Birdy In Da HOWSE!

Kitties!

Rupert here, with thrilling news to report.
There's a pigeon in the Prisoner Transport Unit!  (PTU)
As you know, Daddy feeds the birds and there's a birdbath in the front yard.  Daddy knows all the "regulars" and today he noticed that one of the smaller pigeons was getting picked on by the other bigger ones.

He seemed weak and lethargic, too.
So Daddy shouted for Mommy, and they ran around the front courtyard like lunatics for ten minutes, coralling  him.  It was very entertaining.

Finally Daddy captured him--with his bare hands!  We were all impressed, seeing how he doesn't have claws or any other fine weaponry like us.
Daddy gave him some food and water while Mommy made a phone call to a friend of theirs, Chrystal, who does bird rescue.  Crystal said she'd be over shortly, and to keep Mister Pigeon cool, which meant he was escorted INSIDE.

Salem:  What the hell?

It's dinner, delivered!

I've never wanted to get into a PTU so badly in my life.
Rupert:  No kidding.  Pretty ironic, huh?

Chrystal came and retrieved our dinner Mister Pigeon.  She said he looked okay, and she had the perfect spot for him in her aviary with two other birds to keep him company.  She will call Mommy tomorrow with a report--and of course we'll let you know how he's faring.

Now, I need a nap.  Too much excitement.

Happy Tuesday!

  2. This may be the answer to all the PTU problems! Why didn't I think of that! Bugs would probably work too, and are less messy.

  3. Oh what an exciting day! Glad the pigeon is fine. :)

  4. We think your Mom should have let him loose in the house...bet you guys would have "helped" catch him again, MOL!

  5. Wow, take out dinner delivered and you can't even eat it? Whats the fun of that? Oh how I'd love to eat the birdie. I love birdies. ::twitch::

Can you give me the address of the lady with the aviary??????? ::twitch::

  6. oh my, your humans let dinner get away?! crazy!! Sure sounds like excitement!

  7. It is time to convert the PTU to DTU (dinner trapping unit) :-)

  8. Let me get this straight. Your PTU, dinner in said PTU, just waiting fur your bellah, and Mom just let sumbody take it AWAY??? Just exactly WHO is in control at your house, anyway?

  9. Pisi and Squeak took a good look at that bird, and they both agree they wouldn't try to eat it. Probably a bit too tough. So you're best off with the situation as is. And our human is very very happy that the bird will be in a safe place! Bravo for helping out a feathered friend!

  10. boys boys, that is very exciting indeed. we'd be wagging our tails and jumping off the couch over and over again should a bigger bird come over.

  11. It's ironic, really, that your Humans went to such lengths to protect that unlucky bird, only to induce a pigeon heart-attack from proximity to two furred beasts, large of toof and claw.

    RIP, my feathered friend!

  12. This could have been such an opportunity..........
We hope you will get revenge on your bird loving humans for this.

  15. What an exciting life you kitties live! It was a little surprising that all 13 were not lined up for a peek and a sniff - maybe they couldn't stand the excitement! We're glad Little Pigeon will have a new and safe home, thanks to two lovely and kindhearted Beans.

  16. Awwwwww thank you thank you thank you for rescuing this poor pigeon!! I tried to rescue one once - it was being picked on mercilessly by other pigeons - but it died as I was running to the vets with said pigeon in the box! Awwww! They're lovely!!! Yay! Take care

  18. We had a lorikeet in our bathroom once. We've never been more obsessed in our whole lives. It was a bit cheeky of Chrystal to leave with your dinner. Couldn't she have shared?

(but we also hope Mr. Pigeon is back to full strength soonest).

  19. Hooray for the birdie rescue ~ and hooray for little pigeon not becoming your chicken dinner... errr... pigeon dinner.

  20. Oh. My. Cod.

    We don't believe it.

Our kitty jaws are on the floor! A real live pigeon in the house. We just bet it's the first and only time you've ever wanted into the PTU. LOL.

BTW, we think it's lucky the bird didn't keel over in fright, with all of you licking your kitty chops right in front of him/her.

  21. Great rescue. He would have eventually become dinner to some cat if he was that lethargic. Trish..I received the tea-pot and cups today. Thank you so much for this. You are over the top thoughtful. I will do a post on them soon. Love them. Thanks again. Hugs, Deb

  28. Our Mom helps out (typing..this is one of the reasons our visiting has been so limited!) at AWARE here in the Atlanta area. She said they get a good many pigeons. Maybe they leave the nest a little bit too soon?
We are so glad your Mom and Daddy saved it! Looking forward to good update!

  34. OMC, my mom rescued a bird once TOO! She found a little girl finchie near her work place and brought her home to rest. The finchie stayed in our utility room. The only thing she would eat was just a little of my old sis's liquid cat vitamins! Poor finchie, though, she flew over the bridge within a few days. My mom put her little body back under a giant pine tree close to where she was found.

So we, too, didn't get a snack.

I hope Mr. Pigeon does well at the rescue!

  36. All I can think is that they are fattening him up for your dinners. Any other reason would be in strict violation of CatCode IV, sub section A, paragraph .2 wherein it clearly states:

...pursuant to the PTU being used for any other purposes, specifically the housing, transport and/or temporary living quarters for any species other than Catkind, all said inhabitants become property of the CAT for their personal use as they deem fit...

    That is all

  41. oh your posts make me giggle..you are so funny and so are those kittehs;) give them all a love for me..my little sister used to raise pigeons and there was a baby and the adults were picking or pecking on its wee little head..I mean it was caved in from all the pecking..so my sister took him inside and nursed him back to health..he had a divet where they pecked so much..but he was okay..poor thing...

  42. Salem and Rupert you were well behaved with the birdie in the PTU ifin you wanted the unit could have been knocked on the floor. Your pawents are very cool to rescue him even though there was no home delivered birdie meal.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Your parents are so kind, Rupert and Salem! I know maybe you thought they just got some takeout food for you, but really they just saved a life.

Nature can be cruel. Luckily some humans, like yours and the Chrystal lady, are not.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thats great that you rescued the pigeon. Love the way the kitties are looking at him with the mouths watering the whole time.
Thanks for dropping by. So good to hear from you.

  45. The sound you hear is our four boys salivating! Keep us posted.

  46. Oh my gosh, can you imagine what was going through the birds mind... First, getting picked on, then chased and stuffed in a box only to be drooled at by ferocious beasts, then driven away in a metal beast... What a story he's got for his new friends! Wow!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dudes, your very own bird! I think Miss Chrystal should bring him back so you kitties can babysit!

  50. Do you know what we're thinking? It must have been our Friday Flashback pigeon and it's taken him 2 years to fly to you. No wonder he was knackered!

  51. OMC your house is like a 3 ring circus!! OMC! So much excitement!!

    "Dinner delivered!!" MOL!!

Loved the photos of all of the kitties eagerly gathered around the PTU!!!!! How ironic!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Holy carp! We can't believe your humans tortured you like that...bringing in that feather and not letting you "play" with him.

Mom says she hopes the birdie is okay...she's as bad as your humans!

  53. Wowwie Zowwie! Me wishes one of yous had thumbs! Then that birdie would have been out of the PTU and into a tummy!
