Odds-n-Ends

Kitties!

We have a mixed bag of miscellaneous stuff for y'all today.

Salem has a secret admirer!  He's a tuxie, young, and a member of the FBI (Feline Bureau of Investigation).    He wrote to her in a comment:  "I am always so happy when you are in the blog! I think you are the most beautiful cat, ever! I worship your beauty at your lovely white toes."
Can you guess who it is?

Artemesia says she still loves Johnny even though he's nekkid, and Miss Jasmine thinks he should start a Noody Club!

Punapippuri wondered how hard is it to get a photo at our house without a kitty in it--we want to know why there should ever be a photo WITHOUT a kitty in it!  After all, we're the good-looking ones around here.
And yes, Puna-Chan, you may take a toy home with you whenever you visit!

Katie Isabella wondered how our outside boy Henry is doing.  We are 99% sure he lives two houses up the street, but he appears every night for dinner at our house.  He still needs to be neutered, but now Mommy is in a quandry...the neighbor people are kinda, well, weird.

Simba, there are people who spin cat fur into yarn!  We Googled it and by golly, there were lots of folks out there who do it.

To answer your query--Thompson, Diegi-San, and Theo, Maui is a Dead Head.  Big time.

The crew at Beaded Tail wants to know if some of us sleep outdoors at night on the Catio--Scouty  does fairly often, and when it's the HOTS we all sleep out there at night because it's too hot to go out in the daytime!

Au, Target and Guido asked if Hummingbirds have a supersonic shriek--no they don't.  Their little screams are QUITE audible, and loud, too!  They always sound irritated, heh heh.

That's it for now...keep those questions coming, friends!
It gives us ideas for blogs.

Happy Tuesday!

Thursday Q and A

Kitties!

We've had a few questions in the comments that we want to answer, and so all y'all won't whine comment about "where's the kitties" we put in a bunch of random unrelated photos, too!

Grayce
 1.  What do we consider cold?
Here in the Mojave desert it can get pretty cold, occasionally even below freezing at night.  And it can snow, too!  Our usual winter daytime temps range from 45-60F.  Since our back yard faces SW we get nice warm afternoon sun, and it's not uncommon to hit 70 on the Catio, even in December when the days are short.
Mommy is a Western Wienie and complains the second the mercury dips below 85.

Rupert and Sylvester
q.  What does it say on the edge of our yellow skyway platform?
Check out our header, it says "KATNIP VIC SKY LOUNGE"

How many do you see?
&.  What type of kibble do we recommend, and do we like natural foods?
Mommy recently bought us a bag of Taste of the Wild, and we like it very much.  We love Blue Buffalo, and FELIDAE kibble as well.  We get as grain-free (as possible) kibble.  Mommy would prefer that we only ate wet food, but KonaKitty refuses to eat it, and since she is almost 15 Mommy caved in on the kibble issue.  Wet food is better for our kidneys--we eat Friskies but we really like Tiki Cat and Weruva.  We also get poached chicken, fish, and of course our duck and chicken jerky.

KonaKitty
6b.  Are the Whizz Wars over?
Mostly.  Cod willing and the creek don't rise.

The Baby
92.  Does Daddy limit himself to his Office?
Surprisingly, YES!

Scouty
elebenty.  What is that on your Daddy's head?
It's a Chicago Bears foam Bear hat.  It's actually Mommy's, hee hee hee!

Salem and Sweet Pea
And we have a question for you--Mommy publishes our blog at 8 PM PST, and sets up the post time for 12:05 AM the next day.  If any of you are email subscribers, what time does our post hit your in box?

Did we get 'em all?
Tell in the comments if there's anything else inquiring Cats need to know!
And stop back tomorrow for a fun drawing...

Happy Thursday!

This-n-That Thursday

Kitties!

We have a miscellaneous mish-mash post of a whole lotta unrelated stuff, accompanied by some random photos, in no particular order.  Our Mommy is famously disorganized, if we may say so...and we may.

