Kitties!
The snax with toothpicks baby hummingbirds have gotten their feathers!
Look at how much larger they are after just one week...it's amazing.
Pretty soon they'll be just the right size for an amuse bouche...
...OK, OK, we're kidding...these birdies ain't for eatin'.
*sigh*
Besides, who wants to consume something that poops, All. The. Time.

Happy Friday!

The poops must be some natural defence against predators. There certainly is a growing moat of them. But we think soon they will be bursting out of the nest - they look pretty tight in there already. Drool.
ReplyDeleteTiny little digestive systems!
ReplyDeleteWOW. So big for a week. Their parents must have worked really hard.
ReplyDeleteWow, they really fill up that nest, don't they??
ReplyDeleteLooks like that old adage about "pooping in one's own nest" is true. HahaMeow!
Happy Friday, kittehz!
XOXO
Ewww. They are messy things, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThey are growing fast! And wow are they well camoflaged too!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to get that view and to be able to follow them as they grow. A blessing I think
ReplyDeleteThey have grown so quickly. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBirds grow so fast, don't they? Much faster than kittens.
ReplyDeletePoop aside, they are quite extraordinary, aren't they?!
ReplyDeleteThose little ones would barely be a snack, let alone make a whole meal. Best let them grow up, then maybe they will come back again next year and make more baby birds for your viewing pleasure!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to watch those little hummers grow up. It will be sad the day that they take off but maybe they will stay close to the house.Great pictures. Have a great week end.
ReplyDeletethey grew up fast.
ReplyDeleteThey'd certainly amuse our bouches! Though, split 13 ways there wouldn't be much amuse left, would there.

Well, what goes in must come out - they must be getting fed REALLY well.
ReplyDeleteThat's an awful lot of poop for two little birds. Maybe you should invite them in to use your litter boxes.
ReplyDeletewell, sure. maybe not EAT them, but...bat around a bit, right? just a bit of pouncy-pouncy, that's all. That tree doesn't look too hard to climb if you ask me, btw...
ReplyDeleteAnd our daddy complains about our, uh, facilities! Sheesh! Wonder if the birdie's parents tell them it's a good thing they're cute too!
ReplyDeleteUm yeah, it's a lot of poops...

ReplyDeleteThe birdies are so beautiful! We choose not to look at their poops and pay attention to their size and color... Such pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteThe poop is epic. The birdies are adorable. Guess you can't have one without the other. Life. Not for sissies.
ReplyDeleteAmuse bouche...that does sound tantalising! But we are not big on raisons...and there sure are a lot of raisons hanging around the nest.... :p
ReplyDeletethe critters in the cottage xo
Those darlings have just about totally outgrown their nest. Hope they learn to fly before that happens. Glad you are not planning on enjoying them as snax. Have a great weekend. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteTheir parents must be sooo busy feeding those non-stop little beggars.
