It's freezing darn COLD on our Catio!

And windy!

We spent most of the day inside today, and only ventured out for a short time to take advantage of some sunpuddles.

This is the kind of weather that makes me very happy to be FORMERLY feral.  

We think we need an extra treat or eleven to keep up our strength to battle the cold but Mommy's not buying it.  So we've all become heaty-spot seekers instead...

...and Mommy woke up with SIX Cats on the Big Bed this morning!  There's an electric mattress pad on the bed and boy, it is totally toasty.  And guess what--Mommy left it on all day for us.  

We're gonna pile on it again tonight...and yes, I'll be under the covers!

Today starts Mommy's silly schedule, so our commenting opportunities are gonna be limited.  Sandy Claws didn't bring us any thumbs for Catsmas so we're still sorta dependent on her for for typing.

We were bribed with snax to get the shot, and Mommy ran around tossing Cats to get us all in the frame.

We had LOTS of fun questions from all of you in our comments the other day!  Mommy printed them out and we got 'em all organized and sorted and color-coded and stuff.  There were so many, we're gonna start a new feature called "You're Asking For It!" once a week.

I'm so excited!  She's a little older than me, from the land of Oz, and she has a beautiful black coat.

For a lot of our readers it's pretty gol-danged gosh-durned nasty outside.

Winter is here in the Desert, too.  We've had ten days of icky rain (!!!), with more to come, and this weekend it's supposed to get down to freezing temperatures.

Not at all like the HOTS we prefer.

So today we thought we'd help all y'all warm up by posting a picture of four of us, stacked up, soaking in the sunbeams.

You may notice that I am covered in Nip.

And slowly toasting in the sun.

In winter the sunbeams shine in on the south side of the Catio, and we bask

on the shelving unit and on the skyways, charging up our sillyness batteries.

The nip helps too!

I like to think about my LadyCat love, Miss Admiral, while I'm sunbathing.  

She's so pretty she makes me want to shout!

Sorry, I got a little carried away.  

There are other interlopers Mancats vying for my sweet Girl's attention,

But I know my studly chin whiskers will win her over to ME! 

That, and my sexy, smokey, slitted eyes.

Sleepy Sunday

I am tired. 

Last week was Maui's Gotcha Day party, Lautrec and Tiny's birthday party, our awesome giftie box from Spitty, and then Christmas!

I need a nap, prolly until the New Year.

Speaking of which, we have a few announcements!

First, Mommy is working a strange schedule for the next month.  She promised us that we'd post every day, but that we might be scarce for commenting for a while.  Since she feeds us, we didn't grumble too much.  But there may be a strategic yak in her future...just sayin'!

Second, can y'all check our blogroll and see if you're on it?  We're trying to square up our 'Roll with our Reader and we'd appreciate the help...and is there an easier way to do it than one at a time?

Third, we want to answer some questions...but we need some first!  Is there something about us or the Catio you're dying to know?  Leave us a comment and we'll do a post in a week or so!

Forth, Mommy is writing a little short story!  More on that later...

Now, I need to nap.

Today we got to open our Christmas pressie from Spitty!

Scouty was so pleased with his gift bag, he put his happy face on!

Spitty sent us this snuggly fleece blankie...Sylvester claimed it right away.

Mommy spread out all our loot for us to admire. 

We got Greenies, nip toys, wool knitted mousies, Mysterious Yarn Octopi, gift bags for each of us, NIP, and a blankie! 

And Spitty fur...YEOWZA!

We aren't gonna need new toys until next year!!

(which is only a few days away...)

In other OTHER news, Mommy was contacted by Ekin Oklap, from "Eulogy" magazine, a couple of weeks ago to contribute a story about Death.  Now this sounds really awful, but it's not.  Dying happens to all of us, and it's important to remember the Ones that Have Come Before, and celebrate their lives.
Mommy has learned something from all of you in the Cat Blogosphere, and that is when one of us grieves, we all do, and it's immensely comforting to have such love and support.
She wrote about two Kitties that are Angels now, Hooter and Fuzzy, the link is HERE.

Ekin asked us to tell you to feel free to leave a comment on the article at Eulogy, and if you have a unique viewpoint or experience to please contact her.

I'm glad I'll be with Mommy Forever.

Someday Mommy will scan some pictures and tell Hooter's and Fuzzy's stories; we are gonna do a few remembrance posts in the New Year.

One Word Wednesday

Pawing it Forward.

We got our Paw it Forward package from Tygana and Pepper, from One Cat's Nip!

It had some PAWESOME toys inside...stuff we've never played with before, like sparkly balls, jingle balls, and furry balls.    We also got some paper crinkly balls that are May Ling's most favoritest toy in the world, she was thrilled!  We had a blast as soon as Mommy opened the box.

There were three in the package, which totally rocked.

KonaKitty guarded hers closely.

Grayce went MAD for the jingle balls.  Mommy put some in the box and Grayce had Ye Grand Olde Tyme fishing them out and batting them everywhere.  In fact, they get put away at night or Mommy wouldn't get any sleep.

Salem loves fuzzy ball...

...a LOT.

This made us crazypants, too!

If you don't see many toys here, it's because we ran 'em all over the house!

You guys are great.

So, now we need to paw it forward, and we got to thinking.

We all know Santa's gonna bring us good stuff, because we're all such Good Cats.  We've got enough toys, really.  And food, and a place to live.

So instead of sending out packages we're gonna have an impromptu commentathon for Chrystal of Daily Dose of Dogs (AKA Cats with Your Coffee) instead, and send them a gift card!

We'll donate fifty cents per comment to Chrystal, to use however she needs for her pets.