Enjoy!

The new Cat Tree is a HIT!
Daddy put heaty pads in the two huts for us, and we love napping in 'em.
After the initial whizzening we haven't felt the need to tinkle on it.  In fact, the Whizz Wars seem to have  *whispers* reached an armistice, thanks to Mommy and her biochemical weaponry--and Daddy's thorough house sterilizing cleaning.

Maui is leaping for joy because Mommy's friend Steve is doing great!
He's walking unassisted to therapy twice a day and thinks he'll be home by Catmas.  It sure has been a long road, but since only 65% of people with his type and severity of peritonitis even survive, he's lucky to be here at all.  And he knows it!

Daddy went to Sam's Club and got us this fabbo box!
The kitties at Mark's Mews asked us about what toys we like best on our Catio.  We get the most use out of our shelves and skyways, since our favorite games involve chasing one another.  The tube that Daddy made for us (out of sonotube) is a hit for chasing and ambushing; it's also a nice place to sleep.  We enjoy all our cat trees, and the little blue one is good for sleeping, but it hasn't held up too well, honestly.    If we had to choose one Favorite thing, it would be the ESS, paws down!

Mommy got this from a friend to try...we think the picture on the package was a teeny bit deceiving, but apparently it tasted just fine with peanut butter slathered all over it.

The limes lemons are ripe.
Mommy is wondering if any of your pawrents have ever dehydrated lemons...it appears that there's WELL over a hundred lemons on the tree!
Pucker up, Mommy.

Sylvester is *exactly* one cassette tape wide.
In case you were wondering.

KonaKitty, that shameless senior, declared that today is officially "Make Spitty Swoon" Day!
How about it Spittola?
Spitty?
Hello?

Johnny demonstrates how to fit twenty pounds of tumescent tubby tabby into a ten pound fleecy box.  He says it ain't easy, but somecat's gotta do it!

Oh, and we have a new Holiday Hat.
Thrilling.

Happy Thursday!

Mish-Mash Mancat Monday

Kitties!

The Katnip Lounge ManCats here, and we're a tiny bit hissed off!

Mommy had to work late and she didn't have time to help us put together a scintillating and witty post.

Instead, all we have to offer you is a mish-mash of ManCats!

Gosh, we hope you aren't disappointed in us...

...Mommy needs to allocate her time more appropriately.

Don't worry, she will be severely punished; we're planning a mass squishing while she sleeps tonight.

Right about the time she has to get up and go pee.
Happy Monday!

Tuesday News Around the Lounge

Kitties!

We have a lot of news today...and NONE of it is related.  Yesterday we were all busy Meowing like Pirates so we couldn't do a Mish Mash Monday; may we present instead Tittle Tattle Tuesday?

Let's go!

Kona:  I love the new kibble Mommy got us!  My curly furs have never looked so lush.
I'm even getting a little plump!

Felix:  I have my own Special Pillow that I sleep on every night by Daddy.  If he doesn't go to bed when I think he should, I glare at him until he does, or I doze off sitting up!

Sweet Pea:  I'm so happy Eric & Flynn's Mum had Good News!
We all did a little Happy Dance.

May Ling:  Mommy deliberately imprisoned shut me in the bathroom on Saturday when she left for work.   Daddy heard me and let me out when he got up.
I showed her...I pooped on the floor!

Miss Admiral is staying at the Vet's office for the next three days, getting fluids.
Can you all purr for her and her Mom?

Scouty:  It pains me to admit this, but I never did get rid of my back mat...Evil Plans are being laid for it's removal.
This CAN'T be good.

CC:  Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
I can sleep soundly because I'm POSITIVE I'm a ManCat, and have been all my life.

Salem:  Let's see...tummy, check.
Tail, check.
Toes, check.
Teeth & tongue, double check!
Yep. That covers all the "T's"!

