Kitties!
We had a really yummy looking pretty bird come visit us.
Daddy took photos, and Mommy identified him.
He's a Hooded Oriole!
Daddy noticed him when he (the Oriole, not Daddy) was trying to drink the nectar out of the hummerbird feeder.
He was partially successful; he got a few sips.
Orioles love fruit, so Mommy put some out for him to eat.
We haven't seen him again, but we're hungrily watching, and Mommy is inspecting the fruit for peck-marks. She hopes he'll become a regular.
We hope he tastes like chik-kun...
Happy Wednesday!

He is a pretty boy.
ReplyDeleteWe had a new bird come for a visit.
A WHITE PELICAN!
A very big bird for sure.
What a beauty, I sure hope he comes back again!!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Our Mommy loves bird-watching. We do too, but fur different reasons entirely. (do you think he's all dark meat???)
ReplyDeleteYou naughty kitties!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cute birdie. He looks to be very hot and thirsty. We hope he'll come back for that fruit.
Or as the cat in Get Fuzzy says about birds, "They were also made DELICIOUS, so don't be lookin' to them for answers." ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh look at that delicious looking bird...
ReplyDeleteHow the heck do you get birds to visit your garden? We got Mommy to put out seeds (pumpkin, sunflower....), peanuts (for the squirrels), mango and even set up a bath for them but everything's left untouched. Crazy birds (and squirrels).
ReplyDeleteOh well, we'll just enjoy watching YOUR birds. Sigh.
Oh boy, oh boy, that's one tasty looking bird! You lucky kitties!!!!
ReplyDeleteOur mom found a deaded bird on the deck and she wouldn't share it with us and it was already deaded. She's mean like that!
Sasha, Sami, & Saku (Mom Eileen)
We has a bird that looks very much like that around here. But Mommy says he is a evening Grosbeak!
ReplyDeleteWe has Orioles but they is WAY too fast for Kozmo!
Kisses

PS Happy Hunting!
Oh yummy! ::twitch::
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! We just get boring sparrows here, and an occasional mourning dove and even more occasionally, a dumb pigeon.
ReplyDeleteDo the yellow bits taste different to the black?
ReplyDeleteHe looks DELICIOUS! He even comes pre-mustarded!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! We get a thug of a Willie Wagtail come to visit us. He dances around on the balcony and pulls faces at us.
ReplyDeleteOh Mr Birdy is a beauty!! What a stunner!! Awwww wow!! Hope he stays a while!! Take care

Oh, snap! I keep meaning to get a hummingbird feeder! Thanks for the reminder! We have hummingbirds that do fly-bys on our patio and I'd like to give them some refreshments!
ReplyDeletefresh fowl... good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou have such exotic birds in your neck of the woods! All we get are sea gulls, crows and buzzards! Small birds are scarce, but we do have some swallows and martins this year :)
ReplyDeletePeeEss They all taste like chik-kun!!
He certainly is a handsome bird!
ReplyDeleteWe have no hope of seeing one of those in our little back space, let alone the ultimate fantasy of it falling into our mouths.
WOOHOO! Take-out!

i've never seen a oriole in person and it's a life goal because i like the baseball team the baltimore orioles and the Hoagy Carmichael song of the same name.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been exciting to see a bird like that. Our feeders get sparrows and finches and maybe a cardinal or blue jay. We hope your oriole comes back for more good food and something to drink.
ReplyDeleteMom says: so beautiful birdie!
ReplyDeleteCats say: Nham nham!!!
MOL thanks for clearing it was the pretty Oriole trying to drink from the hummingbird feeder...the visual we got of your Dad doing it was kind of messy.
ReplyDeleteHugs Madi
Our high school team is the Orioles.
ReplyDeleteWe have a few of the regular kind of oriole in our neighborhood. One neighbor puts out orange marmalade for them and they like that.
look - fast food delivery!!! MOL
ReplyDeleteEstamos torcendo para que eles voltem.
ReplyDeleteso very cool! I too hope he comes back
ReplyDeleteHe does look quite delic.......errr, purrty!
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a pretty little one!
ReplyDeleteAn Oriole visited my parents house and their hummingbird feeder too! So after some research we got my dad an oriole feeder. They do like the nectar, but their feeder has a different configuration because they dont have the same beak/tongue that hummers do. But the actually prefer grape jelly and oranges. There are feeders that have all three, nectar, jelly bowls and orange spikes, but we got one that only has jelly and orange places. I hope your Oriole comes back! But with all those drooling kitties, would you blame him if he didnt? MOL
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I am trying to attract them at my feeders. I have a special feeder for them that holds an orange slice and some jelly. They like grape jelly! We have had some humming bird visitors with the nectar feeder too. So fun!
ReplyDeleteNice shots of a beautiful bird. We don't have them around here. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOoooh yeah I bet he does taste a lot like chik-kin.

That is a pretty bird. Wonder if he tastes as good as he looks.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bird!
ReplyDeleteawww yes the Hooded Oriole..Mom had them come through in So Calif. They always show up in Summer around hummer feeders. Mom has an Oriole feeder that you put half an orange in and then some nectar around it, like for hummers, but the nectar is open, no little holes to suck it out of...too much information????
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty! We love little yellow birds!
ReplyDeleteHope he comes back.
so beautiful and, we bet, so yummy! it's always fun when you get new bird visitors, isn't it? we hope he'll stick around too!
ReplyDeletePip, SMidgen, MInnie, Hollie

ReplyDeleteThat looks nommiest! We bet there is extra flavor in the orange fevvers.
