Kitties!
You all are such fart smellers, we mean, smart fellers...yesterday's Mystery Object was indeed a BIRDY NEST!
Mommy broke it apart so we could examine the inside, and also to prevent any olfactory monopolization whapfests.
There weren't any eggs or birdies (or poop) on the inside, so we think this might be a test nest--one the birdies built for a trial run.
Rupert!
TMI!!!
For Cod's sake, sir, show some decency.
Sorry about that, kitties.
May Ling got feathers stuck on her whiskers which was no surprise...
...look at how many there were lining the nest. Some birdy had a bald belly for sure.
Mommy thinks this might be an Oriole nest--what do you think? We did see some around last summer.
Tomorrow...Scouty is entranced.
Happy Tuesday!

pee ess: Mommy had a really busy day at work and got home rather late so we'll be around to see you soon...
Just look at all of those feathers!
ReplyDeleteWe think that wasn't a test nest - Äiti says that birdies usually don't poop in the nest as it is unhygienic. Parent birdies eat the baby birdies poop.
ReplyDeleteMirsku wishes he had been there to whisker lick......
And nice 'tock shot for Rupert - no apologies necessary!
I'll bet it was warm!
ReplyDeleteToo bad there were no birdies to go with it!
ReplyDeleteEggsellent!

Oh but Lounge Kitties, some roast birdies would be nice, no? purrr....meow!
ReplyDeleteWith all those feathers, I think it was a cat nest!
ReplyDeleteOOooo I can see why you kitties were all over that! How cool!
ReplyDeleteThat's a TEST nest? Where's the birdie going to get more fevvers!?
ReplyDeleteRupert, is that your bum or are you just happy to see us? MOL!
ReplyDeleteI hope you got the water turned on again! No pressure! Well, I mean lots of water pressure, just no pressure on you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of feathers. Some poor birdie may be flying around all bald and such. We would like to stick our noses in one of those nest things.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Cindi Lou & The Kitty Krew
Looks like you are all having fun finding out about that bird's nest. Hope your Mummy has a better day. :)
ReplyDeleteI don´t think the birdie just have a bald belly :)

ReplyDeletePS WE NEED A SHADOW UPDATE! pLEASE
Hugs madi and mom
I guess the birds of a feather flew the coop together! Now that is really empty nest syndrome! Please stop by and wish Dante a Happy 11th Birthday.
ReplyDeleteThat sure looked like a very fine nest. Too bad there was no birdies inside.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Genghis
Mom said the Mommy and Daddy birds will take away the poop (and egg shells) and drop it far away from the nest so critters can't smell it and get the babybirds..
ReplyDeleteUsually the parents will come back and sometimes use the old nest.. well maybe not yours :)
Happy smelling!!
~ The Bunch
We're glad there was nothing in the nest except feathers because that means the babies all grew up and flew away during the summer!
ReplyDeleteHoly Cod is right! What a find, we are aquiver with excitement!
ReplyDeleteJada and Scully
Rupert!!! You make me feel very inadequate!!
ReplyDeleteRegards
Austin
We have smelled a couple birdy nests, but never a big one like THAT! And never full of fevvers either...
ReplyDeleteOh, we hear about the empty nest syndroom,is this what it is ?
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool nest!!! That thing is big enough for W2 to fit in! ...maybe I can contact the mama bird and have her come and take him away.
ReplyDelete; ) Katie
Wow! I love how you were all investigating together. Kinda like a Science class lol
ReplyDeleteWith all those fevvers, likely a real nest. We thinks they lose fevvers into the nest as they keep their babies warm.
ReplyDeletehmmm...Mom says it looks a bit big for an Oriole and they usually like palm fronds or even cactus...hmmm...maybe something larger...Dove? Pigeon? hard to say...and tomorrow is Scouty!!! YEA!!!, paw pats, Savvy
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Look at all those fevvers! The lingering scent must have been so delectable!
ReplyDeleteaww, bummer it was an empty nest!
ReplyDeletePip, Smidgen, minnie, Hollie
Whoa! Lookit all the feathers! I'd prolly to sneezing all night. MOL!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like there was a murder in that nest with all those feathers!! EEEK! Well, I hope not. I can't imagine that was a "test" because that poor old birdy would be walking around naked!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWish we could sniff something cool like that!!
We need to send Mom out for nature walks or something!!!!
Purrs Tillie and Georgia,