::photo of Mommy omitted::

Mommy:  My buddy Steve continues to improve, but it's SUCH a slow process--he's off the ventilator for a while each day, and can talk.  He heartily regrets waiting so long to seek medical attention!
I have informed him about my imminent abuse to his buttocks.

Happy Tuesday!

Tidying Up on Tuesday

Kitties!

We have a bunch of odds and ends today.

First, we'd like to announce that Daddy's photo of Johnny won the February spot in A Cats Golden Years  2011 Calendar Bookmark Photo contest!

Miss Kitty, along with her Dad Egmont, are holding a contest for each calendar quarter.

This was our entry:
Our handsome Johnny.

Secondly, and related to the first item, we received an award from Cat's Cats!
They were awarded "The One Lovely Blog" award by Miss Kitty, and passed it on to us, along with some very nice compliments about our blog.

We would like to pass this award on to three newer blogs we read and enjoy very much:

The OK Cats--Fuzzy and Zoe

Princess Jasmine--and her brofur Simon

Carolyon--a fun Down-Under Kitty

Please go by and visit, tell 'em we sent ya!
Thank you so much for thinking of us, Cat's Cats Crew!  We lubs you very much.

Thirdly, Milo and Alfie challenged us to get a photo of ALL 13 of us in one frame on the Catio.
Well, we're still working on that one!
So no picture of that...yet.

But we do have some fun random pictures of us to show you, uncropped, uncorrected!
(sheesh, our Mommy is LAZY)
Maui, working on the impossible, looking neat.

Miss Pea enjoying the Winter Sun.

Salem, waiting for a chicken treat.

Scouty, taken with the new zoom lens.

Rupert marking Mommy's kitty lamp.

The Baby.  'Nuff said.

Soft focus May Ling.

Kitties, that's all for today...Happy Tuesday!

Friday Wrap-Up

Kitties!

This is kinda a mishmash post...hang on!

It's been unCodly busy around here with Mommy offa work.  She's been cleaning like a madwoman, getting rid of our furs inside and out.
Between hiding from the Evil Vacuum and re-furring everything up we're exhausted.

Not to mention our breakfast has been TWO HOURS LATE every day.

Daddy has been running errands...we had a BIG pickup truck for a rental while our Explorer was in the shop getting fixed, and Daddy took advantage of the bed and suspension:

One hundred cement blocks, bags of sand, dirt, et cetera.
Daddy is gonna build another sitting area in the Northwest corner of the yard.
The Baby can hardly wait to snoopervise!

Mommy has decided to start doing a Gardening Thursday...she thinks that Daddy works so hard in our yard that we should show it off.   Hurrah!  Now we can tell all y'all about desert landscaping.
 We got our car back!
(Mommy calls her new car the SS Tuna, any ideas what we should call Daddy's car?)

Many yummy snax are being doled out at odd times.
 nommy!

How can kibble get our whiskers so filthy?
 ::lick lick lick::

Gotta get that sixth toe clean!
 Cat Spit, the universal solvent.

Maui watched the show "Survivor"
He sits in front of the infrared controls for the remotes.
It drives Daddy Crazypants!

Hmmm, looks like Mommy needs to dust.
 I'm outta here!
They voted Coach Jimmy Johnson off.  GRRRRRR.

Daddy started us two lawns!
He bought some sod at the hardware store.
He brought the smaller one in for us to try out.

We LOVE it!
It's still early days, if we don't nibble it to death it should come in nice and lush real soon.
I'm never moving.

So, last night when our cable went out from 6:15 PM to 7:50 PM.
We're telling you, when Humans don't have something to occupy themselves they get crazypants!
They weighed this Big Boy...

...who is HUGE!
All 22.8 pounds of him!

Yup, you read it right:

22.8 POUNDS!

So kitties, that's what going on at our house.

Mommy is planning on doing NOTHING Saturday & Sunday except watch football and blog, so we'll be around visiting soon!
