Unlike some of the more intelligent less robust Kitties here at The Lounge, I really enjoy lazing around in the heat.

You can find me outdoors, even when it's elebenty zillion billion degrees on the Catio.

I have Top Secret Cooling Weapon, though; I scoot up next to the foundation of the house, where it's much cooler.  

I plaster my furry tummy up on the concrete and absorb the cold, like this:

CATserole Cooking

Today we have a recipe--for CATserole.

It's pretty easy, just two steps:

Place one (1) cat in the Oven

Bake at sunpuddle temperature until done, or elebenty hours.

Serve warm.

The Baby here, with some photos taken pre-surgery...my arms and tummy are all bald and stuff right now so I told Mommy to use some older pictures.

Check out how pink my ears are...it's sure been HOT on the Catio!

In fact, it's so HOT, I'm melting right into the floor of the Apartment Complex.

Mommy laughed and called me "Miss Flatty Flat Cat"...how rude!  But she did eat my tummy afterwards to make up for it, and I really liked that.

Kitties, I am feeling a bit stronger every day.  I was pretty wobbly at first, but the peeps are stuffing me full of nutritious shaved deli ham and poached chikkun and roasted turkey and bacons*, as much as I want (score!!!) and Mommy put my fleece-lined box in the lower kitchen cupboard, where I decided to convalesce.  (Mommy couldn't find me early Sunday morning--she woke up at 4 AM worried about me--and ran around freaking out until she remembered that I can open the cabinet doors and thought to look there.  heh. )  The Vet called last Monday and talked to Mommy for over a half-hour and they decided I'll start prednisone therapy next week along with a change of foodables for all of us, although that will happen gradually.  Mommy will monitor my "output" and Daddy will assess how I'm feeling (he's really good at that) so between the two of them they should be able to make a good assumption as to how my innertube is doing.  I've resumed my morning pee patrols Outside and I leapt up onto the counter yesterday evening (to Mommy's dismay--I'm supposed to take it easy, whatever that means) in order to snoopervise the turkey distribution.   So things are looking up...thank you once again for all your purrs and support, and I'll keep you posted on my progress!

Thermal Thursday

The HOTS have arrived here in the desert.

About time!

It was 104F out on the Catio, (finally) hot enough for KonaKitty to abandon her heated beddy-box and head for the concrete.  May Ling is wedged up against the foundation keeping her back cool.  DO NOT think the yellow stain next to Miss Ling is tinkle...it's spilled varnish!  Truly.

Scouty, who normally sleeps in the Sky Lounge during the day has moved down a floor to the floor, venturing occasionally inside to cool off on the tile.  Rhino is oblivious to the heat.  He stays on the shelf, no matter the weather.  He's a trooper!

The Baby is enjoying the heat, but her forays Outside are now curtailed to the times the yard is shady--the rocks are too hot for her paw pads for very long.  She'd be happy to snooze in the tomato plants all damn day but Daddy is a wiener and refuses to stay out for hours, watching her.

Mommy says she hardly sees any of us anymore, and that the outside Cat Boxes have considerably more dung than the indoor ones, now.  We love Summer.  Nothing beats pooping al fresco in pleasant warm weather!

Oozing Through the Cracks

It may be winter in the desert, but thankfully it's still warm enough for a cozy outdoor sunbath provided it's not windy on the Catio.

Yesterday I got so warm my tail melted between the wood slats!

The Apartment Complex faces South and in the morning we all pile onto it for our Post-Breakfast Morning Nap (Part the First), and I chose the ground floor.

Mommy saw me snoozing and couldn't resist the temptation to photograph.

Which is totally understandable, given that I'm so stunningly gorgeous.

And modest.

Oh, hello there!

I was having a little siesta, dreaming about a handsome young spark--I may be old, but I'm not dead!

Maybe he'd like to view my bald nood tummy*: 

When it's really toasty outside (like it is right now) I like to wedge myself under the overhang and up against the cool concrete slab.  This way I can warm my bones yet keep my cool-cat countenance.  The electrical cord pillow's an extra bonus--sometimes having a slovenly Daddy is a good thing.

Cat Stacking

For a lot of our readers it's pretty gol-danged gosh-durned nasty outside.

Winter is here in the Desert, too.  We've had ten days of icky rain (!!!), with more to come, and this weekend it's supposed to get down to freezing temperatures.

Not at all like the HOTS we prefer.

So today we thought we'd help all y'all warm up by posting a picture of four of us, stacked up, soaking in the sunbeams.

Keeping cool on Sunday

It's Hot hot hot outside!

This was taken on Friday...it got up to 114.9 in our back yard this afternoon on 6/5.

Our Catio faces West so it gets nice and toasty in the afternoon. It's great in the wintertime, but in Summer we have to beat the heat...

So we go belly up inside the house to cool off...

Or get outside early to do our patrols.

The blanket on the sofa is always a nice place for a nap and Mommy sits here after work so there's lovins going on...

and the hot box in the yellow bedroom is good for grooming and checking out the desert across the street.

The big bedroom is nice and cool...

So's the tile on the floor.

There's a big Cat tree inside to rest on...

And the Big Bed has plenty of spots, too!
