Kitties!
KonaKitty here, with a really great story.
Once upon a time, when I was a teeny tiny kitten, I was rescued from the big bad cold Outdoors by a man and a lady that became my Daddy and Mommy. I was terrified when I was gotcha'd--but there was a humongous white kitty named Fuzzy who took me under his paw and taught me that people can be very nice. Fuzzy was a wonderful brother. He even let me nurse on him!
Fuzzy passed on at the ripe old age of 19, he had diabetes and was insulin dependent for the last seven years of his life. Mommy gave him his shot every morning before breakfast and he never complained.
I sure miss him.
There is another Important Person in my life who has diabetes, too--my Daddy. However, Daddy is not insulin dependent (Thank Cod), in fact he doesn't need to take medicine any more, either! Because earlier this year he decided he was tired of feeling awful, and he and Mommy decided to change how they ate.
They started with an HCG diet and did six weeks of lean protein, tons of vegetables, and only 500 calories a day. Surprisingly, neither one of them were too hungry, and Daddy started feeling better almost right away. When the six weeks were up they went to a whole foods eating plan, with an emphasis on FRESH food, lots of fruits and veggies, minimal meat and dairy, and no fast food or processed food. And portion control.
So far he's lost SIXTY pounds!
His laboratory numbers are good and he feels great as long as he doesn't eat "crap", or too much. Mommy had to buy him all new clothes because his pants kept falling down, and pretty soon he's gonna need another new set!
This is Daddy today.
You might be able to tell he's a Bears fan!
(He usually doesn't look this stern, he was just being silly.)
Kitties, I am so happy that Daddy is FORMERLY diabetic.
He says food made him sick, and now food is making him well.
I don't want to lose another family member to this awful disease.
Daddy, keep up the good work, and the chin scritchies...we all love you.
Happy Saturday!
