You know, I really do love my Mommy (mostly at night when she's in bed flat on her back and it's safe), butI'm a bit shy, so--on general principles--when she sidles into the room trying to get a photo of me I bail.
Which is why there aren't many photos of me on the blog...in case you were wondering.
Happy Friday!
XX CC XX
The Mommy here--CC is a total love bug, but on his terms. If we are on the floor (with another cat as a buffer) or in bed he's all Mister Furry Purry and thrilled to be petted and fussed over--but if we approach him and he thinks his brother Scouty's words are true and it's the Stew Pot for him, too!
So, last Wednesday night I was goofing off crocheting relaxing on the sofa when suddenly there arose such a clatter...no wait...wrong story...try this again...all of a sudden a Cat Conga line danced indoors through the cat flap from the Catio and converged on the rug. Since the gang had been glued to one corner of the Catio for most of the afternoon I knew this was gonna be good...and it was!
Somekitty (CC, I assume--he's a prolific hunter) had caught themselves a small skittery creature and thought that *maybe* they might get some much needed alone time indoors to better enjoy their small furry guest. Alas, their hope was in vain...rodent hockey ensued with Rupert as the victor making tracks through the cat flap with the crowd thundering back out to the Catio and me right behind brandishing my phone.
Where I found the second period of hockey happening.
Note: This is where innumerable small guests have perished been entertained so I didn't have great hopes for the latest one.
Rupert then tired of the litter-box action and moved the venue to the carpet...
...where he re-attracted the crowd.*
And then...THE MOUSIE GOT AWAY!!!!!
There was the tiniest aperture of escape during the final period of Rodent Hockey, and Mousie raced to the goal and freedom.
*sheesh*
I live with ELEBENTY cats, and they can't dispatch ONE mouse? It's totally embarrassing! On the bright side, I didn't have to clean up any regurgitated rodentia...
Happy Monday!
XX The Mommy XX
*Please note how Johnson has no clue what's going on--that boy is special, bless his heart*
(Please ignore the aluminum pan, it was a windy day and it blew away from the grill. It was TOTAL bonus, though--there were chicken and steak drippings in it!)
Mommy moved the small carpet that was in her bedroom out onto the Catio when Daddy mopped the floors last Thursday, where it has remained, continuously occupied, ever since.
We're here to tell you that a rug sure beats the dickens outta lounging on the bare hard concrete*--as you can see in our header we've had carpet on the Catio before but this one is lightweight and will dry quickly if if gets wet from the rain (or barfed on, a virtual certainty)--so Mommy relented said we can keep it out here.
She also moved our cat trees around (inside and out) and reconfigured all our beddies (freshly washed!) and shelves and sleeping boxes** so we have some new/old things to explore and occupy our tiny minds.
So, even though our Mommy is a heinously sarcastic woman, we're gonna let her slide just this once and admit we love her and all that she does for us.
Happy Tuesday!

*because there is absolutely nowhere else to lounge in comfort.
**perhaps one should ignore the preceding footnote...
Mommy calls me her Little Love-Bug, and this is why: you almost never see me solo! I'm always loving and smooching with one of my housemates, either Scouty or Johnny or Rupert (or with the peeps in bed at night...I adore tummy rubs, but ONLY in bed when they are laying down. It's "safer" that way.)
So when two of my favorite pals up and vamoosed for an evening I was bereft--and when they came back home reeling like drunken sailors a bit unsteady I was overjoyed to see them, even if all they really wanted to do was recover! I gave Rupert a thorough sniffing and an ear wash to get rid of the evil vet stank...
...and I will neither confirm nor deny that I was so overly enthusiastic with the Full Body Rub of Joy™ that I nearly tipped him over!
Mommy has been pretty sad lately, but I told her that sometimes you just have to pull up your socks* and leap back into the fray:
Thusly!
We are all very grateful for the kindness and love of our Readers--Kona's passing knocked the stuffing outta Mommy, but she's determined to get back in the swing of blogging because it helps her to feel better.
I'm doing my part, running around like a silly madcat...
The ones where your peep is out of pictures for the blog, so they follow you around endlessly and get all up in your stuff, pleading for you to do something, anything?
This was the scene on my bed last Thursday evening when I wanted to go to bed.
It was chilly outside so the evening sleep fest had moved indoors.
I obediently went back out to the living room and sat on the sofa and read until I couldn't keep my eyes open--how could I disturb all those handsome snoozy mancats? Scouty gives me a Reproachful Look and goes skittering out the cat flap the second I approach the bed (which scatters the rest of the gang) and since there are no other suitable places for catsin the entire house to sleep, retreat was my only option.
And then I had a brainwave: Scouty likes CATIO CHIPS! even more than the bed and his Tiny Johnson. I rattled the cover of the jerky container and soon enough his little Ornj face was peeking around the corner to check if there were any delectable morsels on his the plate. Chips consumed and crisis averted.
I was able to contort myself around the remaining bed whales felines and settle in for the night, and I'm almost positive I felt the little chip-eater slink onto the bed later and snuggle my leg. He'd deny it...but it's true!
Happy Caturday!
XX Mommy, and Maui, Scouty, CC, John and Rupert XX
I asked commanded Mommy to get a photo of me for the Cat on My Head's Sunday Selfie Blog Hop, and to drive the point home I shot her some spectacular laser-eyes!
CC and my brother Scouty here, along with our Mama.
This is the first photo that the peeps ever got of us!
We had been coming in for a few days to eat--after Mommy saw Scouty skitter up the back wall like a tiny furry lizard when she walked out into the yard--and realized there were bebbeh kittehs in the 'hood that needed feeding. It was the middle of summer and blisteringly hot so we all appeared after the sun went down to have our dinner.
About a month later we were captured by the giant scary humans. Our Mama was no longer coming to eat with us...there are lots of coyotes where we live and we think that's what happened...'cos who could bear to abandon two cute little kits like us?
Anyway, Mommy tried her best to domesticate us and she half succeeded; *I* am a total love bug albeit a bit shy, Scouty, as you know, is still completely feral, or so he'd like to think...he's been seen sleeping on the bed with Mommy on occasion!
Here we are the following winter, half grown, contemplating our roots!
Life sure is easier on the inside...no matter what Scouty says.
1) Mommy is home so I gotta get spruced up...she says I'm SUCH a handsome boy and I don't want to disappoint.
2) I get to announce the winners of the drawing from those of you who purchased our initial offering ofCATIO CHIPS!
Are you ready?
Are you SURE you're ready????
Because Daddy is a unclear on the concept of a "contest"and all about fairness terrible businessman he decided that everybody won!
He will be mailing out wild-n-crazy tie-dyed tea towels this week to all of you who bought Chips.
Of course, it's us furkids who really scored, 'cos WE get to eat the CATIO CHIPS and all the peeps get is a lousy set of linens...
*heh heh heh*
Uh oh...I think I missed a spot.
That's better.
Gotta stay Handsome, you know.
Thanks to everyone who sampled our wares...Daddy processed another thirty pounds of chicken this past weekend so we have plenty on hand if you have already gobbled daintily consumed your first order...or if you haven't ordered yet there's enough to fill you up!
