Friends and Kitties!
Sheebie here.
I was going through my phone photos and I picked out a few good* ones to show you.
This was taken along a part of the wash that is currently being revegetated. I decided to ride the gravel road instead of the bike trail for a new perspective. The pipes on the banks are for reclaimed water irrigation, and the foliage are all native plants. You can see the dams in the background slowing the water down, allowing a series of ponds to form. The bird in the pond nearest me is a Great Blue Heron--I saw (I think) seven of them! Imagine, waterbirds in the Mojave Desert--there is a truly diverse biome here in the Las Vegas valley.
(The building in the far background is Sam Boyd Stadium.)
Scott and I were out and about and he realized he had on two different shoes!
Stylin'.
See the bumps and scrapes on his shins? He's as bad as a six-year-old.
A nest in a cholla cactus at work. It didn't have any feathers or poop in it so it was likely just a practice nest.
This was taken in late July, during Monsoon season, again at work. It was pouring in the Spring Mountains forty miles off and sunny in Henderson.
I love the vistas out here.
Driving home the other afternoon I saw a lady out walking with her miniature pony! Of course I pulled over to talk and get a couple pictures. His name was Buddy, and he was the friendliest little soul--walked right up to the car window and peered in--he had to snuffle me, and nibble my fingers, too! The crew had a field day sniffing the horse spit on my hands when I got home.
There's more, but I'll save those for another day...The next couple of weeks for me are going to be exciting, yet strange, what with my schedule changing. My intentions are to keep up a regular posting schedule--everything else is up for grabs, though! No promises. I can't wait to awaken naturally, without the effing alarm clock. Two more days. wheeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
Happy Sunday--Have a Great Week!

*good, as in interesting, not visual masterpieces.
Like Scott, my human has been known to accidentally mix up shoes. And her bare legs aren't much better too!
ReplyDeleteOnce san went to her classes with different shoes and her students wondered if she was mad. They kept looking at her feet and it was only then that she realized she had on different shoes.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute horse. Have fun with your new schedule
ReplyDeleteImagine the embarrassment of wearing different shoes at work and the KIDS noticing first. Oh yes.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Now, the lake the heron was in, is it natural ? Äiti wants to know these things. We just want to know what Heron tastes like.
Good luck with the new schedule. Just remember the 13 priorities you have, hehehehe.
MOL! Two diff shoes? Oh our humans would NEVAH do that (HAHAHA). Uhm, our dad's got those scrapes and stuff too.
ReplyDeleteSQUEEEEE!!! What a cute horsie!!
ReplyDeleteHeh-heh, our Mommy has a pic of her feet like that one!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! We love your "field trips"!
I love your photo's, so alien to me in uk, here everything is green so the desert is kind of bare to me but I'm sure there is beauty in everything.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and never miss one day.

So much I want to comment on, but Scot's legs have driven it all from my mind!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. It is so interesting to see the desert. Of course we like the miniature pony the best since we have miniature donkeys. That terrific that the gal takes the pony for a walk. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThose are great shots. Thanks for sharing. And we love Scott's tie-dyed shoes...even if they don't match. :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom went to work one day with 2 different shoes on! What silly humans we have! Those are really cool photos. I think my mom wants to go on a bike ride with you. Do they make baskets so kitties can go along?
ReplyDeleteGotta love horse spit.
ReplyDeleteYou live in a very interesting place, not only is the scenery beautiful but a person can have a pet pony? In an urban setting?
ReplyDeleteI always said I wanted a pony for the kids but never had the room for it.
I quite like Scott's two different shoes...they look like a happy accident.
So, you gotta walk your mini-horse? Who knew?
ReplyDeleteYou can't really tell those are two different shoes...with all the color and all.... No worries--they still look cool!
LOVE the rain off in the distance. Gosh, it's lovely there.
Those vistas are stunning! Hope you enjoy your new schedule, it won't take any "time" for you to adjust. Love second shift myself when I worked.
ReplyDeleteWe wouldn't have noticed the shoes were different from each other if you hadn't said it. They were just simply colorful.
ReplyDeleteI put 2 different shoes on once on a cruise on formal night! Similar style but not even the same colour. Thank goodness I was wearing a long dress. I didn't realise until we went back to our room at the end of the night. Either no-one else noticed or they were too polite to tell me.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Sheebie!!! Amazing the things one can see when out and about.
ReplyDeleteHugs Madi and Mom
PS mom loves bright shoes like Scott's
All Summer Mom wore capris. She also wore a LOT of bumps and scrapes :/
ReplyDeleteWE like the vistas too and your visit with Buddy :) He is mighty cute.

Hehehe... That's pretty funny 'bout the shoes. But no wonder he didn't realize at first. I, Nerissa the Cat and ace reporter, didn't notice myself until you pointed it out. I'm usually a pretty observant cat, bein' an ace reporter and all.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
Such beautiful pictures! And the miniature pony is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I'm still laughing over the shoes.
ReplyDeleteWait, is that a scuffed up ankle or a tattoo? The beautifully backlit pony rock!
ReplyDeleteGrrreat pictures !
ReplyDeleteEspecially LOVED the monsun rain ♡

PS. Thanks for your support with my Uncle MaxMaxx.
Those were all great and the monsoon was creepy cool!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing the vistas (and shoes! so much to see out west, apparently ;-D). Mrs. W. remembers being amazed by the sky the ONE time she went west and was completely FREAKED to realize that the sun set and the moon rose at the SAME TIME. You just don't realize things like that here in the east, where there's always a tree or a statue of a Dead White Guy in the way. Also, She doesn't get out much, in general, so it made for a pretty profound effect.
ReplyDeleteHow neat that you saw seven great herons! We liked the pony, too. :)
ReplyDeleteNice shoes, Scott! MOL!
what a world you live in, thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are pawsome. So much different from around here. Who could tell he had 2 different sneaks on. I just thought they were dyed differently. Best of luck on the new job/shift.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Scott has another pair at home that looks just like that pair! Har!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. Fantastic picture of the rain, hilarious to imagine the krew sniffing the cute pony, pooping in one's own nest?? and truthfully who could tell the shoes were different? In a case like this, in my opinion, such details cease to matter. Thanks for kicking off my Monday in this happy way!
ReplyDeleteMix it up, Scott! I think they look marvelous and must require buying at least two pair at a time. I love that you met someone walking their miniature horse, too.
ReplyDeletethe pony is totally pawsome! And isn't it fun when the birds migrate and stop to rest in the most unlikely places like a desert!
