Flat

Kitties!

Rupert here.
It's really HOT* out on the Catio these days...and you all know what happens when we cats get toasty:

WE MELT.

Mommy laughs and calls us "FlatCats".

She says we remind her of of the watches in this painting by Salvador Dali,
The PURRsistance of Memory (sic).

I dunno...I have a suspicion she's crazypants.

What do you think?

Happy Monday!

*115F degrees or 43C...either way it's a blast furnace!

  1. We bet laying flat is protective. TBT saw a show where predators notice "height" on the flat plains. And we little felines were (horrid ta consider) "food". So laying low is in our genes..

  2. Very melty: we like those temperatures only by choice in the sauna and your Mom can tell you all about them.
We - in particular me and Ruska - are very glad that it is less hot here but a bit more heat would be nice..... Seppo should still have his sweater on!

  3. Ya do kinda remind me of those clocks.

  4. Our Mommy tends to look a little like that when it gets to 115 degrees! MOL!

  5. OK, so I won't complain about our 85 degrees yesterday - - - T.

  6. I dunno, I was feeling a tad melty myself today!

  7. Yeesh, yeah, I think anycat would be flat in that heat! But you still look like you need a scritch under that chin.. :)

  8. I'd die if it was that hot. Melting is a better option, isn't it?

  9. We melt like that and we're inside in the air conditioning. It must be in sympathy to the outdoor temperature.

  10. You do look very flat, but that is way too hot!

  11. I suspect your suspicion might be correct, but in a good way.

  12. we think you need to go back inside and enjoy some cold airs

  13. Rupert, Salvador Dali was a cat lover! We do not think your mommy is crazypants...this time.

  14. Blech! Meowm says she doesn't miss that heat at all! We do think your Mom is crazypants though!

  15. Hahaha, actually that painting comes to my mind when I see melting kitties, too!
We get a bit cooler air since the weekend. I hope you get some relief from hots, too. Happy Monday!

  16. It has been nice and cool here the last two days....... we had some nice RAIN yesterday, and it cooled everything off. Mom likes it because then she doesn't have to water the vegetable patch.
We like you as a melty flat cat, Rupey. We especially like your dangling kicker in that first pic.

  19. We melt at 100 degrees so by 115 we'd be goo! Our Grandma from Vegas says 102-104 she can handle but 10 degrees more than that is too much. She has to take her dog Dolly to the park so there's grass to not burn her little feets. It's just too hot!

  20. Yikes 115 degrees...yikes yikes yikes. I can see why you're a flat cat!

  21. sometimes our cats congregate in the hottest part of our house so that they can play 'dead kitty' I think they are hoping to get treats out of it

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yep, that is a prime example of melting for sure. And yes, it's hot AND she's crazypants.

  23. Mum thinks your mom is right ; at some degree of hots, kitties reach their melting point. She's crazy pants too. Purrs

  24. Well, you do look a wee bit flat but until we see a melty clock draped over you, we think you're safe.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Cats who have crazy pant people are the luckiest cats in the world. Congratulations!

  26. We would just croak if it got *that* hot here. We were all cranky when it was 104°!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wow, that is hot! It's probably pretty dry although that may be a small consolation at those temps. Rupert, your mommy's comparison is funny and pretty appropriate! You look like a flat, cute panther. :)

  28. Even if your mom didn't think that, we would still say she's crazypants. ;)

  29. 115 degrees- yikes! You do look melted, but cute :)

  30. OMC that's is furry hot kitties! Melting sounds like the best option unless there is an ice cube to sleep on....guess there aren't many of those that aren't melted either.

Pee Ess: Mom bean says she could stand to melt a little bit.

  31. Whoa! We would just be a puddle in that heat!

  32. Bwa! Haa!! Haaa!!! Our Mommy said exactly the same thing about us!!! She called us Salvadore Dali Cats!!!

  33. OMC Rupert. That is just too HOT! We'd all be back in the house if it got that hot on our patio. We think your mom is exactly right in her comparison. We think your doing a super good leg dangle. Stay cool, pal. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
