Why Mommy Can't Blog

Kitties!

Kona and Rupert here.
We're on Mommy.*

Practicing Total Lap Domination.

We've decided she doesn't need to use the computer!
All Mommy needs to see is my handsome face...

A One Year Update and a RE-Thank You

Kitties!

The Baby here.
A year ago things looked pretty bleak for me.  I was terribly thin, slept all the time, and was in considerable pain from Irritable Bowel Disease.  Nothing stayed down and I was constantly vomiting bile.  Mommy and Daddy were very afraid that my time was close...and Mommy decided to take the risk and have my innards surgically examined as a last-ditch effort to find out what was ailing me.

It was a really tough decision.  She had to do it (secretly) while Daddy was on vacation so he wouldn't freak out.  She wasn't sure I'd make it through the procedure, I was so frail.  She was a mess--as bad as me, actually--and then there was the expense.

Which you, my friends, so generously helped with, as well as the many many many e-mails, phone calls, and texts wishing me well and giving Mommy hope.  I want to thank you all so much, again, for everything!

Today you would never know that I had been so ill.  Sure, I've slowed down a teensy bit, but I am, after all, almost sixteen years old.  (Although you would never suspect it from the way she beat the tar out of a paper bag this afternoon--ed.)  I "get" a prednisone pill every day, and along with a canned food diet supplemented with lots and lots of real chicken, beef and bacon (!!!) I'm back up to a healthy 8 pounds of White Sassy Cat.

So, once again, all of us here at The Lounge would like to say thank you for all the support.  Especially me.

Life is Good.

Happy Friday!

What the Fur?!?!?!? Wednesday

Kitties!

Believe it or not, this is an example of Cat World Domination:

Because if we kitties didn't rule Mommy, she'd have never started blogging and met other Crazy Creative Cat People who would egg her into doing the splits in the Hallmark aisle of Walgreens!

We are a Force to be Reckoned With.
Obey the Kitty!

Happy Cat World Domination Day!

Concerned CC

Kitties!

CC here.
Do you think I look a little worried?
I am!
I'm worried that you all might be a little sad, because we haven't been leaving comments a whole lot on our pals' blogs, lately.
Naturally Mommy is to blame for this and she accepts it entirely--she'd better--but the awful thing is that she says it's just too much on her plate right now; that we are victims of our own success.  That she simply can't keep up the pace...that she's stressing about it and it's taken the fun out of  reading blogs.

Whatever, Mommy.  You are lame.

HOWEVER!  Don't Panic, friends.

We have no intentions whatsoever to give up blogging, it's too much fun.

So please, if you don't hear from us it's not because we haven't visited--we have--but rather that our Mommy is a Horrible Terrible Person and unwilling to acquiesce to our every demand.

*sigh*

But maybe this means more lap time and less laptop time...hmmmmm...which may not be an entirely bad deal!

Right Mommy?

Right you are, my little Cee Monster.

EUREKA! or, The Great Mystery Revealed

Kitties!

For weeks we have been on pins and needles, wanting to tell you all our Big News, and it's finally time:

Mommy is traveling to Finland (of all places) in April to care for the Punapippuri Horde, and their Äiti, as she recovers from surgery!

She is, of course, totally mad to be doing this, but Mommy has never been one for doing something in small measures.,,and in our opinion halfway 'round the globe seems to be in keeping with her personality.

May Ling is over the moon with excitement and busy devising ways to get herself packed up to visit her Finnish Mountain of Lurve, Mirsku.  Mommy has learned how to say "cat" in Finnish which is proly all she needs, right?

So, there you have it--our wild secret!
Many more details in later posts, and please click HERE to read the full story of the genesis of this crazy adventure.

Happy Wild Friday!

Thankful Thursday

Kitties!

A while back* our Canadian friend Knatolee (who also has 13 cats, check out her blog!) sent us these Most Excellent collapsible grocery boxes.
Mommy saw them on Knatolee's blog and knew she needed some for shopping because she detests those flimsy plastic bags, and the canvas ones are saggy and hard to pack.  So, she scoured the interwebs--to no avail.

