Formerly Feral Friday

Kitties!

Salem here.
You know, I spent quite some time living the Wild Life in the neighborhood.  I peered in the windows at Daddy for a few weeks before I was Captured sauntered indoors--and the Postman says he saw me wandering around for nearly half a year.  I'm not telling whether or not I had another home (there was no "Lost Cat" sign ever posted and I didn't have a chip) and simply decided to move house--but one thing for sure is that when I came to live here I was a skinny waif!

Not any more.
Like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll never be hungrumbly again!

(Or, more accurately, she'll be hungry forever. LOL!--ed)

I heard that, Mommy, and I direct my Gaze of Scorn upon you.  Now, bring me some dehydrated chikkun strips and I may forgive you.

Happy Friday!!

Formerly Feral Friday

Kitties!

CC here.
I've been pondering how nice it is to live indoors, with lots of love, foodables, and cozy beds.  It's so much better than the life that my littermate Scouty and I used to live outdoors--homeless, starving, and unsocialized.

Speaking of my brother, I wonder where he is?

He's missing out on this primo napping spot!

waitaminnit...he's right behind me, isn't he?

That's right bro...keepin' yer rump warm.  And hiding from that camera-wielding wench.  Some of us* prefer to stay as anti-social inscrutable as possible...

No worries, Scouty MacScouterton, Mommy doesn't dare cross the Paw Property Line.

Happy Friday!

Formerly Feral Friday Finale--Down the Hatch

Kitties!

Maui here.
Yes, at last *I* have the lizard--and if there's one thing I remember from being a feral cat is you don't fiddle about (like Sweet Pea) with your prey, you kill it and get down to business right away...

...no matter who's watching...

...you gobble it up just as quickly as you can!

Lizards are easy; they go down like spaghetti--the bones are so delicate it's merely a moment's work to crush the skull, eat the brains, and ZIP, the rest is gone!  Practically an amuse bouche.  To satisfy your curiosity, lizards taste just like delicious free-range chicken, with delicate herpetarian overtones.

Now to nap, and digest.

Happy Friday!

Formerly Feral Friday

Kitties!

Rupert here.
I've come a long way from the starving, scared, and wounded kitty that desperately peered into the sliding glass window back in 2004.
Today I'm a well-fed, confident (albeit shy), and healthy ManCat!
It was a small price to pay--my gonads for the Good Life.

No loss really, my Smoldering ManCat Sexiness is still in full force:
S'up, Ladies...

Formerly Feral Friday

Kitties!

Sweet Pea here.
Mommy moved this scratching post out to the Catio.  It's great!

I like to sit on it and watch the world go by outside the screen.  Did you know that I'm the reason the Catio was built?  Daddy said "No more Cats" after I was Gotcha'ed (we all know how well that worked out) and the Catio stopped him from seeing sad-faced strays at the back window.*

When I came indoors I was a dirty scruffly little scrap, and HUNGRY!  I ate and ate and ate, and when Daddy picked me up after my first good meal I produced a truly awesome eructation.  (Which is a ladylike way to say "burp".)

Today I am nice and sparkling white.

And it's so nice knowing I'll never be hungry (or homeless) again.

Happy Friday!

*Salem was a sad face at the front window.
So much for Daddy's cockamaimie theories of window management.

Formally Feral Friday

Kitties!

Sweet Pea here.
I love Love LOVE my Daddy.
Sure, Mommy is OK--she feeds me and gives me treats and puddles of cream and sometimes I sleep with her--but my heart belongs to Daddy.

We have a Special Game.
Daddy wil be in his office and I prance past the doorway, waving my tail furrthers.  I do this several times, occasionally mewing a sad little miaow...just to underscore how sad I am and that I need some luvvins to put everything all right.

He caves.  Every.  Single.  Time.
Daddy gets up and says "I'm gonna GET you!", and I run like the WIND, ears over teakettle, hop up on the counter and into my bed on the shelf in the garden window.

Of course Daddy never catches me, my four feets are far faster than his meagre two.

My bed is sorta a long reach, so Daddy climbs up on the counter to give me the pettings I need so desperately!  It's quite convenient for him, I know this because he says so.
He's also mentioned that the counter is cold...

I'm sure glad that I showed up at this house all those years ago, I got the Best Daddy in the World for me!
Do you have a Special Person?

Happy Friday!

Floofy Formerly Feral Friday

Kitties!

Sweet Pea here.

It's freezing darn COLD on our Catio!
And windy!

We spent most of the day inside today, and only ventured out for a short time to take advantage of some sunpuddles.
This is the kind of weather that makes me very happy to be FORMERLY feral.

We think we need an extra treat or eleven to keep up our strength to battle the cold but Mommy's not buying it.  So we've all become heaty-spot seekers instead...
...and Mommy woke up with SIX Cats on the Big Bed this morning!  There's an electric mattress pad on the bed and boy, it is totally toasty.  And guess what--Mommy left it on all day for us.
We're gonna pile on it again tonight...and yes, I'll be under the covers!

