Vishus Vednesday

Kitties!

We take everything back.

Everything, that is, that we said was awful about Mommy leaving us, because we are just lucky she's ALIVE.

We all know that deer are vishus and on the lookout to eat tender young joosey kittehs, right?
Do you see what's in the background?
Kitties, it's creatures even MORE vishus...

MOOSE...

...and it tried to eat our Mommy!
or click HERE

Although, on second thought, Mommy's pretty tough and stringy (and old)...maybe she was safe, after all.

In any case, we'd advise all of your peeps to beware of potentially vishus mooses if they ever visit the Ranua zoo in Lapland.  Because you just never know...

Happy Wednesday!

Friends and Kitties!

I am a Zombiemaniac.
Fact.
So when I saw this truck in the grocery store parking lot I was in transports!

Is this cool or what!?!

*******************************

I was at work and I saw this fellow:
He's in the center...

...a jackrabbit!

*********************************

The guys I work with are the biggest bunch of softies, ever.  I was working out at the lake plant when the phone rang.  It was my counterpart (Kenny) at the Henderson plant who was backwashing a filter when he spied a CAT, huddled on the bracket:
He probably fell in while being chased by a coyote--we find wildlife pretty often in the filters.  Cat was different though; he was alive, which was a miracle.

Well, of course all work at the plant stopped to rescue this poor kitty.  There was Kenny, an engineer, two mechanics, a supervisor and a planner trying to rescue poor Mr.Cat to no avail, he was having nothing to do with being netted. (We have long pool nets to retrieve things out of the water)  So Kenny calls me (of course) for suggestions and I told him to lower a ladder into the water so Mr.Cat could swim to it.  And it worked!  Mr. Cat knew just what to do and one of the guys, Jerry, took him home to recover.  It's been two weeks now and Mr. Cat is living the life of Riley in one of Jerry's swamp-cooled out buildings; he's very skittish so we think he may have reverted to being semi-feral.  Jerry plans on taking Mr. Cat in to be scanned for a chip, and if he doesn't have one to keep him.  He has three dogs and two cats already, so if Mr. Cat doesn't integrate he can become indoor-outdoor with the garage as his base camp.
Is it any wonder I love the folks I work with?

***********************************

I was sent a free copy of the book Ask Bob by Peter Gethers to read and review.  Having read and enjoyed his Cat Who Went to Paris series I said yes.
Friends, it just was not my sort of book, in fact, I couldn't even finish it.  The characters felt cookie-cutter and one-dimensional, and the "advice" sections that start each chapter irritated me with glib advice about living with pets, some of which I very much disagree with.  I also took umbrage with the psychological problems of the characters--I live with mental illness and the book seemed to have cliched attitudes towards alternative awareness.  If you are looking for a quick light read and don't mind fictional fiction you might enjoy this book, I didn't.

******************************

I went to the knee doc and he gave me the "all clear"!  The bones have knitted, and I can do whatever I like, so I'm  starting yoga again next week and Scott has aired up our bike tires as we plan to do some very short rides--my quads are still weak on the left side and they need to build up some endurance before I'm ready to do more than a couple miles.  Going down stairs is also still a bit of a challenge, however, last week I felt a *pop* and since then it's felt way better!  I probably tore an adhesion (scar tissue) loose that was holding stuff together not meant to be attached.

*****************************************

Johnny continues to improve.  Poor little guy was really miserable, gasping and gulping and sneezing.  He had a senior blood panel done while he was at the vet and he's fit as a fiddle otherwise, which is nice to know.

Well, I think that's all the news for this edition, more to come next time...the third and final book in Hugh Howey's Silo series, DUST, loaded last night at midnight onto my Kindle and I have some fabulous reading to do.  Drop whatever you're doing and read this series!!!!!

Happy Sunday, and have a Wonderful Week!

HALLOWEEN CREATURE FEATURE!

Kitties!

Happy Halloween!

We have some mighty frightening creatures here in the desert...guaranteed to scare the fur pants right offa you!
Please shield young kittens and squeamish humans from the following photos:
Mister Kadiddle Hopper!
Mommy is terrified of these.

Sidewinder Rattlesnake--notice something missing from the tip of the tail?  We chewed the rattles off before Mommy took it away from us!
She's a real buzz kill, sometimes.

Johnny and his Desert Hairy Scorpion--sadly, Scorpions are not good at playing a long time.

The Little Brown Bat that Could!
Almost scare the poop out of Mommy, that is.

A Tarantula!
He was meandering down the hall at work, so Mommy scooped him into the jar and released him outdoors.

Missus Black Widow, with her potential children.
These Ladies are Bad News.  Daddy sprays poison to kill them and Mommy smashes them with her shoe. They are worse than rattlesnakes--at least with a snake bite there's antivenin shots; a Black Widow bite would kill us.

Speaking of dead, here's a dead cockroach.  Which is how most of 'em end up after WE see 'em!
They don't taste good though.  We leave the carcasses for Daddy to clean up.

A Praying Mantis!
We are Not Allowed to eat these; something about being good for the environment, blah blah blah.
Whatever.

And now, the Most Terrifying Creature of them all...

The STYLISH MOMMY!
aaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

Happy Halloween Monday!

Thursday Kreatures with Kona

Kitties!
It's me, the Shy Kat...KonaKitty.
I like to hang back and watch what's going on at the Lounge. You can see a lot of interesting things that way. At night I snuggle under the covers with Mommy and tell her all about my day.
So let's close our eyes...and remember some of the wildlife that I've seen lately...

The Baby. Daddy lets her Out for a few minutes every morning for a supervised stroll. She took advantage of a moment of distraction to roll in the dirt!

Mister Lizard, aka George. Technicnally he's indoors but at one point he was outside...RIP, George.

Mister Hummingbird, in the Lemon tree.

The wild-n-crazy Hippy Dippy Dude! Very elusive and this was a rare sighting!

Snakey Sidewinder. He's about the size of a pencil. Daddy escorted him (in a box) to the desert across the street.

Missus Hummingbird, sipping from the feeder.

Meep Meep! It's the Roadrunner! Watch out, Wiley Coyote!

Mrs. Black Widow. This is an old picture, from our first year in our house. Mommy & Daddy have a bug guy now!

Dedded de-stingered Scorpion! This one we left on the Catio for Daddy to find...heh heh heh.

Praying Mantis...we like to see these in the yard, they eat those nasty brown roaches. You know, the ones we leave for Mommy to find and squeal over.

So Kitties, that's what Me and Mommy talk about at night...all the stuff I see during the day. She's always really interested, and of course she gives me great pets and kissies, too!
So long for now...and I'll be watching!
Happy Thursday Kitties!
XX KonaKitty, official Lounge Watch Kat
Pee Ess: We'll be reading but not commenting (much) on Wednesday & Thursdays, those are Mommy's days off work. Mommy claims she needs to do stuff at home...you know the story.