Thank Cod for blog pals!

Knatolee sent us FOUR boxes and they are wonderful...and not just for groceries.
Thank so much, Knatolee!

Happy Thursday!

A New Sparkling Star

Kitties~

We had some very sad news yesterday.
Sparkle, our wonderful feline friend, author, and fellow blogger has passed.

We are bereft.

Her acerbic wit, unflagging comments, and never-ending scorn of Humans will be missed terribly.

We are sending our love out into the universe, and tonight we'll choose a star in the firmament to remember our blogging star Sparkle.

Please visit Sparkle's blog to leave a comment for her Human Janiss.

My Impediment

Friends and Kitties!

Sheebie the Squish'd here.

Four nights a week I publish my blog from work, and the other three I do from home, often like this:
I lubs my Mommy

Rupert, in the past six months or so, has turned into a complete cuddle monster!  He even solicits his Daddy  (previously unheard of) for hugs and rubbins, chirping and heat-butting to be picked up and snorgled.  It's like one morning he woke up and discovered his love-tank was on E, endlessly.  I don't mind at all...except maybe if I need to use the touch pad...or my left arm, which he loves to pin down and rest his head in the palm of my hand.  His sister Sweet Pea is on the receiving end of his loveys, too--albeit a little less willingly than we--as you can see he's a bit assertive in his approach.

It's so nice to get unconditional love.

Happy Sunday!

Sleeping Beauty

Friends and Kitties!

Sheebie here, or at least most of me...I may have not quite recovered all of what I "lost" last Wednesday!  Thank you all for the get well wishes, they worked.  Fortunately it was only a 24-hour stomach flu bug, and I managed to sleep, albeit all hot and sweaty, at least twenty of those hours.  And I have begun Sleeping Until a Civilized Hour (eight o'clock) in the mornings--that's right--my new shift has started, and so far so good...

Oh the heck with that, I LOVE IT!

Although, I admit, there is some adjusting to be done, although nothing taxing, more like when to go to the grocery store, and what day to change the sheets.  Scott and I will have to work out new meal arrangements, too, although since I've started making smoothies for lunch it's so much simpler.  And I think that's what this whole shift change is going to mean for me, simplicity.

When I was in college I learned a new meaning for a word I already knew: elegance.  Elegance in the sense that something was stripped down to be understood in the simplest terms; a mathematical proof, or a chemical equation.  Everything perfectly balanced, with nary a number or electron extra.  This is what internally I always strive for, I realized, today when I was pushing hard, walking up a giant hill.  That even though I have stuff (and I like my stuff) on a physical plane I need to be elegant in my mind to stay sane.  To be sparing with my mental energy and allocate it correctly.  It was one of those "aha" moments and I don't know why I've never parsed it like that to myself before.

This may have some ramifications on blogging.  Already I've started to pare down commenting because it was causing me more stress than joy to check in daily on so many blogs.  It's a painful process, weaning, and if you don't see me "visiting" as much please don't feel slighted--I still love you--and read you, it's just that I gotta keep it simple.  I'm gonna keep on blogging, though.  The Kats and I have too much to say, never fear, and I enjoy the crap out of the creative process.  And of course every comment I see on a post born of nothing but my imagination (and to be fair, maybe the antics of my husband and fur kids) is a little dopamine-reward rush.  I'd be an idiot to want to quit pushing that particular lever, and although I may enjoy alternative mental health, I'm not stupid!  So we'll still be around, one way or another, because at the heart of it, I'm hooked.  Hopelessly addicted, and happy to be so.  It's simple, really.

Thanks for being such wonderful readers.
I hope I don't sound too stuffy or pedantic, but sometimes I need to get it out--elegantly.

The Kats will be back tomorrow...

Happy Sunday!  Love Yourself.