Happy Friday!

Formerly Feral Friday, and a POLL!

Kitties!

Mommy is gonna be off work next week!

HURRAH!

We have a poll up on our sidebar...we're trying to decide how much work she should do for us while she's home.
Plese help us decide by voting.
You kitties might be more fair than us!

Today, we decided that we would celebrate being Formerly Feral, each in our own ways.
The Baby lounges Outside, while Mommy reads a book.

Johnson hangs out in his strange scratchy enclosure.
SomeKat yakked on the scratchy pad and it cracked.
Mommy glued the pieces back together once it dried, but before it did, we had fun with the halves.

KonaKitty, Rupert & CC share Mommy's lap.
CC just started sitting on Mommy last week.  He is a TOTAL love sponge, almost as bad as the other two pictured here.

Sweet Pea and Salem enjoy the Blue Cat Tree.

Grayce snuggles in her lil' round bed.

Scouty (and CC) enjoy the Catio.

Maui rests.  When he was feral and had his huevos, he never could relax and take it easy.
He's making up for it here!

Felix enjoys thwarting Mr. Crazypants, trying to get a good action shot.

May Ling plays with a Casbah Kitten JellyBean.

Kitties, we love living Inside.

Have a wonderful Friday, and don't forget to vote in our poll!

Formerly Feral Friday: Keepin' Cool with Maui

Kitties!
Maui here...Mommy has been giving me my anti-inappropriate pee-ing pills so I'm calm enough for a report!
Here at the Lounge it's been really really REALLY hot. The Catio is up to 110F (at least!) every afternoon. So we kitties have figured out some ways to stay cool.
You might notice that there are no leaves on the trees behind me. Daddy took this picture early last Spring, when it was cool outside and we lived on the catio 24/7. My furz are all fluffed out and thick to keep me warm in the cool air.

Here I am a couple of months ago. As the weather gets warmer we start moving down levels on the Catio and migrate to the North side of the house. I'm lounging in front of the french doors off of the Great Room here. The concrete stays cool up next to the house and I'm taking advantage of that. Feel free to admire my nice "grill-marks" on my hinders. And fronters.

Nowadays, since it's so dang hot Out, you'll most often find us Kats up against the foundation, belly or back pressed up to the cool concrete. We don't HAVE to be outside, but this is where we like to be. Mommy went along the house and moved stuff out of the way so we'd have a lot of space for squashing ourselves up against the house. Mommy's nice like that.
(Notice the Evil Dyson on the table in the left side of the picture? It's up in the air so we can't pee on it like it deserves.)
(rats!)

Of course, when the heat gets to be too much, we come inside, cool off on the tile, and then stake out some real estate on the Big Bed.
Kitties, this is the Bomb! When I was a feral Kat I NEVER had it this good. The indoor life is toe-curlingly great!
Happy Friday, Kitties!
XX Maui, reporting in a calm and cool manner...for now.

Formerly Feral Friday: Ferocious!

Kitties!
We've been pretty busy here at the Lounge.
As you all know, we were all out on the streets when we were kitten tots, and beyond. So even though we get stinky goodness twice daily (and chix-hen treats every chance we can) we like to keep up our Hunting Skills.
Summertime is excellent for Live Prey Hunting, none of those fake mousies or feather toys!
Although if you would like to wave the feather toy...well, how's a Cat to resist?
But we digress.
EXHIBIT A: One small lizard. Daddy, that rotten fluffer, took him away before we could deliver the killing blow... and put him back outdoors!
Mister Lizard, we've got your name (George) and we'll be waiting for you.

Sweet Pea and George.
EXHIBIT B: A four-inch Desert Hairy scorpion. We pull the stinger off and play away! Scorpions get dedded pretty quick (bummer) but they hold together really well so there's a lot of good tossing and batting action to be had.
Oh yeah, and the screaming from your Humans when they see you with the Scorpion...Priceless.
Scouty & the de-stingered scorpion.
EXHIBIT C: Jiminy Cricket, his brothers, sisters and other members of his family.

Eaten by this insatiable Beast:
Felix, Sated.

EXHIBIT D: Mister Roach. We get these big brown concrete-surfers here in the desert. They're a lot of fun to hunt and play with, and they last a long long time, even after you pull the legs and stuff off. However, they taste nasty so we leave 'em for Mommy to admire (and dispose of).
Roach, Interupted.
So there you have it, Kitties, our weekly take!
Of COURSE we could support ourselves out in the wild...but why?
Happy Friday!

Formerly Feral Friday with Scouty

Kitties!
I do NOT admit to starting to become unferal.
This picture is nothing but lies!
I would never eat dried chicken strips out of my Mommy's fingers.
I would never call Her "Mommy".
Or lay around at night, gazing at her.
Never!
Ok, maybe once.
Once, every single night.
And sometimes in the morning.
But only because I'm hungry...four platters of food twice daily is not suficient for my needs.
This has been Scouty, and I am still a wild boy...in theory.
