Since the HOTS started, all of us here at The Lounge have been shedding like banshees* according to Mommy, and she's been a Woman Possessed, pinning us down with her grabby hands and brandishing The Evil Implements of Fur Removal.

With, of course, the exception of me.  Because, No Touching.

So every year I construct a little Catlick (cat + cowlick) on my back from the extra fur.

It drives Mommy batcrap crazy--she's dying to snip it off.

(For your information, batcrap crazy is worse than crazypants!)

Naturally this will NEVER EVER happen.  I mean, really, I don't generally even let her get close enough to get decent pictures...like today.

I'll remove the latest catlick in my own good time--the longer I sport it the batcrappier Mommy gets--and that's a good thing, right?

Mommy had help with her tasks today.

She did some baking, and I, Maui, supervised in the pantry. 

And I, The Baby, purrformed dryer inspection.  I have never checked out the inside of the dryer before.  Luckily Mommy had her phone handy!

Mommy shooed complimented us many many many times for all our assistance...it's nice to be appreciated, don't you think?

A New Creature

A Mojave Desert Scorpion!

Mommy is working on expanding faith in her body.  She is so chuffed with this pose; she has major willies about a) balancing on her arms, and b) back bends, so this is a big move forward for her practice.  She says it is amazing how achieving something unexpected physically also breaks down mental barriers.

We're gonna be off line until July 1--Mommy is traveling back to her home town in Illinois for the first time in sixteen years.  Daddy will spoil us rotten so don't worry about us!  

If you are so inclined, you can follow Mommy's exploits on Facebook...no telling what sort of crazypants mischief she'll get up to without us snoopervising her.

Our Mommy the Vet?

We had forgotten all about the fact Daddy took some picture of our humiliation exams when Rupert and I were about to be tortured dropped off for our dental cleanings last month.  

But here they are--better late than never, right?

The vet listened to our hearts...

...and she invited Mommy to listen to mine!

I have a very mild heart murmur, just a little squeak every so often.  Dr. Auggie heard it and thought Mommy would be interested in hearing what it sounded like--she was--but naturally as soon as she put the stethoscope on I intentionally stopped the squeak, so all Mommy got to hear was my normal ba-BUP ba-BUP ba-BUP.

Kitties, opportunities like this to thwart your peeps' desires can make a vet visit worthwhile!

Well, almost.
As long as the thermometer stays in the drawer...

Chilly Chats

This was the scene on my bed last Thursday evening when I wanted to go to bed.  

It was chilly outside so the evening sleep fest had moved indoors.

I obediently went back out to the living room and sat on the sofa and read until I couldn't keep my eyes open--how could I disturb all those handsome snoozy mancats?  Scouty gives me a Reproachful Look and goes skittering out the cat flap the second I approach the bed (which scatters the rest of the gang) and since there are no other suitable places for cats in the entire house to sleep, retreat was my only option.

And then I had a brainwave: Scouty likes CATIO CHIPS! even more than the bed and his Tiny Johnson.  I rattled the cover of the jerky container and soon enough his little Ornj face was peeking around the corner to check if there were any delectable morsels on his the plate.  Chips consumed and crisis averted.

I was able to contort myself around the remaining bed whales felines and settle in for the night, and I'm almost positive I felt the little chip-eater slink onto the bed later and snuggle my leg.  He'd deny it...but it's true!

Merchandising Monday

This an embarrassing (for her) photo of Mommy.

She's washing out some tie dye, wearing an old shirt of Daddy's, flip flops, and her groovy beanie.  Mommy is such a snappy dresser.

She did make some cool stuff though! 

A tie-dyed length of fabric.  This is t-shirt material, and she's gonna sew pillow cases with it.  Daddy can't wait--they will be for him.  

Perfecting peace signs.  This is a tea towel--and to be honest Daddy tied this one.  He made a bunch of them in all different colors.

Can you tell where this is going?

Yup.

Tie-dyed PET SHIRTS.

As if fur wasn't enough... 

...and in large enough sizes to fit everybody!

Apparently Cats in Shirts are funny (!!!) and Daddy was shaking too hard with laughter to get crisp photos.

But you get the idea.

Daddy had to chase Sylvester and Kona around to get them off after a couple of hours--seems like Felix* isn't the only kitty in the house who enjoys wearing clothes.

Mommy garbage picked, found on the side of the road, specially selected a log for us to investigate.

She had some high falutin' hopes that we would feel...um...enriched playing on it.

Nope.

I decided to give the log a sniff and Mommy got all excited, thinking that the fun was starting.

Again, nope.

The only reason there's a photo of me on the log is because I was PLACED on it--Daddy is on my Hiss List--and then I refused to look at Mommy.

My Fur Kids

On World Cat Day 2015 I'd like to list a few things--in no PURRticular order--I'd never have had (and am very grateful for) if it wasn't for The Cats.

Fur, everywhere.  Whenever I pick a cat hair off of my clothes (or my food) I always smile and think of them.

Cuddles, especially the ones involving an anus in my face.  Special Times.  

The Joy of Servitude, and dishing out 20 cans of cat food daily.

and

Scooping the sequelae of those 20 cans.

Humility in the face of Superior Beings, making me a better person.

Petting requests at 3 AM, just because.

Yak.  And the intriguing guesswork of from whom it was emitted.

Lots and lots and LOTS of help.

The wonderful friendship and camaraderie of all the fellow bloggers I've met over the past five years! 

Cats are Wonderful.
