So I made sure to spend a lot of time sitting doing nothing to drive her crazy...

...and when I did move she wasn't ready.

heh.

It was pretty awesome, she didn't get one good picture of me in action.

Or of my face.

Or a close up!

The Continuing Adventures of Sweet Pea

So, for the past two days Salem has gotten to flop over in the dirt stroll about the Great Outdoors, and I was consumed with envy.  I practically wore a path in the cement, running along the perimeter of the Catio, watching, and waiting, and wanting.

Well--guess what?

I got to go out, too!

Like Salem, I'm a tiny bit intimidated hugely brave, exploring the yard.

But gazing down the walkway were some pretty interesting things to investimigate...I'll have to go check 'em out...soon!

The Fitbit I received for Catmas continues to goad me off my butt.

I am lucky enough to get in a couple of long walks on shift at work, doing plant checks, and on my days off I cruise the neighborhood for exercise.  It's great, except for one thing--the drastic elevation change, no matter where I go--we live in a valley.  Which means hills...

Like this one!

  There's a nice park with benches halfway up the mountain--that's today's destination.

Part way up, looking back.  It's a total of fourteen flights of stairs to the top.  And yes, I'm huffing and puffing by the time I reach the top. 

But the view, holy cats, it's so worth the work.

Beyond the mountains it was cloudy and raining in California; from here I can see the weather coming in for hours before it actually arrives.  Not that the rain makes it here, much--but that just leaves more sunny days for adding steps on my Fitbit, right?

Today when I was out inspecting the gardens with Mommy I had a Splendid Idea.

Immediately implementing my plan, I sidled down the catio...

...inspected the blue bench...

...quickly trotted off along the side of the house...

...and ended up in the front yard, where I am not "supposed" to go!

It was awesome.  

Mommy even let me eat some weeds* before she once again herded me into the back yard.

Yes, 'tis I, The Baby, enjoying a sun bath.

As well as the dirt variety.

After my morning ablutions, I like to stroll along the side of the house and eat weeds.  I'm only supposed to go as far as the air conditioner but what self-respecting feline listens to rules?

Mommy calls me...

...but I ignore her.  

That is, until she comes over and picks me up and kisses me and eats my scruff-fur; then I just can't help myself and I purr like a fool.

It's a good routine.

I get to be defiant, loved, and Filthy Dirty, all in one morning!

I'm sporting the very latest trend in feline fashion today:

Pine needles!

In fact, this trend is SO new I only *just* invented it on my morning walk outside.

I cleverly attached the needles to one of my whiskers using some spider silk.  

My accoutrement was quite durable and lasted for almost ten minutes in which time Mommy desperately tried to get some decent photos before it fell off.  What do you think, kitties--could this be the next new "thing"--and what else might work?

Tasty Tuesday

I may  have told you this before, but every morning I relentlessly politely pester ask to Go Outside.  I gotta pee in the soil of Nevada at least once daily or the Earth might go spinning off into space--really--it could happen.

Anyway, after I dig fifty holes and pee in only one I enjoy a nice snoop around the back yard.  One place I inspect is the peep's winter garden.

(Mommy needs to ramp up her lettuce-eating, it's starting to bolt!)

Behind the kale Daddy planted some oat grass just for me.

Actually, he takes some in for the other Kats but I deign not to notice that...

*grizzling*

...because I'm the only one allowed Outside to eat the grass in situ!

Filthy Dirty Wednesday

Just enjoying the Outside.

The peeps had new irrigation lines put in the yard last week, which means lots and lots of fresh dirt, everywhere.

It's great.

I was able to dig four brand-new holes before I finally decided where to pee!

For some reason, this tickled Mommy.

I had a nice rollaround, too.

There's nothing so refreshing as a Dirt Bath.

Mommy says I have dirty heels--like that's a bad thing?
