yet.  (Daddy's working on that!)
But he comes in each evening and cleans his dish, two whole cans of Friskies!  He likes the salmon flavor a LOT.
Today, he showed up in the early afternoon and Mommy went out in the yard and talked to him a little bit.  He scampered off when she got too close and trotted across the street between two houses.

The Hut has pretty decent amenities:  water, food, (see, Henry's already been in to eat!) and best of all, a HEATED fleece bed!  That's what the power cord is for.
Kitties, it feels really good to know Henry has a meal and a safe place to sleep.

Today we're giving Thanks that we can help; after all, we all were homeless once, too.

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving, and for our non-American pals...have a Happy Thursday!

Love, The Lounge Kats
