In The Jungle

Kitties!

Shadow here, hunting.

There's a lizard underneath this bush, I just know it.

He will never escape my sharp claws and Fangs o'Doom!

Well, OK, maybe THIS time he got away.

But only because I let him.

Happy Monday!

Kitties!

Rupert, the Mighty Lizard Hunter here.

After endless hours of watching and stalking, I caught me a George...and attracted an entourage, which was well behaved--for once.

Well, except for Mommy and her running commentary:

As if eating a lizard is gross--it's not--they are delicious!  So good, in fact, it stayed down.  Now that's a mark of a most truly excellent snack, no?

Lizard Prison!

Kitties!

As you know, we have two collared lizards who live in our entryway.*
One of which we hadn't seen doing their morning push ups (and poop!) for a while.

Well, Daddy found him!
The bigger lizard, Jorge, somehow got himself stuck in this yard waste bin** and couldn't leap out.  Fortunately--for him--Daddy didn't dump him out with the trash.

We hear you all asking, did Daddy bring Jorge in for US?

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

That traitor set him free to scamper up to the office window and tease us with his scaly goodness.
*sigh*
Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Happy Monday!

Interview with Jorge

Kitties!

Jorge, our local collared lizard, granted us an exclusive tell-all interview:
Jorge:  Hello.
And thank you for not eating me.

Life out here in the front yard is dangerous enough as it is without the perils of feline consumption.  I hear at least one of you swallows my compatriots whole!
Head first...

*shudders*

As you can see, I've had my share of close calls in the past; I'm missing two toes on my back left foot...

...and I had to jettison part of my tail at one point to escape being a meal.  It should be much longer.  I'm working on it as quickly as I can.

Provided, that is, that I survive this conversation...GOTTA GO!

*scampers up the house*

Hello, Jorge!

Kitties!

We have a new lizard at Casa del Gatos:

Meet Jorge!

(pronounced HORE-hay...and roll the "r"!)

He (or she?) is a Sceloporus Magister, or a Desert Spiny Lizard.  if you embiggen the photo you can see that there are POINTS on the end of his scales!

Obviously, this sort of lizard needs to be eaten head-first.

Jorge (or Jorgina) is living in the front entryway, and we like to observe him out the windows by the door, contemplating his tasty demise.  Or not...Daddy says this guy would be far too quick for even The Baby!  We have the numbers though, and if Jorge ever strays into the back yard...well, we'll be calling him dinner.  In any language.

Hmmmm. We wonder if Jorge is muy caliente?

Happy Caturday!

Mancat Monday, or: Gorging on George

Kitties!

Maui here, and Victory Is Mine.
Do you see the delicious, slithery tail betwixt mine and CC's heads?  By my whiskers?
It's a George!
My Most Excellent sisser The Baby rustled him up out of the rock pile and chased him onto the Catio.*

Where I got** him!
My mighty manly growling kept the rest of my furblings at bay...

...so I was able to dine in peace.

At first I wasn't too sure about the flavor, but that only lasted a moment, and then George was:

Down The Hatch!
(Where, to my amazement, he stayed--ed.)

Happy Monday!

The George Returneth

Kitties!

The Baby here.
I'm sorry that I can't give you my Full Attention right now, but I just saw my first George, a.k.a. LIZARD, of the season!

He skittered across the yard, only to disappear under these rocks, where I can hear him, doing Lizardly Things.  Rustling.  Teasing me.
That's OK George...I'm, patient.
I have all summer to exact my revenge on you, and your scaly, tasty, brethren.

Happy Saurian Saturday!

Formerly Feral Friday Finale--Down the Hatch

Kitties!

Maui here.
Yes, at last *I* have the lizard--and if there's one thing I remember from being a feral cat is you don't fiddle about (like Sweet Pea) with your prey, you kill it and get down to business right away...

...no matter who's watching...

...you gobble it up just as quickly as you can!

Lizards are easy; they go down like spaghetti--the bones are so delicate it's merely a moment's work to crush the skull, eat the brains, and ZIP, the rest is gone!  Practically an amuse bouche.  To satisfy your curiosity, lizards taste just like delicious free-range chicken, with delicate herpetarian overtones.

Now to nap, and digest.

Happy Friday!

Leapin' Lizards!

Kitties!

Yesterday, when we left off with our story, the last participant in the Great Catio Lizard Extravaganza had just danced himself indoors.

Inside, Sweet Pea was (once again) trying to find a spot to enjoy her prey in peace...but (again) CC had other ideas.

While Sweet Pea was busy with diversionary tactics, Maui (ever the opportunist) took advantage of Miss Pea and pounced, startling her into releasing the lizard!  She was a tiny bit hissed off, as you can see.

Sir Maui beat feets right back out to the Catio...

Tomorrow:  The gruesome conclusion!

Happy Thursday!

A Very Exciting Occurrence, Part DEUX

Kitties!

When we last saw Sweet Pea with the lizard, she was starting to attract a crowd.
First CC, then Maui.

When Scouty joined the peanut gallery, Sweet Pea had had enough.

It was time to perform the Bloodthirsty Kitty Konga Line!

Thorry about the lithp--you may have notithed that I have a lithard in my mouth!

The Baby wath out for her Morning Conthititional when she rutheled the lithard out of the bushes and it ran onto the Catio, an Exthtremely Faulty Tactical Move.
 I thnatched it right up.

Now, the quethtion ith:  Where to partake of my delithious morthel?

Uh oh.
Houthton, we have a problem...

Lounge Lizard Part 2!

Kitties!

This is George.
At least, this is a George...there are dozens of Georges in our yard.
(Or garden, if you are a Cat from Other Lands.)

Do you see how delectable he looks?
George is a formidable foe.
Half the deliciousness is in the George-catching!

Yesterday  Nico, Jay Jay & Simon (May Ling's swain, hubba hubba) reminded us that we Cats are Vishus Predators and we are Not to be Denied!
Since I, The Baby, am the only Cat allowed Outdoors I decided that George must die.
Kitties, if your Mommies or Daddies are squeamish, or there are young kitten tots in the room, shield their eyes.

Here I am looking for a George.
Lizards rustle around in the leaves and under plants.

If you're quiet you can hear them, doing Evil Lizard things.
Shhhh! I hear one...he's behind me...

GOTCHA!
George, you who are about to be dedded, I salute you.

::sniff sniff::
Yup, it's George.  I'd know his smell anywhere.

::shake shake::
Whoops, his tail fell off.

Johnny, you can have that bit.
Waste not, want not.
I'm not getting ANYWHERE near those claws!

Since I'm a good sisfur, (and since George stopped moving) I gave him to CC.
Thanks!  The Baby's not all bad...

Look at me!  I have a "Lizardstache".
Is that stylin' or what?
George is Mine!  GROWWWWWWL!

ACK!  Scouty lied to me!
George does NOT taste like chicken.
Now I need to brush!

Maui, George is all yours.
Salem appears to not want him this time.
Thanks, CC!

I will devour George under the benevolent gaze of our Mighty Huntress, The Baby.
Mmmmm, I remember eating George as a regular part of my Healthy Breakfast when I lived as a Feral Outside.

Yup, still tasty!
And so nutritious.
Kitties, this is raw food at it's finest!

::crunch crunch::
::burp::
Delightful!

And where was Felix during this entire spectacle?
Sleeping in the Little Out, Oblivious!
He misses ALL the Good Stuff.

Kitties, we hope you all enjoyed today's adventure as much as we did!
