Unwell Whitey

Kitties!

The Baby here.

Could I have some purrs?  I think I may be the latest victim of the cat flu that's been going around the ranks here.  I'm a bit tottery on my pins and all I want to do is snooze, and I have some prodigiously HUGE eye crusties going on, too.  Thank Cod Mommy wiped 'em off before she took my picture!

Mommy made a special trip to the store for tunas, potted meats (gross, but she loves it--ed.), Gerbers, a fresh broasted chicken, and canned ham to tempt me into eating, and I'm happy to report I've been cleaning every dish offered.  The horrid pink juice is administered twice daily, and so far I'm not too snotted up, I'm just so tired, I'm just sleep sleep sleeping, all day and night.  I started feeling cruddy last Wednesday, so if I'm not perkier by the end of the week Mommy will tote me off to the vet's office for a check up; everybody else here stricken with the sickies has improved in that time frame.

Sooooo...a few purrs would not go amiss--help me avoid a vet visit!

Thank you so much.

Happy Tuesday!

*ka-chew*

Mommy:  Yes, Johnson's URI was good enough to share--poor Felix started gulping and snot-spewing Thursday evening.  Poor lad is sick as a dog...nokitty does miserable quite like him.  He's on the same antibiotic I gave John (it took about 36 hours before we saw any improvement) so hopefully by Saturday evening he'll be feeling a whole lot better.  What with Kona's passing, the flu that both Scott and I had, allergies, and sick kitties, I'm about at my wit's end here.  Enough, already.

 Happy HEALING Caturday!

O Wonderful Day!

Kitties!

Tiny J here.
Do you see this sheet I'm sat upon?  They're flannel, covered in kitties, and they're NEW!
Mommy got them from her folks as a fun Birthday present (not yet, January 31st--ed.) and she immediately laundered and put 'em into service.

The flannel fabric is verreh comfy on my sensitive hairy behind, and I told Mommy just how happy I was about that.  You won't have to turn up the sound very much to hear me purring like a locomotive:
or click HERE

Of course the top sheet went on next so I tested out that configuration, too.
Trust me, I'm in there!

See?
or click HERE

I can't wait for bedtime tonight!

I apologize for the quality, Mommy had to grab her old tablet to get these...and the lighting wasn't the best...I hope my purr and chitchat makes up for it a little.

Happy Monday!

Miss Meezer Meows!

Kitties!

May Ling here.
Mommy was getting ready to leave for work and I really didn't want her to leave because I am a needy greedy little Meezer kitty who needs love and attention All Day Long, so I tarted it up a bit on the sofa to delay her.

It worked!

I got some much needed adoration to tide me over through the next bleak ten hours, and I was so pleased I gave Mommy a little meow, which she--bless her--was able to capture on camera.

What's more, I was purring like a motorboat and Mommy got that, too!
or click HERE

Of course, Mommy did have to leave for work, but we'll have all night to snuggle together and make Mommy HOT when she returns...I'll have my spot by her pillow (left side) all warmed up for her.  'Cos I'm nice like that.

Happy Monday!

Black and White Wednesday

Kitties!

Salem here.
And I have momentous news to report:

Mommy petted me and I PURRED!

This is a first, kitties.  Up until now I've enjoyed loveys and attention but the only person I would turn on the rumbler for was Daddy--however yesterday Mommy caught me in a weak moment petted me *just right* and I simply couldn't resist--I revved up my engine full throttle and purred like a motorboat.

Naturally, she's trying to repeat the phenomenon by petting me at every opportunity.

Tell me, kitties, should I give in and purr again?

Happy Wednesday!

Queasy

Kitties!

Just a quickie to check in: Mommy says she feels like hurling a hairball and her head hurts too.

Mommy is never sick (or sits still, for that matter) so it's kinda-sorta a bonus that she's been nailed to the sofa all day...we're enjoying it while it lasts, administering healing snuggles and therapeutic purrs.

See you tomorrow, Happy Friday!

Bibbles Update!

Friends and Kitties!

The Mommy here.

I just spoke to the vet, and as of 13:45 The Baby is in recovery, waking up.

There were no obvious masses, however, the small intestine was not normal, the vet said it felt turgid and stiff.  Bibs also had white spots on her lower bowel and pancreas.  Dr. Augustine got five different biopsy samples which hopefully will point us in the right treatment direction.

So, no immediate solution (which I was hoping for), but by next Monday we'll have more information from the biopsy results.

I'll visit Miss Grizz at the vet's office tomorrow to cheer her up, and if all goes well she'll come home either Thursday night or Saturday morning--a lot depends on weather or not she'll eat (and poop!).

Our thanks to all of you for holding The Baby in your hearts and thoughts.

Happy Monday!

Purrs, Please

Kitties!

The Baby here.

This morning (7/1) I am going to have surgery to see if the vet can find out what keeps making me so sick.  Antibiotics appear to kick back my not-feeling-so-goodedness for a while, and then I start to have bad days again.  There was an undefined mass on my ultrasound, and the vet thought she might have felt something on my innertubes--so since I'm stronger after the last antibiotic treatment Mommy and the vet decided it was worth the risk of surgery to look and see if whatever is bothering me can't be removed, for good.

Mommy was elebenty kinds of upset and crying when she dropped me off at the vet's office, so I think we both could use some purrs...me for a safe procedure and her for the anxiety.

Thank you all so much, I sincerely hope I'll be back soon.

Love,

Frazzled Friday

Kitties!

Teh Mommy here.

Well, it's been an absolute maelstrom of activity here; but it's not quite done yet.  The painting is complete, the baseboard ordered (installation in about a month), the electrician is coming tomorrow to change out some outlets and switches.  Oh, and speaking of electricity, we are officially on SOLAR POWER and off the grid!  We still have to put up or pictures and decorations...that's Scott's metier and he'll do that over the weekend while I'm at work and unavailable to offer unhelpful poor placement suggestions, LOL.

In sad news, our The Baby is one sick kitty, and spent four days at the vet.  She's back home with antibiotics and milk thistle to take for the next three weeks and then a follow-up blood test.  Her white blood cell count was astronomical and some of her liver enzymes were also off the chart.  The vet suspects either a tumor(s) or possibly an abscess on her liver.  We're going with conservative treatment for now, but exploratory surgery may be needed for a definitive diagnosis if she doesn't respond well.  This latest excursion cost us nearly $900, so if the surgery happens we may be asking for donations--it will be in the neighborhood of $2000--and as much as I hate to ask I know all of you truly understand how madly we love this little white cat and want her well, if we can.  Right now she's sacked out on the catio, and the first thing she wanted to do when she got home was go on patrol (a short one) outside.

So, in the next few week if you could keep Bibbles in your thoughts we'd appreciate it very, very much.

I'll have more photos to show of the house soon...and I PROMISE to contact those of you wanting a tour of the Catio at BlogPaws next week.  Sheesh.  Life is Busy.

Happy Friday!

Soothing Sounds

Kitties!

The Mommy and Rupert here, with the Saturday Photohunt.

The word this week is ~MUSICAL~

I love almost all types of music,* opera to hip hop, but nothing sounds as musical to me as the rhythmic thrumming of a contentedly purring cat.

Happy Caturday!

Thinking of Felix on Thursday...

Kitties!

This little boy is at the Ebil Vet's office...

He's got some tartar-y chompers!

Can you spare a purr for him?  He has a tough time with anesthesia.
We love our Felix, crankypants and all.
Mommy will be picking him up in the late afternoon--on the way to the vet he howled so pitifully that she was in tears by the time they got there--she's hoping the ride home will be considerably calmer.

Happy Thursday!

Friends on Friday

Kitties!

Grayce here.
Today, I'm thinking about how great it is to have friends.

You can cuddle with a friend

Friends look out for each other.

Friends can be different species.

You can play with friends!

Kitties, a friend of mine is really, really sick.  My friend is a Human named Steve and I LOVE him.  I especially love his shoes; he always wears my favorite loafers just for me.  I don't hardly even bite him...much.
Mommy can explain a little more:

Steve is my co-worker and I've known him for ten years...he lives alone and his only family is his Mom, who is 90 years old and lives a six hour car ride away.  Last week he was hospitalized for a mass that burst in his abdomen...the surgeon had to remove two sections of intestine/bowel.  The histology for the mass came back non-cancerous, which amazed us all--he's complained about "stomach" issues for YEARS--so I'm assuming the growth has been there for quite some time.
Steve's in intensive care in an induced coma, although the ICU nurse said for a patient in his condition he's doing rather well.  Today they were planning on lightening up his narcotics and start weaning him from the respirator.  His Mom is here for the week, and yesterday I drove his truck from the hospital to his condo.  Yes, he drove HIMSELF to the hospital, even while this thing was exploding and bleeding inside him!
I am furious with Steve.  This is not the first time he's neglected himself; picture a typical middle-aged man just hoping whatever that mysterious nagging pain is will just go away.  When I saw him yesterday I told him if he pulls through this I am going to strangle him.
And I told him that if he knows what's good for him, he'll get better.
I told him I loved him.
Steve has a long journey ahead of him, probably three more weeks in intensive care, then onto a regular room, then rehab.

Grayce and I would like to ask you to please say a prayer and send some purrs Steve's way.
Or she'll bite you.

Thank you all very much, we'll keep you updated on how Steve is doing.  And if any of you out there have any experience with peritonitis and/or ostomy patients or resources please leave me a comment or email me at katniplounge@gmail.com.

Happy Friday!
Enjoy today like it's your last day on Earth.

Small Paws

Kitties!

Felix here.

We're taking a day off today.
Please take some time today to let your Humans hug you tight...
You never know what the future holds.

We are purring for all the victims, two and four-legged, of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan today.

Smile, *smooch* and have a wonderful Caturday!

Floofy Friday--PURRS NEEDED!!

Kitties,

Johnny here, and I don't feel too good.

About a week ago I had a scuffle with one of my furblings, and I got bitten.
This happens all the time.

What doesn't happen all the time is this:
The Prisoner Transport Unit, complete with prisoner

Kitties, I had a bad owie.
I had a big swelling over my left eye, and Mommy knew it was an abscess, too big for her to lance and drain.
I hid under the PTU pad.

So Mommy took me to the VET today!
I sang brave fearless warrior songs in the car on the way there.
Then I hid under Mommy's sweatshirt!

If you are squeamish, don't biggify the next photo...
I look like a WARRIOR!

Kitties, they cleaned my teeth, too!  Like the vet didn't have enough to do.

When I got home (Thank Cod!) I had a long pee, a big meal of canned food and kibbles, and now I'm sleeping on the bed.
I have to go back in three days to get the drain tubes out.  Mommy says if I leave the tubes alone I won't have to wear a lampshade, so I'm trying very hard to be a good boy and not scratch or bother them.  Sleeping sounds like a pretty good option for now...g'night!

Happy Friday!

XX  Johnny

Kitties, Mommy Trish here...can you send a few purrs for our Big Boy?   He had a real doosey of an abscess, it came up very quickly and this morning it was red, hot and went from his ear to his eye.  I was pretty worried!  He had a two-week antibiotic shot so no dreaded pink juice, now all we need to do is keep him from pawing at the drains, and give him tons of lovins.
